i saw the misfits in 96 at Memory Lane in Baltimore... wasn't w/Danzig, of course... but the crowd sang EVERY WORD and Jerry and Doyle both received everyone who wanted autographs and pictures.... and the beer was cheep... fuckin awesome night

One of the reasons why some people term these sessions "better" is due to the rawness, use of ambient noise, feedback etc. that were just too different for their time. Note that I'm not using the word "better" because everyone's taste, even those who like the Misfits, is again DIFFERENT. Some people like the live stuff and this has more of a live feel, a little more speed which some people like, and other differences...to each their own.

Let's just all be glad these tracks have been uncovered.

@shootbinary Actually, the reason I like the earlier versions of the Walk Among Us tracks, especially the original Plan 9 recordings, are because I prefer the slower tempo. The official release is much faster, kind of a drag, to me.

if you want "devils whorehouse" which is missing from the above you need to check out a bootleg album called "Ghouls Nights Out". Side B is a practice demo recorded in 'The PIt', the A side starts with the version of Astro Zombies which is here, complete with the false start and ends with I turned into a Martian, a different version from what is on here, sounds much faster than any previous studio recording.

@bobbyjayfatlad Actually Side A contains the Pit Sessions and not the other way round. The version of I Turned Into A Martian you're talking about was recorded at Master Sound Productions and was later released on the 3rd disc of the Misfits Box Set.

oh man this session has the 3 best versions of the songs that are in it. 20 eyes, i turned into a martian, astro zombies sound so fucking amazing. the drumming in astro zombies kicks in at around 4:02 and then again near the end, it gives the song some serious push, I love it. Thanks honk you are a fucking beast!!!! Misfits are like part of my everyday routine and life.

Holy crap...I've been looking for this set of demos for years!!! I had this in high school...as in, late 80s...!! The tape player in my bug ate this, and I could never find it again afterwards.

I recognize the version of 20 Eyes...if you listen to it through crappy speakers, it sounds almost like horns are in it...

omfg listen to 3:43, at around 4:02 it kicks into the song "WITH JUST A TOUCH.."

listen to how the drumming kicks up and the guitar and bass come in with perfect rhythm, it's so beautiful. Danzig makes my want to strangle myself sometimes when I try and imagine how someone could write such beautiful music and still keep it so brash and brutal.

this was a bootleg called "a walk among the dead"but the speed was changed and even on nike the speed is still to fast.......this is much better then the 7inch still....i collected many misfits and related records as a hobby when i was younger......most of this stuff has passed through my hands at sometime.....

My brother does and yes they are in a safe place with all my other early 80s hardcore punk records. I once had the beware EP. It was lent to a freind in the 80s never saw it or him again, but I do still have a 7inch bootleg from the 90s.

This is outstanding in so many ways. Seems like Glenn was just more "into" some of these tracks than the versions we got on "Walk Among Us." This is sort of a mix of that and the feel, sound, and general production of of "Legacy of Brutality." Particularly that version of "Astro Zombies," which I think is the best 'fits song ever.
