  • Aw he's so cuute here! =D

  • this is Yasmin a preemie too =)

    her story

    /watch?v=e0pUCqOm0i8

  • why is the baby in a plasttic in a plastic bag..

  • @bizzyg12 A premature's skin is very sensitive and also 40% of the oxgen in our bodies is absorbed through the skin so he bag has some of that in it.

  • I had a stillborn son 11 yrs ago I was 28 weeks also I almost died I miss my son a lot he went to heaven July 4th 1999 it hurts so bad that he not here with me although been blessed with 2 girls and 1 boy he weighed 2 lbs 15.8 oz an 13 inches long may he rest in peace

  • Thats amazin it must if been such a differcult time for you but itss so amazin what doctors can do and how strong they are ! x bet he is a lovely little boy now .

  • awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww his cry is so adorable .... glad he's okay :) Xxx

  • awww

  • Why are the docters covering him or her with a plastic bag ?

  • @121itzel to keep him warm :)

  • wow very strong baby, strong cry etc God Bless Him! Seems 2 me like more premmies are boys, am I correct?

  • I hope hes still alive...

I was crying over this because it brings back memories of my dead premature sister...

  • was the plastic sheet there to help him keep in his body heat?

i didn't think they could survive out of the womb for very long being that tiny. hope everything's alright now.

  • such a cute cry

  • Aaaaaaaaaaaaa. Soooooo cute, wonder if he/she survived. I wonder how the perents feel to

  • Even that Baby, God has a plan for the future. I pray for the parents and the baby

  • SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO CUUUUTEEE! omg it's SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SMALLL!!!

  • i had my daughter at 28 weeks as well by c-section. she was 2 pounds, 10 ounces.

  • Why did they have a bag on him? Was it to help warm him up? I just have never seen that before. I'm glad he is doing well!!!

  • @alfalfasprouts14 yea it was to keep some of the body heat on him, since he is a premie, his body cant really make enough body heat to keep him alive, so they use the bag.

  • aww im glad he's ok. So precious. ♥

  • So how is little Cooper today? We'd all like to know after seeing him so tiny and so helpless. He should be around 2 now...what is his personality like? I bet he is something else!

  • thanks for your comments & questions. Cooper is a very lively 2.5year old who knows his own mind , is very assertive but still loves a good cuddle with mum. he manages to win over most people with his large smiles & battering his long lashes. i am in the process of putting together some more recent snaps & video so hope to have something up within the month. Nic

  • thanks for your questions & comments. cooper is happy & lively 2.5yr old who knows his mind & is very articulate for his age. he is quite assertive & is very personable, winning over many with his big smiles. the fight seen inithese early videos has definately not been lost either if he does not like something. i can hardly chastise him for a quality that ultimately helped him grow strong early on. I'm trying to get some more recent stuff posted within the next month. thx. Nic

  • Google "liquid ventilation" It can save many preemies. It is still being experimented with and has already been used to save a little girl who was born 4 months early 14 years ago. Her name Adrianna Mancini and she was featured in readers digest. The march of dimes refuses to help spread the word or fund.

Respirators and month long hospital stays bring in to much money for them to want this available.

    Help spread the word!

  • i hope evrythin went good

  • it did! he's great 2.5 yr old & loving life

  • @skaternic007 soo cute

  • These kind of nurses are so amazing, they brought my niece back to life from a horrible delivery!

  • did he make it

  • aw the little crys are so cute :) hope all is well

  • oh no is it alive?

  • did the baby make it in the vid? why was she wrapped in plastic.

  • The plastic bag is used in premature infants because they are not able to properly regulate their body heat; not enough brown fat to break down. The plastic doesn't allow the heat to escape.

  • cool I was just about to ask what that was for!

  • that first little cry made my heart skip a beat. I remember when my premmy baby was born (3lbs) its amazing what they do!

  • I'm 28 weeks 3 days pregnant today and it's so amazing to see the advances of medical technology and their ability to help sustain life for something so small and fragile. It's really a blessing.

  • good luck - don't worry this is not the norm. here's hoping you have a full term healthy little one. but if you did need assitance earlier it is reassuring to hear so many good news stories about pre term bub's - thx

  • WOW!! That is so amazing....even my husband, who was in the room couldn't see him. He was surrounded by dr's and nurses....tho he did here one say "I CANT INTRABATE THIS BABY"....glad i didn't here that!!! He was born 1lb 4oz (565g) at 29w 3d, he is now 19mths C/A. Thankyou for sharing this experience that so many mothers miss out on :) Hope Cooper is doing well!

  • I'm glad i never heard those words - not somenthing a parent ever want's to hear! and thankyou so much for your comment I'm glad that the video helps to fill in the gaps - it certainly did for me - i watched this video before i even saw my baby in the flesh. Cooper is doing fantastically. He's hit all his requiremnts for his 18mth assesment by the local maternal health nurse who insisted on doing it even though he is only 16.5mth C/A!! (just a bit proud)

  • i was a 22 weeker, & weighed 1 lb 4 oz,

  • The plastic stops their skin getting broken whilst the doctors are working, helps them stop losing precious heat and moisture in those first few minutes, helps keep whatever vernix there is there on their skin.

My baby was born at 27+4 weighing 1lb 9oz/ 700g. All of these videos are so powerful for me. I really should upload some of Talia when she was tiny and concentrating so much just on breathing.

  • 700g. gosh so tiny. Talia must have had a lot of fight in her. I hope she is doing well. it would be great to see your video's if you post them. I've found watching these very theraputic - as we mums go through a LOT of emotion that we need time & the opportunity to work through. Watching, posting & chating seemes to help me when i'm feeling a little overwhelmed by it all. Good luck with your baby girl.

    Nic

  • My Talia's been home coming up to 3 months now, and it is a highly emotional and fragile time. The tiniest things could send me crashing. There are a lot of good support sites out there. My favourite is lil Aussie Prems (google it if you're interested)

  • had a 24 weeker myself and i didnt manage to see those begining bits so thanks for posting it glad ur babys ok we have a beautiful daughter who was 1lb 4 oz

  • gosh so tiny. i hope your she is also doing well. i realise that at 24 weeks the outcomes can be so varied. & to you too mum, its a difficult journey, hope you are doing well. this video i thought was just so amazing & raw i just had to share it. I'm glad that its of use to other premmie mums such as yourself. i think doing this (posting / watching vids)is part of me 'still' working through the hugh emotion of the event & its lead up. Thanks for your comments

    regards Nic

  • hi she is also doing really well she is now 16lb and is amazing im going to post a little clip of bailey so take a look she is now coming off her oxygen and the only problem she had was she is alittle hard of hearing but we dont mind as she is the most wonderful little girl xxxx

  • I am still in awe at at how good the outcomes are at early weeks gestation - arn't the medical staff fantastic. Bailey being a little hard of hearing will present you all with a few challenges but as you said you "don't mind" because you got to keep her. how old is she now?

  • Cooper is doing very well thankyou. He just turned one last week and is a healthy boy, he's avg in weight, heigth etc for the 9mth old that he should be.

The plastic keeps the bubs temp up. They are born without any body fat. The plastic is more effective than using a blanket & allows the medical staff to see his colour(ie oxygen levels). later in the Humidi crib , a bubble wrap blanket was occassionally used to maintain his temperature. Amazing Stuff.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

    Nic

  • How's he doing? God bless him. Just another question. What is that plastic on him for? Good luck with the baby.
