i love this game although it annoys me how you cant control all the characters and how if the main char dies its game over, i prefer rpgs like final fantasy or dragon quest where this major flaw does not exist

By the way, I've heard that Episode Minato/The Journey is only included in some versions in this game. I've heard most of them've only been released in Japan. Can someone tell me if there're any copies outside Japan, or if the versions without it just have the original game alongside The Answer?
@00REfan00 If you have one of the first few models of the PS3s with it's backward compatibility, then it should work. All other models don't have the ability to play PS2 games.

Dude I was expecting more from the P3P version, I mean after I played FES I felt the PSP version was kinda not exactly as epic, although I really love the alternate reality protagonist, and the way the story goes with her, I just wished they putted more animation scenes, and at least The Answer, but that's not exactly a problem with the producers of the game, this is all UMD fault, I mean its so fucking small, the PSP is a really cool portable system but the games are too short. T.T
@SammEater To my knowledge, P3P was about 1.3GB. The UMD has a capacity of 1.80GB. Therefore, Atlus did not actually use all the space available, and space was definitely not the reason why they did not include the animated scenes. They probably didn't include the scenes due to time and cost.
Playing this right now...My Protagonist is in the Shirt of Chivalry (look at 00:49) , Junpei's in a bathing suit, Aigis is in a sundress, and Mitsuru's in Battle Panties! XD

@DMCorDOTA Have you ever played this game? The guns aren't actually real it's actually an evoker to summon the personas which are from there subconscious. The personas are the monster things you see fighting so no there not emo. Even if the main character looks it.

The differences are there are extra social links and stuff in the original game (the journey) The answer is added and takes place after the original game and helps clarify some story things. The answer isn't in the original game is basically what I'm trying to say.

By any chance, how long is Persona 3 FES? Recently I purchased this game from a Sears store, and several of my friends have been telling me the game is past 100 hours in length. Plus, according to them, it's enjoyable too.
Lol yeah, silly me forgot to read the back of the Persona 3 box that the average length of the game is 100+ hours plus an additional 30 hours of The Answer campaign.

I've found that to be true about all Megami Tensei games, even spinoff series like Persona or Digital Devil Saga. No matter how well-prepared you are, they'll kill you from time to time and there's nothing you can do about it.

@theskyisfaling changes in the social links,more personas, more objects and some more things to do and other minor changes in "The Journey"(p3 actual game). It also haves a completely new chapter called "the answer" that tooks place after the original game and where you control Aigis as MC instead of minato. It consists in a new Maze and about 15 extra hours of gameplay but there is not social simulation in this expansion.
@RubyModernWater buy persona3 fes if you can. It's a great game I can also tell you 4's great too, but a lot less dark atmosphere. They are both great games though. :) Hope you end up getting to play this game.

@smbz821 Sorry but reviews mean shit to me, and the story and battle system is why I hated the game, it was presented so horribly, and the battle system was a joke, I use the same damn strategy to beat every boss (including vercingetorix) Enix tried something new but fail at it, maybe square enix is the reason why final fantasy suck now.
@hacker4637 personally I loved the battle system, yeah it was different, JUST LIKE FFXII, but I liked 13 more than 12 or even 9, in fact... 12 has to be the one that's totally different from the rest of the series! I'd give it a 6/10, and 9 only a 7.5/10, 13 gets 8/10, I am satisfied with the review because I got what they told me, UNLIKE XII and when it comes to persona, 3 is a 8/10 for me while persona 4 is a 9/10

@smbz821 It's more like the other Shin Megami Tensei games are underrated. Not the persona series it gets a lot of attention not as much as final fantasy, but still a decent amount. Another underrated series is shadow hearts if you've ever heard of it.

@GliscorX2 It has "The Journey" (Persona 3 original game with a few added things) and "The Answer" as well. Don't bother with the original Persona 3, just get FES. And P3P while you're at it! :P

By any chance, how long is Persona 3 FES? Recently I purchased this game from a Sears store, and several of my friends have been telling me the game is past 100 hours in length. Plus, according to them, it's enjoyable too.

@Lights3287 The game can easily be 60-100+ hours depending on how in-depth you get. The game is very enjoyable imo but a bit difficult at times

Lol yeah, silly me forgot to read the back of the Persona 3 box that the average length of the game is 100+ hours plus an additional 30 hours of The Answer campaign.

I've found that to be true about all Megami Tensei games, even spinoff series like Persona or Digital Devil Saga. No matter how well-prepared you are, they'll kill you from time to time and there's nothing you can do about it.
SMT: Nocturne wins my trophy for Most Brutal JRPG. Seriously, that game can kill you in the tutorial fight.

ok i played p3 but not p3 f.e.s. whats the diff between the two? is it just the fact that u can see the armor they wear when ur in battle, also it the only other diff is that u can change thier clothe?? (from seeing it in this vid).

@theskyisfaling changes in the social links,more personas, more objects and some more things to do and other minor changes in "The Journey"(p3 actual game). It also haves a completely new chapter called "the answer" that tooks place after the original game and where you control Aigis as MC instead of minato. It consists in a new Maze and about 15 extra hours of gameplay but there is not social simulation in this expansion.

Yes, and just fyi there are three versions of Persona 3:
Persona 3 (PS2)
Persona 3 FES (PS2, updated version)
Persona 3 Portable (PSP, even more updated version, but doesn't have "The Answer" storyline from FES)

Can I start playing P3FES and load my P3 NG+ save to have all my money, etc. from begining, or I must start completly new game?

@Vladislav187 Yup, there should be a notification when you start up The Journey on P3 FES. Something about previous save data, so I think you'd be able to load data from the original to your FES.

@hacker4637 yeah i know what you mean. but its like if they were both books persona has this super awesome story driven elements with awesome character development but final fantasy's cover is encrusted with diamonds and sparklers and everyone goes "oooooooo so pretty!!!" its going to be fun to see who has the best story: Atlus's Persona Team's Catherine (if you haven't seen the trailers yet prepare for your jaw to fall off) or SquareEnix's FF13 VS.

@hacker4637 Just goes to show, How Companies throw aside AMAZING games, just to get into HD Graphics, Not caring about the Storyline, and the Battle system, I made it to chapter 11, and FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU Boss is Imortal to me, and WTF? You get a Time Limit !?!? I fought him for 1 hour or so, and then got the *DOOM* timer I'm like "Wtf" so i shut off the game, threw it aside and went back in time, FF10 <3

@hacker4637 why not? battle system is great, story is decent, voice acting is competent, no need to say anything about the visuals, lengthy lifespan, ok soundtrack, yet too linear, 8/10 is pretty much right, persona 4 got 9/10 so don't expect to be dazzled too much other than exciting visuals when playing FFXIII. overrated? I don't think so, persona ignored? no way either!

@smbz821 Sorry but reviews mean shit to me, and the story and battle system is why I hated the game, it was presented so horribly, and the battle system was a joke, I use the same damn strategy to beat every boss (including vercingetorix) Enix tried something new but fail at it, maybe square enix is the reason why final fantasy suck now.

@hacker4637 personally I loved the battle system, yeah it was different, JUST LIKE FFXII, but I liked 13 more than 12 or even 9, in fact... 12 has to be the one that's totally different from the rest of the series! I'd give it a 6/10, and 9 only a 7.5/10, 13 gets 8/10, I am satisfied with the review because I got what they told me, UNLIKE XII and when it comes to persona, 3 is a 8/10 for me while persona 4 is a 9/10

@smbz821 Yeah different can be a good or bad thing, FF 13 bad it,was generic as hell, with a terrible story, well I don't have a problem with you liking the game, but no doubt ff12 is a better game, and if you want to talk about reviews, ff12 has gotten higher scores then ff13,and every ff is different from each other no ff is the same,well your entitle to your opinion, I'm entitle to mine.

@hacker4637 yeah yeah, the whole entitled to your opinion thing, the point is that FF13 isn't shit, trust me, I've seen some crappier games that would make you drop the control even before you get halfway there, at least I was able to reach the final chapter of FF13 (lost disc) and let me just say again that persona isn't underrated, it's got like awards and stuff and I actually have friends who play it, wanna know underrated? Godhand, it's not rpg, but it still is underrated...

@smbz821 It's more like the other Shin Megami Tensei games are underrated. Not the persona series it gets a lot of attention not as much as final fantasy, but still a decent amount. Another underrated series is shadow hearts if you've ever heard of it.

@wdbisl ah yes, shadow hearts, I've played it on the ps2, but I forgot what it was about because it's been years and the disc was broken, but it was truly enjoyable, idk about the SMT games, I played one and still found persona to be better...

@smbz821 Ya theres shadow hearts (the first one), shadow hearts covenant (2nd), and shadow hearts from the new world(this game has all new characters and is considered the weakest in the series). Theres also the game Koudelka on the ps1 which is shadow hearts prequel.

@smbz821 What can't respect opinions,I said ff 13 is bad for a FF game.Yeah it's not the worse, but still bad.I finish FF 13 to and I was able to max out all my characters in under a hundred hours, usually it would take a little above that, listen kid, the truth is FF 13 holds on to your hand alot with out that much of a skill or strategy, mix that up with a bad story, terrible dialog, generic characters( and you'll get a BAD FF game,)When I mean by ignore I mean consumers, not press related
