@Deel73 Yes it is, i went last weekend its great. Its not the original 1 because that was knocked down (which was clever) and this 1 was built more or less next door using the same bricks and more or less the same layout
can someone tell me who each band member is and where their from (like what band they were in) I only recognize Gilmour from Pink Floyd, and I think one of them is Ian Paice from Deep Purple.
Goin' down to lonesome town, Where the broken hearts stay, Goin' down to lonesome town To cry my troubles away. In the town of broken dreams, The streets are filled with regret, Maybe down in lonesome town, I can learn to forget. [To forget] Maybe down in lonesome town, I can learn to forget, [Lonesome town]
once a Beatle always a beatle, when Sir Paul is on stage every one else is second fiddle he steals the show, paul is the god of singers. long live Paul
That happens to all singers as they get older, it happened to Elvis, Elton, Frank, but know what you mean, that's what was so unique about John & Paul together.
i'm so jealous. one of the guys i work with is england, from liverpool. anyway, he used to see the beatles there, and he knew lennon, from the neighborhood. and i had a patient a couple of years ago, who grew up in liverpool with paul's dad.
Yes he is. And on drums is Ian Paice from Deep Purple. There is an album-cd with old rock`n roll songs with this guys namend "Run Devil Run" from Paul McCartney
@randomdave30 What the hell are you talking about? Roger Waters and David Gilmour falling out with each other? David is a CLOSE friend of Paul. I'm sure they get along just fine.
@marv0385 I know McCartney and Gilmour are friends but the comment to which I replied suggested that they 'were' (past-tense) freinds. David Gilmour fell out with Roger Waters and Pauil McCartney fell out with John Lennon - the two most notorious bust-ups in the history of rock music..
hahahha. Nobody'll hate u, man. It really doesn't matter if u think that the Beatles got their songs from the americans. If they did it...well, they improved the genre, the form also. They got places where americans -or anybody else for that matter- would only dream about. They had an impact on the world the way nobody else did. You can't hardly say that for any american band.
I agree. The Beatles take american influence and made a very much better sound, that still today non and never an american band will achieve. No other band ever will reach to The Beatles i think. John,Paul,George and Ringo is a unique think, that only happens one time in the world.
I agree, there never will be another band like the Beatles. But NOT because they don't exist (they do, even in America) but because you'll never get to hear them. All Radio is owned by a few major international companies (like Clearchannel,Viacom etc... ) and they control what you are allowed to hear. Watch a film called "Before The Music Dies" it's very enlightening. P.S. MTV SUCKS!
Nope. You're missing the point of the Beatles. Although the music was/is awesome there is so much more to their story than just the music. They changed the ENTIRE world, not just the musical world. There are countless bands today who are as talented as they were, I agree. But back then they changed how we talked, how we dressed, and how we looked at ourselves. They were a CULTURAL phenomenon as much as a musical phenomenon. THAT is why there will never be another Beatles.
Actually, If you'll read the prior comments that I was responding to you'll find that the discussion was of the music and not their cultural impact. Now, don't get me wrong, The Beatles are my #1 favorite band and their impact on culture can't be denied, but primarily WESTERN culture. To say that they changed the ENTIRE world is to have a pretty small concept of the world.
Nope, again. They DID change the entire world. They did things that politicians and dictators couldn't. They thumbed their noses at the class elitists and shook their shaggy hair at 'em all ("...rattle yer jewelery"). It was way more than western culture though. Riots in the Phillipines. The Budokan in Japan. The Maharishi and Eastern religion. The Sitar for crying out loud. 4 lads from a dirty little seaport city. They broke the walls around us down. They changed us all from the outside in.
Class Elitists in ENGLAND, Which is not the entire world, despite Britain's best efforts. The riots in the Philippines and Japan were AGAINST the Beatles, and in their own words had more to do with the political climate in those countries at the time than with the Beatles or their music. And I'm pretty sure that Eastern religion was being practiced for several thousand years before the Beatles discovered it, the sitar too. So again, you are talking about their influence on WESTERN culture.
They changed how we talked? Who says "gear" anymore? Fashion? That image was created by their manager, not them. They didn't start writing lyrics that changed how we look at ourselves until Dylan (their American Idol) criticized Lennon for writing fluff. And even George said that "Beatlemania" (the cultural phenomenon) was created by the press, the record company and anyone else who thought they could make a buck off the Beatles. In the end, only the music matters. And THAT'S the point. Gear.
The Americans can never acknowledge that anyone can do anything better than they can. The Beatles set the standard for the rest of the world and it has never been bettered. When the Beatles visited the USA the people went wild over them as they had never heard anything like it.
Not ALL Americans think like that, James but I agree with the rest of your statement 100%! You're right - it has never been bettered and it never will be!!!
I think all musicians tend to copy their influences to a point. I get told all the time my songs sound too much like McCartney's and John Denver but I can't help it, they are who shape my music style. Now if I were a great musician (and I am NOT) I would blend my influences and come up with my own style. Now Paul McCartney is a great musician and for sure has his own style. I think he will be remembered for a great influence to other bands and composers.
They did-the Beatles-great covers of early rock'n'roll songs. In Liverpool, Hamburg. Listen to "Live at the Star club". Indeed man, they were the best!

isabellaph, 1999 is when Run Devil Run came out, which is mostly 1950s covers. That era of music was always the favorite of all of the Beatles.
I think it was a comfort for Paul to go back to his first musical love to pull himself out of mourning for Linda, who died the year before this show.
melinOH 3 years ago
He seems to sing Elvis-like style songs...their inspiration not the BEATLES' brand.

cuz really, all The Beatles did, initially, was copy american styles.
the melodies all came from the cover songs they did, the chord progressions. mostly all american ...
ringo has even said this, that tow rite their songs, they just rearranged existing chord progressions.
even though i like them.
hate me now.

raw rock n roll exists only in america. the beatles are amazing, but raw rock and roll comes from a very distinct place with a history.
nothing else has the same feel to it, no matter what. irish bar music is not the same outside of ireland.
i prefer ricky nelson's version of lonesome town.
BUT beatles are the exception to every rule.
however i miss john. he had the edge.
