  • ......damian? xD

  • the venues used to be smaller xD

  • LOVE HER, ABSOLUTELY DESERVED

  • I would have adored to have been there to see her play Blanche in A Streetcar Named Desire in New York!

  • Jessica's record as oldest winner is in serious jeopardy- both Christopher Plummer and Max von Sydow could break her record. I think Christopher Plummer has a serious chance to win.

  • @EricAKATheBelgianGuy Well, if Plummer wins she'll still be the oldest female winner.

  • @EricAKATheBelgianGuy I hope Plummer wins, he really deserves it!

  • Isabelle Adjani was robbed of the Oscar...

  • PECK.They sure don't build them like thay anymore.A real man.

  • I can't believe all of the comments on this video are praising everyone but Jessica Tandy (even Gregory Peck?). I think her Oscar was well-deserved and that Tandy is a genius!

  • Miss Tandy's record of being the oldest winner of an acting oscar is likely to be beaten this year when Christopher Plummer wins for BEGINEERS

  • pfeiffer was awesome in her role

  • Just hearing the voice of Gregory Peck is like hearing God speak!

  • @Vash1286 your comment is funny.

  • @Vash1286 your comment is funny.

  • wooooow gregory peck, anda jessica tandy amazing aactors

  • They would never give an Oscar to an old granny nowadays unless it was Meryl Streep. Hollywood hates old ladies now. It's a shame!

  • @ButtHaver1993 That's the score from Driving Miss Daisy, written by Hans Zimmer.

  • That music is AMAZING does anyone know what it's called?

  • @ButtHaver1993

Its the music called "Home" by Hans Zimmer...

  • Driving Miss Crazy.

  • From the fox in 'The Birds' to lookin like a man?

  • I just love that music...! And Jessica is GRACE and BEAUTY...!!

  • One of the most talented American actresses to ever grace the stage and appear on film..brilliant performance and well deserved Oscar. The give and take between Mr. Freeman and Ms. Tandy pulled at my heart and mind throughout the film..both top notch award winning actors. May she rest peace and thank you Ms. Tandy for your work. God Bless.

  • @txladyification uhm, sorry, i think she's english. although you're right, she had emense success of the american stage and screen. LOL the origional Blanche Dubois.

  • @txladyification she was English!

  • Atticus Finch!

  • @theballer04 Yes Atticus/Gregory Peck the best! Speaking of great actors, and albeit I agree Jessica Tandy was wonderful and deserved the award for her work here, but I ALWAYS felt since this movie first began filming in the late 80's that the perfect actress for the role would have been Audrey Hepburn, in a great come back role and performance. As we know she died 3 years later in eary 1993 but she could have done this film in '88/'89 and I bet would have gotten many awards. Just a thought.

  • should have gone to Isabelle Adjani

  • @KrueMann1992 I disagree, Jessica Tandy was amazing, sadly she dies four years later. she will never be forgotten and this performance did her and the Oscars justice.

  • what year was this award cermony?

  • @mcdonnellkate 1990 i believe

  • wooow Mister Gregory Peck and the amazing Mrs. Tandy

  • Jessica Tandy was delivered a great performance in ''Driving Miss Daisy''! I was so happy she won and now she's a legend as the oldest Oscar winning actress at the age of 80. But I think is should have been a tie between her and Michelle Pfeiffer. Her performance in the Fabulous Baker Boys was incredible as well. Michelle needs to win an Oscar she deserves one!

  • My uncle wrote Driving Miss Daisy.

  • @coldbeatle89 He did a Great Job!!

  • She definatly earned it.

  • The oldest actress to win an Academy Award.

  • Classy, classy lady.

  • I miss that sweet lady :(

  • @lovinglifelovinghim me too :( shes a woman with so much heart :(

  • towanda :)

  • Jessica Tandy was a such a classy woman...you deserve it

  • OMG, 1:32-1:34 there's turban lady from this year's Oscars. O_O

  • Tender story. Great photography and brilliant music. My favourite picture is when camera is on the tyre ( when she wants to go to grocery ), car moves off and the main music theme starts.

  • Jessica Tandy was excellent in "Driving Miss Daisy" but Isabelle Adjani gave a powerhouse performance in "Camille Claudel".

  • The best actres was Isabellel Adjani

  • I couldn't agree more with the exception of Tandy. Her performance was one of the best ever in my opinion and would've won in most other years.

  • Very weak year!

  • I thought Pfeiffer really deserved this one but alas.

  • @ggfanjase agreed

  • Also, I love the sweet kiss on the cheek from Hume Cronyn.

  • Her record as the oldest winner could be in jeopardy, because Christopher Plummer is getting some serious buzz for "Beginners."

  • "Her record as the oldest winner could be in jeopardy, because Christopher Plummer is getting some serious buzz for 'Beginners.' "

@EricAKATheBelgianGuy I thought Gloria Stuart already shattered that record when she was nominated at 87 for TITANIC.

  • Never mind Gloria Stuart is the oldest nominated. If Plummer wins he'll be the oldest winner. He's 82 and Tandy was 80 here.

  • i double dare ya to watch the nursing home thanksgiving scene and not cry...

  • "That's VULGAR! DON'T TALK TO ME!"

  • A great actress and a very great lady. Well deserved.

  • She was so divine...that's it...just divine!

  • Broadway's original Blanche DuBois (Tandy) goes head-to-head with Broadway's next Blanche DuBois (Lange).

  • I recommand Driving Miss Daisy to all the traditional parents.

  • It would be more than another decade and a half when her co-star Morgan Freeman wins his oscar for best supporting actor.

  • Went I went to audition at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, they actually had her Oscar on display! It was so cool lol

  • I was lucky enough to have seen her in The Gin Game and Glass Menagerie on Bway. But my greatest theatre moment ever was at a memorial service for Tennessee Williams at the Shubert Theatre in NY where Jessica Tandy lost 30 yrs. in a split second and became Blanche Dubois delivering a monologue from Streetcar. The only true spontaneous standing ovation I have ever witnessed occured the split second she finished! Truly amazing!

  • i love this music from driving miss daisy

  • The oldest winner of a competitive Oscar, at nearly 81, surpassing the achievement of George Burns.

  • Jessica Tandy came on very strong in her later years....like Katharine Hepburn and others, the epitome of continuity throughout a career.

  • Morgan Freeman was sure happy.

  • Look at Jessica Lange at 1:02 when he says "Jessica..." she looks at him quite quick thinking she may have won...

  • How weird I was just thinking about this today and here it is. I'm so glad Jessica won for her role. She was one of the most deserving Best Actress winners ever. I wish the Oscars had done this for Gloria Stuart and Imelda Staunton.

  • Thanks so much for uploading this! My favourite movie :)

  • rip Jessica, we miss you.

  • just teared up

  • I was waiting for this one... thanks for posting.

  • The original Blanche Duboise!

  • She is the most beautiful old woman I've ever seen , I'm wondering she was Very beautiful when she was young .

  • The most deserving award ever in the History of Oscars... She was breathtaking!!!

  • @molecularqw No Way...If Jessica Tandy wouldnt hav won, there is no GOD!!!

  • Oh I love Gregory Peck :)

  • loved her in "the birds"

  • she deserved it

  • Rick Moranis is in the audience haha

  • @SuperRod88 He presented that year with John Candy and Bugs Bunny

  • Isabelle Adjani deserved it !!! Oh yeah i've forgotten, it's not an english role, she couldn't win

  • @footvideo2 but you have forgot about Sophia Loren, Roberto Bengini and Marion Cottilard

  • @nWo315

Wonderful !!! 3 non english roles vs 500 english roles

Academy awards always avantage english roles

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • Has anyone taken a look at the girl who hands over the Oscar to Gregory Peck? Talk about late 80s-early 90s hairdo...Brilliant performance by Jessica Tandy; I preferred Pauline Collins or Michelle Pfeiffer (whom I stopped liking as an actress quite some time ago), but this was a good winner. Isabelle Adjani and Jessica Lange also gave very good performances.

  • it's not even a sentimental vote. Tandy was fantastic in "Driving Miss Daisy". No argument.

  • Jessica Tandy, in "Driving Miss Daisy", gave an acting class!

  • She could have thanked Morgan.

  • @myrnaloysboy She did - she thanked her entire cast

  • Oh god, my heart weights heavy for the magnificent Pfeiffer. Not since Garbo has an actress so beautiful been so BRILLIANT in Hollywood. This was a travesty.

  • Oh, dear g-d, Isabelle Adjani was phenomenal in "Camille Claudel!!"

  • I prefered Michelle Pfeiffer myself & Pauline Collins had me laughing all the way through Shirley Valentine, so either of these I would have wanted. Ms Tandy got the lifelong career vote.

  • Tandy was excellent and moving, BUT Michelle Pfeiffer was robbed, as she deserved to win this hands down. She gave her greatest performance. Jessica should've won for Fried Green Tomatoes.

    My ranking:

    1) Pfeiffer

    2) Collins

    3) Tandy

    4) Lange

    5) Adjani

  • @dinasztie You are absolutely right! Pfeiffer was robbed. I loved Tandy but I thought it was also strange she did not think Freeman.

  • @dinasztie Wrong: Most probable ranking by votes: 1.Tandy 2.Adjani 3.Lange 4.Pfeiffe 5.Collins

  • It's called the sentimental vote, and it's been happening for years at the Oscars. Though I think Jessica Tandy truly deserved her oscar here.

  • @SoulTrain321 Why are you blaming Jessica Tandy? She was voted by the academy members as the best actress, it's not like she voted for herself. O_o

Anyway, I remember being really happy when she won the award, I absolutely loved her performance in "Driving Miss Daisy". =)

  • winona should've been nominated for heathers!

  • I love the fact that right after Jessica Tandy's name was called, Morgan Freeman helped her up the stage like a true gentleman. That man is a true class act.

  • Am I the only one noticing that the person whose video is shown first or last tends to win?

  • "Driving Miss Daisy" sucks!

  • @Beale64 fuck you

  • Amazing performance. One of the most heartbreaking and touching of all. Jessica Tandy was at her best during the last years of her career.

  • I'd love it if you guys could put Gregory Peck's Oscar victory speech for "To Kill a Mockingbird". So Oscars, when you're doing your next batch of uploads, could you try to keep that in mind?

  • What a charming performance by one of the best actresses of the 20th century.
