  • hey guys im having trouble doing this on larger opponents. They counter by lifting me up followed by shaking me off. Any way i can prevent this? Should I be faster so that they won't have the time to lift me? or am i doing the armbar too loose? thnx

  • @hermansung Whenever I had trouble completing this, I would just spin underneath them and turn them over, then complete the armbar.

  • s4ncheezy i would have shot your dumb ass if you would have tryed that superman bullshit with me.plus im an excellent fighter.so i dont really need a pussy ass gun bitch.

  • lol imagine getting a boner while in closed guard and ur dick goes up the guys ass and he taps

  • @halorunescaper kid u gay

  • @hauntedgfx do u have aproblem with gays my lesbian gf will kick ur ass in sambo

  • @halorunescaper kid u gay

  • Armbar is a catch wrestling move. Far predates bjj

  • With Judo you cant touch the face. Why should i do instead???

  • @2ossy Pushing the face is not necessary. It only makes it easier for begginners. Once you get good, you don't need to touch the face, so no worries.

  • Arm bars hurt my balls

  • @ElectricalNoises Me too. I wear a cup.

  • One time, I got into a fight with 9 guys. I did 5 flying armbars, 3 flying triangle chokes and 1 flying omoplata. I broke their limbs, took their wallets, came on their sisters' faces and made them watch as she slurped it up.

    True story

And what's funny is I instigated the fight. Thank you Jujitsu!

  • on time i rear naked choked a guy, what i did not realize at the moment that his friend was next to me, so he kicked mi in the head, he kicked me real hard. it hurt, so dont try it at home!

  • wrong you dont let go of the wrist u let go of the elbow. u fail

  • @samhight47 U failed at just posting ur comment.

  • wrong you dont et go of the wrist u let go of the elbow. u fail

  • this is how i was taught to do it and it is my go to in competition.

  • Nice basics

  • @rapsucks669 Im sure i can break your arm in less then a second.

  • @rapsucks669 You don't know SHIT about fighting. If i'm fighting one person (one person, key. otherwise it changes totally) I'll just shoot for a double leg take down. I'll get it, because they'll be a dumbass like you and just try and elbow me instead of sprawling. when im on top i'll get side control bc you dont know what the fuck guard is. then i'll break something. THEN i will stomp you.

  • @newerest1 LOL you couldnt have explained it any better.

  • a mix of bjj and muay thai or bjj and tkd bjj makes a really good compliment

  • its all about developing a balanced fighting style, if you see an opportunity on the last or second to last opponent to sacrifice a rib for one of his elbows its a good trade. plus its really nice to have jujitsu to fall back on for your last opponent as you will likely be drained of energy by that point. Anyway you dont need bjj specifically but you HAVE to have some grappling skill if you wanna be any kind of a decant fighter. also concrete is a huge advantage to a bjj practitioner

  • Check out the Jiu Jitsu demonstration on my profile, it is showcasing the Shorinji-Kan style from all levels

  • @rapsucks669 and u cant end a fight quick w/ bjj? would be hard to fight back when your arm is broken or ur passed out from getting choked out.

  • You have no clue what your talking about.

  • you think ur amateur bites and kicks is gonna work. this is slow motion. when you see a real pro do when they grab, they grab so fast it will leave u stunned. take can execute this in less than a second.

  • in a fight one blow can do it but if it goes to the ground this could come in handy. but i already know my shit about fighting

  • @ rap sucks yea if your gay

  • Jiu jitsu> any other combat sport PERIOD. Anyone who doesn't agree should find out for themselves

  • true

  • @187onapig idk about that its great and all but generally to strikers who dont know much about it. if you fought a muay thai practitioner who knew how to defend against it ur gonna get elbowes and knees to the face

  • jiujutsu is really important and beats every other martial arts sports 1 on 1 besides mma wich got everything please dont mention karate to much jackie chan i suppose

  • its not the art its practitioner. obviously when the fight goes to the ground the bjj guy is going to win because thats just about all they practice so duhh(that is if he is'nt knocked out from a slam) but on the feet they stand no chance to most other arts because they hardly do standup at most schools anyways. Look at gsp when he beat bj penn karate vs bjj or machida they all have some bjj but its not as elite as their opponents

  • Do you take Jiu-Jitsu? Guessing by your comment that's a know, take Jiu-Jitsu, it does teach you standup, maybe not all strikes, but trips, takedowns etc, reversals when your are in standup, so please, don't talk about Jiu-Jitsu

  • your guessing that's a "know" lol you mean no i suppose. I have done everything from wrestling, sambo, bjj, judo, karate, boxing etc.. a wide range of arts from many different clubs in each art. The point I was trying to make is not that they don't teach certain things at all but that they place much heavier emphasis on certain aspects of fighting hence the fighters will be more skilled in that aspect of the fight. Continued in the next post...

  • Therefore, a bjj player who knows a judo throw will not execute the throw better than a judo player who has practiced it over and over. In much the same way that a judo player will not execute many chokes and sweeps that a bjj player has spent much more time practicing. Everything takes time to master.

  • Sorry about the confusion there =p

I thought you meant that they don't teach anything standing up in Jiu-Jitsu haha, guess it was because it was late.

  • no, it's because most fight will eventually end on the ground in a 1 on 1 scenario unless the people fighting are so unskilled or lucky that a few punches can knock a person out

  • ever been in a fight before? I've seen someone get knocked out from a single punch to the chest. Real self defense involves strikes to vital areas not fucking armbars. Don't regurgitate your b.s. to me. It's best to be versed in every aspect of a fight whether its for sport or life.

  • im talking about competitions, in a real fight, i'd throw sand in ur eyes and punch u in the throat. and in a real fight, if i block ur punch with my elbows, chances are that your hand is going to break

  • oh word ur gonna block with your elbows and throw sand in my eyes lol nice dude i'm not gonna mess with you

  • come on man, your talking about real fights. and it's all about survival, if i can get anything to turn the tide, i would. i can guarantee that everybody here would do the same when their life is endangered. don't you agree too?

  • thats what i said strikes to vital areas. u mentioned throat theres also groin, body strikes, eye gouge etc.

  • ya, so we're cool ok?

  • yup. the self defense is avoidance ;)

  • its not closed guard,.. its open guard foot on hip....

  • The position started from closed guard, looks like a closed guard arm bar to me.......master.

  • then he opens it, retard

  • It starts in closed, that means it's an armbar from CLOSED guard, just as the title states. You can't be a "master" of bjj.........come on dude.

  • @thebjjmaster it starts from closed guard.

  • "Wouldnt work in the street or war" I guess thats why the U.S. army and Marines use jiu-jitsu in there army combatives and mcmap training. Please remove head from third point of contact prior to posting B.S. on someone's video.

  • no shit brother im glad someona has some sense in this bitch besides me, I know jhon david very pretty good and his whole system will make someone a top tier fighter I dont care who you are.

  • that's make me laugh. only playing that will work. jiu-jitsu is only for fun. impossible to do anything against a street fighter or a persons who knows karate etc

  • jiu jitsu is only for fun? tell that to any1 who does any type of mma and see what they say.

  • i mean as sport and you have to protect your ears. one guy that participated and is now training people to mma was my neighbor. i saw him training and i dont believe in that to street fight or war combat.

some say that they agree before the fight in the big one fights.

  • Comment removed

  • thats a really stupid thing to say. you should start a fight with a 7th degree black belt in jiu jitsu under the conditions he cant throw any punches and can only fight when hes on the ground.. see what happens you idiot

  • i dont agree with you. he will be on the ground after the first punch. so the idiot i think is you

  • thats the plan, slip, takedown, good night

  • @alexrj2 Im guessing you dont train in anything because of your ignorant comment.

  • @bmendez187 ignorant is your affirmation

  • its not a closed gaurd when you open it

  • This is how it should be done.

  • this takes a while to learn it right and to get it right, in a fight..ive seen idiot kids who watch shit on internet trying to do it, their stupid and it never works to their advantage, its pretty easy to roll out of or pass some persons guard, who dosent know what their doing..THESE videos should only be used to correct some questions you might have about when you spar with people at your mma gym or bjj dojo

  • teaching a gi-style arm bar to no-gi fighters.....

  • BJJ is spectacular.

If you want to see the ultimate flying submissions, look for my videos!!

  • woo 188,000 viewer!!

  • i never understood this.... doesnt the guys arm crush ur balls when u raise ur hips?? lol im so confused somone please help and reply

  • it does but people were a cup but i didnt have one last class and we learn this so i know lol

  • ohhhh you where a cup.... that makes more sence lol

  • not they wear a cup sry lol

  • no you clamp your legs together like a vice on the upper arm when it is up high then pull down... the upper arm stays there and the lower arm gets pulled down and then pop goes the elbow!... In essence you are bending the arm the way it is not supposed to be bent

  • No it doesnt :) Also most use cups anyway so even if you did it wrong it wouldnt crush your balls :P

  • that's what happens to me. lol

  • sweeeeeeeeet

  • wow sweet we just learned that in jujitsu last nite

  • obviously it works, i would suggest the video poster to do a full speed one after the demonstration because outsiders will say sumthing lyk it is not goin 2 work bcuz they do it slowly.

  • it won't work because he is sporting the phil collins hair style!

  • Thats why you do it really fast

  • if you cant do if before he has the chance to punch you, you need to train more.

  • it's called jiu jitsu..... u get disqualified for that

  • @evan903 what, its not sport jiu-jitsu, its tridional, anything goes, street fight situation as 80% of fights end up on the ground.

how can u get disqualified? honesly dont understand

  • @peterbf91

Well, saying 80% of fights end up on the ground is a misnomer. If somebody gets knocked out or knocked down, yeah, it ends up on the ground, and then you get ghetto stomped. I took Tae Kwon Do and was taught how to get up if I'm knocked down with someone on top of me. But in a real street fight situation, if it does end up with you on the ground, you're most likely fucked, no matter what training you have. Not like street fights are fair, anyways.

  • @Urdarbrunn Once 3 people were running at me, I kicked the one guy away with a normal kick, i did a standing rear naked choke at some other guy and when the third guy came i pushed the semi conscious guy toward that guy. with time still i went to the guy who i kicked and applied a heel hook. his ankle broke and i ran. It was lucky though they did not have knives;

  • @DarkGuitarKid So you're telling me that in the 10+ seconds it takes to choke another guy into semi-conciousness, his buddies stood there and watched?

Smells like bullshit, kid. Nobody really watches you smack down their friends. They gang up on you and punch in the back of the head when you try to choke someone out. Coolo story, though.

  • @Urdarbrunn No dude, they did beat me. yes it took only 10 seconds to choke that person. I don't know why. they were probably fucked up on drugs or some of that shit.

and yes it only takes less than 4 seconds to break a his leg with a heel hook

  • @DarkGuitarKid that's funny cuz heel hooks don't break the ankle. They tear ligaments in the knee. But good try man!

  • @tinsteroids Idk man. i just know his heel(?)(the other end of your leg below the ankle) went the other side.

  • @tinsteroids I mean the other end of his Foot*

  • We all know everyone has a variation and depending on your opponents positioning you may be able to apply different options. Some are more applicable than others but all are good in there particular application.

  • Hmm. Is it a very large difference to grab the tricep and the wrist? I often find that I don't have the power to pull the other guy's arm across to my shoulder on the other side, perhaps it was because I never specifically targetted the tricep.

I also didn't open up my guard to position my legs as demonstrated here. I'm glad I learned something new to try out.

    Thanks for the vid!

  • yeah its wird how in every vid of somthing theres always someone who thinks thay can do better mike hunter will tear your ass up buddy

  • yea too much movement

  • agreed. by the 3rd move in the technique if your opponent is any good, he wil have figured out what your trying to do at this point and already be defending

  • you should secure the other arm first that way they cant push you away, no?

  • nonce

  • your a fucking retard, you are jabbing your heels into there back., u gotta get your hooks inplace so they cant move, then u get there arm behind yours and do a swift gaurd move

  • to much leg work. it would be hard to pull this off in an actual fight. its faster if you post the oppeset foot on the waist and just swing your leg over his head.

  • yeah i agree its better to grab the back of the head for more control while pivoting with your one arm on his hand. sort of like the flying armbar.

  • This is pretty sweet. This is exactly the way Ricardo Liborio taught it at a seminar, he made a big deal about cranking the right leg down hard into the shoulders so they couldnt posture until you had the other leg over though,.. and he showed the sweep to make it easier to finish too.

  • HOT MOVE!

  • if he continued what could happen first? a broken neck or the arm? just wonder

  • a broken arm, as it hyperextends the elbow

  • i like your video!!!!!

  • good~^^ thank you~

  • after watching this, it makes me feel bad that i quit my BJJ class =[

it makes me want to join again

  • Why would you even do this to a guy!?

  • if you did mma you would know

  • Trust me, if a guy had you in this position and applied pressure you'd be screaming for mercy!

  • because it works....if you want you can break his arm and the law favour this over kicking the shit out of him

  • But what has he done to deserve it!?

  • its just to show you what to do . fool

  • Sorry. I didnt know

  • Better to pass your left leg tight to his face to avoid him getting his free arm in to block your leg as you're passing it across his face.

Also, keep your knees wide while applying the submission. If your knees are tight and the opponent stacks to escape, he will crush your legs down and nullify your submission. Knees wide moves his face and keeps him at bay if he tries to stack.

  • fight clinic sucks they just ok in bjj

  • Impossible? Small guys win fights with this armbar all the time vs huge guys. Look up fedor vs choi. Not that fedor is samll. But compared to this giant he was.

  • Leave Fedor alone. Fedor is a class for himslef and hes got amazing power.

It was similar but not the same armbar. He was underneath him but fedor needed to hung on him and pull his whole body on the left side not touching the ground and he failed doing it the first time. This armbar is far from easy

  • choi was just to slow. plus, he made the same mistake twice. fedor damn near got him in that armbar and couldn't pull it off, the choi let him do it again for the submission. with enough speed , that armbar technique will work on anyone, no matter how big or small they are.

  • i dont think that it is good idea to leave his second hand between the legs.. thats stupid.. if he wouldnt be noob he will just grab his arm and try tu pull it out of armbar...

  • its all fine . my bad

  • if i understand what you're saying, you can't pull your own arm out of an armbar, forcing the wrist will cause him to relinquish his grip and the other arm because it is so painful, and when he does release it, the person from guard can fall back into the armbar.

  • well if he tries to pull his arm out with his other hand you can eisily switch to a bicep slicer which is almost like a triangle but with his arm. He will let go of that arm quick and then its back to the armbar

  • that was good and some one is right on u dont have to push the head bt its a good vid and yes u should ull the head down way before you turn your hips

  • Trust me, if the opponet is massive this armbar is practically IMPOSSIBLE to pull out.

You cant just turn the back of a 300 pound guy with your right leg light that. Only of a 120 pound kid like they did on this video.

  • I lol'd at that because I'm 185lbs and I did an armbar from the bottom on a guy who weighed 280lbs... just tonight, at practice.

  • i also tried a basic armbar from mount in response section

  • After i learned this i tried my own in the video response section

  • nice technique on the demonstration, thanks

  • forgot one big thing, pull the head down before you turn your hips

  • kind of sloppy armbar. the focus of the guy applying the armbar should be more on his left arm that his right arm. that way he can use the right to further control the guy.

  • sorry liberaldemocrat but in the words of a great rocl band (metalica) "to secure peace IS TO PREPARE FOR WAR"

  • ... "si vis pacem para bellum"

few years older than metallica is

  • that is so gay,

  • Something like 90% of fights will end up going to the ground; if you want to fight, you better learn some kind of ground game: BJJ, AJJ, GJJ, Shoot wrestling, Judo something.

  • FIGHTING IS EVIL. we MUST all LOVE and HELP each other. people of all races and religions should get together and stop all the wars and help the environment. we should be NICE to terrorists and maybe they will leave us alone. we should pay the African-Americans reparations for slavery and beg for forgiveness. let's support gay marriages. let's put a Democrat in the White House so my dreams can come true. Hopefully, Hillary will be the first FEMALE president!

  • SHUT UO YOU STUPID LESBIAN.

  • That is the ONLY reason Hillary will be considered for candidacy: because she's a woman. This however does not dictate her ability to lead a country.

  • errr... I agree with all that you said, but I love martial arts and I love fighting... with rules, respect and honor... you really think that's wrong?

  • wow guy you got some issues. fighting is not evil!!! And you are a huge moron for wanting to be "nice" to terrorists. They arent attacking us because we're big meanies sorry to bust your bubble. And this armbar... your should have the arm straight along your torso, not over your opposite shoulder that way your dont have to worry about this pushing the head away nonsense.

  • at the school i go to, they teach bjj and muay thai. the blk dudes try out bjj for a couple of days and then drop out due to frustration. they hate it when the white guys easily choke them out or slap arm bars on them. so they only stick with muay thai cuz they are only good at striking.

  • arashonline, the point im trying to make is that i live in a mostly black neigbborhood and the blk dudes i know hate mma. they say that bjj and wrestling isnt fighting. only punching is real fighting-like boxing. they are jealous since Most blks dont do well in mma.

  • sloppy

  • it would be funny to see all those rappers who try to act big and bad in their music videos try to fight in mma. they would get destroyed.

  • so would any musician, idiot.

  • Well, technically, the rappers only act tough via their weapons. They don't claim to be street fighters but rather street shooters. Even then, they aren't exactly gun dualists.

But, yeah, I'd like to see one of these BJJ/MAA guys kick their asses. Shut up 'em up.

  • fortunately, most of the people who study bjj are not ignorant troublemakers and dont go around looking for trouble like the cowardly street thugs who only act tuff when they have a weapon or have a bunch of friends to back them up. street thugs who only attack in groups and fight 5 on 1, etc.

  • the biggest mistake the gracies ever did was to teach their style of jiu-jitsu to people outside their family. that's why the gracies no longer dominate mma. call me greedy but if i was a gracie, i would only teach it to my family. by spreading their style around the world, the gracie mystique is gone. it's sad.

  • more than mystique, there is also legacy. as long as people use their techniques, they will not be forgotten. and practically, it is another source of revenue. it isnt like they are going to get a wheaties enoursment

  • if you watch this with music playing in the backround and mute the video, it looks hilarious

  • I say spend less time learning how to injure people and more time learning to help people. Go plant a dang tree or something. You cant grapple the bullet that 12 year old is going to put in you "Just for fun"

  • Well instead of typing on the internet, why aren't you out planting a tree or something?

Typing messeges on youtube isn't "learning to help people"

  • Killersushi you are a pussy and a faggot. You are intimidated by people who can defend themselves and arent liberal pussies like you. Its a sport.. I would bet any amount of money you dont an ounce of athletic ability in your body. You are a loser. Plenty of "good" people train bjj and mma. You are a close minded douche bag.

  • This is why I switched from Jiu Jitsu to MMA. There are so many people out there teaching moves the wrong way. There is no reason to put your hand over the face/head. You pivot your body to get to the angle to hook your other leg over his head. You let go of that arm, you'll lose it. I'm a blue belt in BJJ btw. You could puch the head out of the way, it might help, but to say thats the way to get hooked up into it is wrong.

  • Ironically enough to me this looks like a MMA class. 1, b/c they aren't wearing GI's and 2, one of them is wearing gloves. So i think this MMA teacher is teaching it "wrong" (even though i think it's right) not a Jiu Jitsu teacher.

  • pushing the face away and leaving only one hand to secure the arm is pretty risky in NHB but This armbar is usually taught to most bjj and judo beginners as their first armbar from guard so perhaps they excercise the one hand face push because some beginners just dont have the fast twitch hips and smooth movement that a more advanced practitioner would have.

  • this is right, the first time you start to learn the arm bar you learn this. a beginner who doesnt have great control over his hips could swing out to far and the lock might become too loose or he might throw himself out of position. if you have your legs tight and knees pinched it is not easy to pull your arm out especially with a gi on, plus trying to pull away is not always the best thing to do.

  • When someone gets this arm-bar on you, it hurts like hell (so you tap or it gets broken)

  • You guys are way to worried about your pride saying that this is gay. Learn what a guard is. Would you rather get pounded or look "gay" in the eyes of some less mature people. Now I dont like this particular style of armbar but i will respect it!!! Grow up, how is knowing how to fight the real way gay?

  • it's got a real name, 'oplata' or something similar

  • An omloplata is a lock place on the shoulder, this is an armbar.

  • its works-used it before and tapped a few ppl out with it-just have to keep them really tight-even easyer with a GI you. you can trap there arm-this is off the renzo graice dvd

  • I'd like to see how gay you think it is when you fight a jiu jitsu specialist with a "no-tapping" rule enforced. Make a video of you going to a jiu jitsu school, tell the instructor what you think, be sure to get it on camera for our entertainment (you future paraplegic), and post it on YouTube.

  • So this is why it doesn't look that way? Lame excuse. You're a child who thinks this stuff actually matters.

  • two guys toching each other for so long , i don't know thats kind of , let me see ... like the guy above said :too gay

  • HAHAHA!!!! You fucking faggot! You do Aikido aka the gayest martial art ever! Scratch that the gayest form of dancing in the world. Aikido is a fake martial art that cant be used in real life. So Shut up.

  • thats gay

  • STFU

  • it only looks gay up until the moment you get your arm snapped. Then it's not so gay anymore. In fact, it's rather excruciatingly painful-you'd wish you were cold-cocked in the head by chuck liddell instead.

  • its gay that you get so close with a stranger.particulary if its a man.

  • Yet this shit would own your pussy ass. I can picture you crying for your mommy/boyfriend/pimp when someone gets you in an armbar.

  • If I was the guy on top, while the guy on the bottom went through all of his technical stuff I would have him punched several times with my left hand.

  • That's why in a situation where people can punch each other, the on
