  • What a very ironic commercial. Christians believe wine is the blood of god and cherish it but during the 1920s, christians thought all alcohol was the demons drink.

  • The Church: restricting everybody's freedoms, whether they like it or not.

  • illegal drugs and how they got that way

  • Anyone know the name of the full video that this clip is from??

  • Huh. In class, we are taught that prohibition was illegalized with the help of WOMEN. not the church.

  • Down with Demon RUM. Up With Sinful FUN!

  • lol it kinda actually is

  • Look up "reefer madness" !!!!

It's another bunch of lies the government told us

  • Is this america today or 90 years ago?

  • I like how the 7 year-old is holding a sign basically saying you won't get a smooch if you like the hooch.

It being the 20's and all, I guess she could have had a number of other 4th grade potential suitors who got hammered a little too often. Also, I can see her mom thinking "Well, no gentleman is deflowing my daughter today unless they swear off the booze!"

  • from a tv show not a commercial

  • Okay. You made me a believer. I listened to what this man had to say. You are right. I need a drink?

  • why all anti-drug propaganda videos are such lies and bullshit?!

its not better to tell the people finally the truth?

that marijuana is much more harmless than alcohol?

or that more than 95 percent of all marijuana users never touch hard drugs?

or thats not possible to OD and die cause of marijuana?

i know why this truths hurts the conservatives and they dont want that the people know them!

we life in 2011 and thanks internet this bullshit propaganda will dont have much success anymore!

  • A 1920s commercial? To be viewed in what format?

I wonder where this is actually from.

  • @smellincoffee They probably showed it in a theatre before a movie started or something.

  • automobiles kill millions, so why aren't they illegal ?

  • I resent this man's wording. My hair is not slick

    ~Johnny Witchburner

  • that dude is the devil himself.

  • Isn't that the guy from reefer madness? Damn zionists!

  • hahahahaha

  • Kinda reminds me of Hitler's historical speech.

  • Heh, money talks and bullshit walks. We all know how that ended. Thnx for the ul.

  • I will be proud Christian if America comes back to God and bans alcohol as well as abortions, gays, other filth.Alcohol kills!

  • @RobotShoppingCenter is true alcohol kills brain cells and makes people unbelievably stupid and hateful - so pass me your bottle of bourbon when you've finished with it will you love? kisses

  • @thegayprovocateur Homosex kills more brainsells than alcohol. Both enemies!

  • @RobotShoppingCenter. Is it hard being perfect?

  • @thegayprovocateur

if they want to kill their own brain cells, let them kill their own brain cells.

You should not and will not have dominion on someone elses life.

  • Why do I get the feeling this guy WAS one of the "slick-haired buzzards" he was referring to?

I mean come on, "...Who prey on the fowl of American womanhood."

You've got to be a perv to come up with some shit like that.

  • That was a re-enactment produced either in the 50s or the 60s of a 20s commercial (clarification)

  • I drink, I smoke weed, I take hallucenogenics, and pop the occassional amphetamine. I graduated from university 6 months ago, after spending 4 years studying Criminology. Guess what? I now travel 4 hours a day, every day, to clean floors for 2 hour shifts. Anything to do with the drink or drugs? No - it's because the job market is fucked. But what gets the blame? Drink and drugs. Every fucking time.

  • SHOTS! SHOTS! SHO SHO SHO SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! SHOTS! EVERYBODY!!!!!!!!

  • well its true that weed is protective for the brain and all of u just like to get wasted if u support alcohol. maybe a lil bit a day helps with your bone density and some other things but it isnt neuroprotective like weed. match all of the herbs known to man and we dont need drugs and artificial shit

  • ye son prop 19

  • Drinking beer leads to misery and self loathing. Last time I got drunk, I fucked the girl of my dreams. It was awful.

  • well a lot of substances we know we kill us. however these r mostly unpopular things. we should be able to consume whatever we want regardless but we know how bad alcohol is at high dosages. basically if ur a dumb drunk stop drinking. and u can smoke as much weed as u want. youll just smoke urself sober.

  • haha. Christians.

  • Any argument against prohibition based on anything other than "My body, not yours" is doomed to failure.

All you're going to do is make the state the ultimate judge on what is healthy, then ram it down our throats!

  • @sanarkhos fuck off, prohibition increases violences and puts money in criminals pockets, is that doomed to failure? no because its completely true

  • Rum is nasty anyway. Give me some of that good ol' Demon Whiskey!

  • Ethanol is natural, from fermentaion. It can be drank, or burned as biofeul. You let any sugary water sit with heat you get alcohol.

  • @mangrum876

I realize that picture houses did show newsreels and such back in the '20's. This is clearly a video of something off of the History network, though. This footage isn't what we would consider a 'commercial', however.

  • Seriously people need to learn to stop banning substances and start banning the bad effects they may or maynot cause. it's gotten out of control , local governments close public parks at night to prevent theft. but I like to go to the park at night to watch the stars on a blanket with my lady. the same goes with alochol weed wisky and other "drugs" some can use them just fine. others can't .. but we shouldnt punish those who can keep their composure, stay peaceful and hold a steady job.

  • Televisions were not commercially available until the late 1930's...so how is this a commercial from the 20's?

  • @Razorbat777 they watched them in movie thaters back then, alog with movies and newseels from around the world.

  • Lmao. DEMON RUM!

  • @legaleyesgreen

Tobacco is not what kills the 400,000 a year. Sure, it kills some but it's all the chemicals in "cigarettes" that kill most of the 400,000. "It just grows like that" is a terrible defense for Marijuana. A lot of things "grow like that" and still kill. Decriminalization for Marijuana is the way to go, but @sonofscars, get a better defense.

  • and cocaine and opium kill because of the processes they go thrrough. better to be sober than anything and drink tea n meditate. get high that way. the coca leaf can be chewed of course for the effects. it doesnt need to be put through a powder process.

  • @photolitherland,move to New Hampshire. The state government RUNS the liquor stores and all the alcoholics are now addicted to much harder drugs.Yeah,it's the fuckin' promised land, you asshole. ; )

  • Respect the concept of womanhood??? Haha women had finally just begun to vote....what a two faced, hypocritical system

  • Another false hood. Imagen, if a U.S.A. prohibited all that was bad for you. Choice would be eliminated. Freedom would be eliminated. That is what the left has before them. In their attempt at control. Seat belt laws, cigarette laws, trans-fat laws. The loss of individual choice, converted to a legislative law. Freedom lost. Socialism empowered. The left buying their vote, through the slavery of individualism. The left would love such a thing. No surprise to me." Yes we can, Yes we can."

  • if only some terrorsts would spike the worlds water supply with LSD

  • Fucking America...we still have silly drinking laws today......

  • How about we put prohibition on religion? You know, make it illegal for people to teach religion to their children until their children are 18 years of age or older. The U.S. wasn't founded on religion, it's laws aren't based on religion, and there are no laws that make it mandatory for you to study religion. There isn't any evidence to support the claims of religion as the only way it can survive is if you believe in it.

  • Surely imposing a system of stories that requires you to believe them, on your kids, must be some form of 'interfereing with a minor'.

  • @berner The same must apply to atheism. If I can't say "Jesus loves you", you can't say "there is no purpose". If I can't teach "There is a God", you can't teach "There is no God". If I can't teach "We were made of the dust of the earth", you can't teach "We came from animals". If I can't teach the theories of servitude to mankind and selflessness, you can't teach the theories of evolution of mankind and humanism. And BTW- my ancestors were Pilgrims on the Mayflower seeking freedom to believe.

  • What significance does religion have in today's society that gives it privilege to be exempt from not existing? As for atheism, it's not a teaching of anything. Atheism is a lack of belief in any higher power. Just like me, you were born without any knowledge of any diety or anything. Atheism has nothing to do with evolution, but if you want to go that route, then the teaching of a scientific theory has more significance in the school system than the diary of a madman, aka: The bible

  • @berner Let's see... if you deny me the right to believe what I want, then what should stop me from wanting to deny you the right to believe in a system that will, according to social evolution, prove to be false in time? Tell me, have you visited the dimension Heaven resides in, and can prove that God is not there? After all, quantum physics says, according to string theory, at least 11 dimensions, only 4 of which man can perceive. My faith is in God's love. Where's your faith, and your love?

  • even if its all derived from plants...marijuana hasnt killed a soul and alcohol has been deadly and caused many accidental deaths. after doing many substances besides the really man made ones like heroin and most prescriptions...the plants such as cannabis kratom morning glory seeds woodrose seeds etc., mushrooms ergot fungus and so on...the bad stuff are the pharmeceutical drugs and alcohol at high levels. we should have the right to do whatever we pelase though. our bodies. our choice.

  • So this is why im saying its safer then alcohol.

If you abuse a extreme amount of alcohol, your 100% going to die a painful death very early.

If you abuse a extreme amount MDMA you can still live a long life your just going to have some emotions messed with, and your going to get Parkinson's earlier then the average person.

So it all comes down to moderation, and how you use it to decide if its damaging or harmless.

  • Comment removed

  • i think that priest should have had the ulter boy off his dick for a while

  • alcohol is more dangerous dann mdma (ecstasy) and lsd and many other drugs, but too many people are too stupid and won't accept it just because they're illegal... @ the numberguy, do you even know the difference between ecstasy and cocaine i bet not x) and you probably think that lsd is addictive

  • I don't care how dangerous a drug is, making them illegal is pointless. And I mean ANY drug. If someone is high and then commits a real crime, then punish him for that. But not someone using drugs in the privacy of their own home.

  • @jhillst Idiot

  • LOL @ the sign the little girl is holding.. so i guess if your sober YOU can touch her....

  • It is the most dangerous drug, by virtue of numbers of deaths per year. Drinking is for losers, if it were invented today, it wouldn't be legal.

  • No, Actually Ecstacy is the most dangerous drug,, And quit your bitching, Alcohol is legal, Deal with it..... Now I'm gonna go to the bar for a few drinks.

  • MDMA is is not the most dangerous drug by a long shot.

Alcohol is actually more dangerous then MDMA.

Believe it or not i really don't give a shit.

  • MDMA is worse for your health, plus you do not know what you are getting when you buy it, it could be made of of all sorts of different chemicles, how do you even know you are getting pure MDMA?

  • @LavaMountainKat

You never know your buying pure MDMA unless you get a test kit and test it.

But thats beside the point im talking about the drug MDMA not what people cut it with.

Do some research, I know what im talking about MDMA is safer then alcohol. Of course theirs variables in this argument of how the drugs would be used, and how much would be used.

But it is safer to take enough MDMA to get "high" everyday

Then it is to take enough alcohol to get "drunk" everyday.

  • do you not realize that your precious ecstasy burns holes in your brain? and just because one substance is less dangerous than another does not excuse the abuse of a "safer" drug.

  • Thats a common myth, but no it doesn't burn holes in your brain.

The only negative health effect of taking MDMA is a slight depletion of serotonin.

Which doesnt matter, unless your using it alot nearly everyday.

I never said you should abuse any drug, all I said was that its safer then alcohol.

  • slight? hardly. it shuts down you brains production of serotonin, so you literally cannot be happy without it

  • It doesnt shut down production.

If you start to abuse it, your sertonin is going to get fucked around with for sure.

And it isnt that serious to your health, but it will temporarily change your emotions depending on the individual.

People can be perfectly happy and fine coming down from MDMA,

Then theirs some people that might want to kill themselves.

But Its all in the INDIVIDUAL person's mentality.

  • If you are using it regularly it will shut down both dopamine and seratonin productions. This is because MDMA is a dopamine and seratonin agonist, meaning it mimics these neurotransmitters in your brain, making your body think there is enough of them and shutting down its natural production.

Low serotanin will pretty certainly lead to depression and low dopamine will lead to parkinsons like symptoms, as will the loss of nigral cells i mentioned earlier.

But yea, its totally safe lol

  • Again I never said there wasn't risks, I just said it was safer then alcohol.

And you make it sound like the effects on serotonin and nigral cells are permanent.

Your serotonin producing neurons and nigral cells, regenerate shortly after you use the drug.

All these effects on the brain arnt significant or damaging, unless your abusing it, like trying to stay high for days.

  • serotonin production will eventually come back, but brain cells do not regenerate

  • Are you trying to insinuate that it kills brain cells?

  • nigral cells are brain cells at the top of your brain stem. They don't regerate. You lose a few thousand a year naturally, and this is sped up by ecstacy and meth (both contain MDMA). Damage to these cells is a cause of parkinsons disease

  • Did you really just say meth contains MDMA?

    Fucking retard.....

You are born with 400,000 nigral cells.

You lose around 2,400 nigral cells a year.

Once you go below 240,000 you technically then have Parkinson's.

So if you live to be 100, you'll be below 240,000 anyway.

No doubt it does gradually contribute to loss of nigral cells, but it depends on usage.

You have to be abusing it ALOT to have a significant amount of nigral cells lost.

  • @thedirtynasty

It doesn't burn literal holes in your brain, but its hardly a myth either. We say it burns holes in your brain, because if you're looking at an EEG of brain activity on ecstacy users there are holes where there is no activity. This is because MDMA destroys nigral cells at the top of your brainstem.

I always laugh at the propaghanda druggie losers will come up with to justify ingesting poison.

    xstraightxedgex

  • Actually the reason it shows holes in your brain on a cat scan is because, its showing blood flow activity and where there is slowed blood flow it looks like "holes".

Slowed blood flow can be caused by something a simple as staying up all night.

If you did a cat scan on someone who is tired there brain would look like it has "holes" in it.

"I always laugh at the propaghanda druggie losers will come up with to justify ingesting poison."

And your a indoctrinated, close minded follower.

  • @PureBot Drinking in moderation is fine. Red wine has health benefits. Guinness beer does too. Drink with a meal, just don't over do it. Saying drinking is for losers is stupid. Just don't get drunk.

  • @peacemaker083

Actually, the idea of a little bit of red wine being good for you has recently been proven wrong. There are no adverse effects with drinking a glass of red at dinner, but there aren't any benefits. I've never heard of the Guinness beer one though.

  • @peacemaker083 everything in moderation is healthy.

  • "most believed that the most dangerous drug in America was alcohol"..... tsk tsk man were they wrong.

  • Down the hatch!

  • Goodness, no matter when, we have and will always have people thinking they know what is best, and getting into everyone else's business instead of working on what NEEDS to be solved.

  • The irony is - I'm drunk

  • @PufferBluntman Who's round is it?

  • @PufferBluntman

    LOL ME TO!

  • alcohol isnt natural. they make it with ethanol. which is in gasoline in another form.

    marijuana however.

a fricken plant growing in soil.

i think this conversation is over.

  • @sonofscars Alcohol has nothing to do with gasoline, and is certainly not made from it. Alcohol is made with yeast (a natural fungi) and sugar (from a fricken plant growing in soil of your choice).

Alcohol has been made and consumed by humans way before anyone had ever heard of gasoline. In minor amounts, alcohol is even produced in our bodies. So there is a trace amount of alcohol in our blood even if we don't drink.

  • @sonofscars Ou and I forgot, alcohol is certainly not made with ethanol either, ethanol is an alcohol, and what we usually mean in every day speech by alcohol is ethanol. What you're saying is that oranges are made of fruits.

  • @sonofscars

Alcohol is completely natural! My god, man, read a book some time! Ethyl Alcohol (aka ethanol) is produced by anaerobic respiration of microbes. Basically it's a byproduct of yeasts or bacteria acting on carbohydrates.

I have nothing against marajuana as such and I'd be happy to see it legalized, but don't use the mind-numbingly stupid argument "It's natural" and "from a plant" as a reason why it's harmless. Strychnine and ricin are natural and come from plants!

  • @sonofscars They don't make it with ethanol.

    They starch and other bacterias.

The process produces ethanol, which is alcohol.

  • @sonofscars Ethanol isn't "gasoline in another form". Gas is made from petroleum, a mineral found in the earth. Ethanol is a form of alcohol derived from grain-based fermenting (ie corn). Just 'cuz both are fuels for cars doesn't mean they're the same thing. If you let some corn sit out in a puddle of water for a week, you do naturally get ethanol. Saying "ethanol = gas" is the same as "nylon = cotton". Sure, both are used as clothing, but nylon is not a plant, nor is gas based on alcohol.

  • @sonofscars they dont make alcohol with ethanol, pure aocohol is called ethanol. If you make wine for example, at 12% alocohol, you dont have ethanol, unless you remove 100% of the alcohol without any other liquid. Ethanol is 100% pure alcohol, which you dont drink, cause its pure posion and you would die

  • @sonofscars tobacco- a fricken plant growing in soil, kills 400,000 a year

    cocaine- comes from a plant

    opium- comes from a plant

pot is not safe because it is a plant! its safe because it is pot!

  • @sonofscars Alcohol is Natural comes from rot from all kinds of fruits and it can be made in unnatural ways too in a process too mass produce it like with ethanol. Wine is natural Alcohol and Moonshrine is not its made with ethanol too produce the really strong 190 proff.

  • @sonofscars

    you're high, aren't you

ethanol IS alcohol and occurs naturally when fruit and vegetables ferment (though I do find you amusing so please continue)

  • @sonofscars

You're full of shit, as is anyone who upvoted your moronic comment.

Ethanol isn't gasoline (petroleum) which comes from rock oil. Ethanol is a natural byproduct of fermentation, which happens whenever fruit or cellulose goes uneaten. You can get drunk off old fruit.

Also, there are many things that are "natural" that will kill you quicker than any processed drug. Castor beans, bad shrooms, rosary peas, flowers like monkshood, water hemlock, or angel's trumpet. Even oleander!

  • @sanarkhos And the quickest killer is Bieber.

  • @sanarkhos not trolling because of a year old post but don't forget about malcolm x and nutmeg. i don't think he died from it but he did mention it in prison. it's addictive and gets you high in large doses. a large dose would be considered the amount of a matchbox.

  • @sonofscars ethanol is natural is the waste of some bacterias.

    i drink bacteria shit.

and is easy to make in home so if even if they make illegal a can made wine or beer in my home.

  • @sonofscars Lol you might want to go back to school. Gasoline lol. Might want to start with preschool.

  • @sonofscars i think your over. depresso

  • @sonofscars lol ethonol, maybe certain alcohols, but wine is made with fruit, let to sit and to rot, there is no gasoline or anything in wine

  • @CanadianDipper28 um, wine most certainly has ethanol in it, just like every "alcoholic" beverage (ethanol is a type of alcohol.) The sugars from the grapes naturally produce it as a result of the fermentation process. Ethanol is simply 'drinkable' alcohol that comes about as the result of fermenting sugars (in beer, the sugars come from grain, in sake they come from rice, in rum they come from molasses etc) Calling it "gasoline in another form" is entirely misleading.

  • @IAmWanderingAengus yeah about calling it gasoline i always thought ethanol was a type of gasoline, thats why i was quistioning your comment but nevermind bout it now ahah thanks

  • @CanadianDipper28 Obviously you have never taken "O"chem

  • @sonofscars alcohol does occur in nature through fermentation all the time. and alcohol is not gasoline.. ethanol is an additive commonly put into gasoline. I agree marijuana should be legal, just get your facts straight or else you just sound like a retard stoner.

  • @sonofscars i totally support weed. but the whole its a plant sp its safe argument is very irrevelant. poison ivy is a natrual plant, but im pretty sure it wouldnt be good to roll a j of poison ivy

  • @mexican555 it might not be the smartest thing to do to roll up some posion ivy and smoke it but hey it isnt illegal

  • @mexican555 it might not be the smartest thing to do to roll up some posion ivy and smoke it but hey it isnt illegal

  • I bet the gangsters just loved these stupid people that made them all rich. Now I want a drink in a honky tonk

  • Typical propaganda. Now it is the same with marijuana ...

  • lmao. I'm so glad i'm an American. I'm in Europe as an American Soldier and this place is pathetic. They all rip from American culture and then they bash Americans. Oh, the women are about as slutty as i've ever seen. I'd take an average American girl over some pointy nosed German skank any day.

  • TIME FOR A DRINK

  • That was whee! And that rhymes with P and that stands for POOL!

  • Ya well prohibition would breed a new crime environment that would be supplied and run by gangs. Undoubtably bad liqour poisnings, murder etc would result .The US war on drugs didnt work and neither will prohibition.

education is the answer (but hey I'm canadian wtf do i know eh lol)

  • Alcohol is dangerous. It should be limited to the greatest extent possible. During Prohibition consumption went down not up. Many good things came about because of it. When Prohibition started consuption was at a high rate after 1933 the rate was much lower, but the rate started to go up again. Now we have Vodka ads on the TV all the time. This film is a joke. It is part of some other Hollywood film. Hollywood has never been even half way fair to the movement. I can live without it.

  • Yes, we need the government to control every aspect of our lives. Lifting heavy boxes is dangerous if you don't do it right. Eating overly processed foods, too much fat, too much salt, or too much cholesterol is dangerous. Driving is dangerous. I think we had better make it illegal to go outside! Why should we be fair to a movement of brainwashed idiots? Go stone someone to death for not properly sacrificing their goat (Leviticus).

  • Thanks for your comment. I agree with you that the govenment should not control every aspent of our lives. I want freedom for you and me and the small child from the terror of a drunk driver, the under the influence mugger, the parent out of control beating his/her child. I see you are a student of the Bible. I believe in the One who brings true freedom who said "Go and sin no more" I can live in freedom without it.

  • I'm glad that you have made a choice that suits your life appropriately. But if you want to talk scriptures, even Jesus partook of wine. I agree that alcohol can be a part of the many evils that you speak of, but you should also look at the number of crimes and illegal activities that occur without one bit of influence of alchol before you blame every evil act on it. It is not a sin to consume alcohol, it is, however, a sin to "be in drunkeness". Moderation of anything in our lives is a must.

  • The prohibition created organized crime and cartels over the stuff, exactly what is happening now with pot and other drugs. Prohibition has never been about protecting society anyways.

  • "You see how you are brainwashed stupid Americans and then contaminate the world with your lies"

Yet here you are sitting on a computer that probably uses Windows, an operating system based in the United States, using the Internet, a technology developed by American Universities. Where are you from, Europe? Seems to me we bailed your asses out of 2 world wars, cheeky little bastard. So we've made a few mistakes in the past, like you haven't?

  • you are the man

  • DOWN WITH DEMON RUM!

...and how'd that work out for them? :-)

  • Free will to enjoy or abuse!! we all posess the choice to choose, whether we win or whether we lose it is up 2 each of us.......so don't be confused!!!

  • you can't forbid anything to nobody, if somebody is having a problem and drinks, it's not alcohol, it's him, you're not a retard not to know what's bad and become a junky or alcoholic, than the problem is you not those things

  • I'm one of the slick haired vultures who wants to entice them that he was talking about Yeah!!

  • I like what WC Fields said during Prohibition: "Down with rum! Ever since the beginning of time there has been a drinking problem. Quite a problem, especially now -- so scarce . . ."

  • dont drink and drive, smoke and fly

  • Don't use any drugs and drive. Be responsible.

  • Why are some people on here insisting we illegalize alcohol? Hasn't america seen enough of the harmful effects of drug/alcohol prohibition?

  • Yes illegalize alcohol!! Alcohol has destroyed many families, we can't support that!!

  • There was a reason why the amendment was repealled.

  • The Mafia and speakeasies come to mind. Prohibition simple causes more problems than it solves. Besides, abusive parents are abusive parents, alcohol or not, it's their own damn problem.

  • down with alcohol! demon rum! sinners go to hell!

  • after watching this i think ill go grab a beer and a smoke

  • Hmm... that's a good idea.

Who want to join my mafia? Together we will spread trans fat evil throughout the world.

    ok lolz over.

  • I'm going to teach you all an Australian word, Wowser: wow-ser. eg. that puritan wanker

  • Hilarious!

  • They outlawed alcohol. In came the mafia and Al Capone. Congress learned its lesson and legalized it.

They outlaw marijuana and other drugs. In comes gangs and drug smugglers. Hmmm...

  • funny thing though, prohibition was part of the progressive movement. today the progressives are outlawing trans fats, fois gras, trying to ban cigarettes.

does this mean someday organized crime will be my only supply of bloated up duck livers and tasty potato chips.

keep the drugs outlawed, just shoot the dealers.

drugs cant be legalized the CIA still needs the income.

  • i say marijuana needs to be legalized...it's waaay less dangerous than alcohol+ has the same crowd, if not larger amount of people who are rebelling against marijuana laws than did for the alcohol prohibition.

  • alcohol is one of the worst drugs out there.. it should be illeagal

  • it still is the most dangerous drug in america. i can only imagine if it was illegal again....

  • The drinking age needs to be lowered to 18. If you can fight and die for you country at 18 you can handle a beer.

  • it mostly has to do with drunk driving. it was lowered during the Vietnam War (late 60's early 70's) then raised again.

  • are you talking about BAC levels for legal operation of a motor vehicle? President Clinton pushed for congress to lower BAC and signed it into law in the mid -90's. It is now 0.08% through out the US, and for holders of a CDL it is 0.04% at all times (even when not driving a big rig or bus). If you are speaking of the drinking age, yes, it was lowered in the early 70's to 18 and raised again in the 80's under Reagan back to 21.

  • I agree, it would take power away from drug dealers, think about it, who would buy from shiffty back-street dealers if you could buy some from your local pharmacy?

  • yeah. Im old enough to get shitfaced! Im 19 and still have to wait another 2 years. WTF!!! Im old enough to vote and die for the country but i cant even buy booze to get shitfaced!!

    This is FUCKED UP!!!

  • @tatomuck18 Ahaha America sucks, you should come to Canada, do wtv u want at 18, and you can go to war and die for the strong and free, if you so choose.

  • 1920's Commercial??? Perhaps just saying what movie this is from would be more accurate.

"The first television advertisement was broadcast in the United States at 14:29 on July 1, 1941"

  • You don't need television for a commercial. Before the 1940s advertisements were frequently shown at the theater, before the movie began. Much like what's done today with previews.

An example of this can be seen here:

    watch?v=Yf-jopOP-FM

Just add that to the YouTube url to watch it.

  • I was responding to the specific reference to it being the first "television" advertisement.

"The first television advertisement was broadcast in the United States at 14:29 on July 1, 1941"

  • But ... there isn't a reference to this being a television commercial. Not in the title, not in the description, not in the video itself, not even in any of the 65 comments posted before yours. You're the first one to mention this as having anything to do with television at all. >_>

  • This was a month ago. The quote at the time was related to this post. I just thought it was funny as there was no television at the time. I don't recall the details, but the quoted part in my original post came from whatever I was referencing. I don't recall why.

  • Ah, I understand now.

  • ...and yet it's 2008 and I'm about to drink a Budwizer

  • They Should Legalise Marijuana, Its Safer Than Alcohol.

  • What History Channel Program was this from?

  • the church cant talk look at what many priests have done to young children

  • This cannot be from the 1920's - movies were silent back then. Does anyone know what movie this is from ?

  • Not all movies were silent in the 1920s. Technology for sound films had been around from as early as the year 1900. It became a commercial aspect of film-making around 1923, and by the late 20s it was rather commonplace.

  • If you dont die through drinking alcohol, you,ll die of something else, seems like everything we consume now is bad for us!

  • People seem to forget the fact that alcohol has been consumed by human beings since prehistoric times, accompanying every major civilization of the past.

  • So did murder, what's your point?
