s10 Lenovo netbook running Vista

x64 oses need a bit more ram, but thats a givin. i ran x64 windows 7 on 512mb of ram and it ran fine for basic everyday needs. i even gamed a little.

Yea, I never understood people's beef with Vista for being slow. I ran it on a 1.8Ghz single core processor, with 768MB of RAM, and it ran and multi-tasked MUCH better than XP for me. I loved it! So to be quite honest, I'm not surprised at the performance you got. A lot of people just seem to have jumped on the bandwagon without experiencing Vista first-hand. Now that you've had it for a while, what do you think??

you can get acess of your cd drive from your desktop pc using a network connection... wlan or cable. or use a a image of a vista cd on a externel hard drive

I like Apple. And I like PC. Don't take a chance and attempt to install Apple OSX on netbooks. It's not impossible - many have done it. But enjoy the features that came with the netbook out of the box.

you can get a 64gb expresscard SSD with an extra USB port that would give you a third USB port, plus 64gb of onboard solid state hard drive space (which doesnt fail in a couple years like magnetic drives)

netbooks are not allowed to have any kind of disc drive. Microsoft set that rule so they could let people use windows XP. they dont want you to use XP, they want everyone on to vista and windows 7 when it comes. So they didnt allow disc drives.

However, this may change when windows 7 comes available, as it runs well on netbooks.

I'm an IBM/Lenovo user from way back and I'm a little disappointed with this offereing. I have an MSI wind U100 and to me just looking, here and at a few other reviews , the MSI looks better made (and has 3 USBs Vs 2). Pity IBM don't still do lappies...I'm sure it would have been a nicer product.

Now -all tiny Netbooks under 10" cost about $350. tested with 3dmarks 03 the new Atom cpu comes under "702 " how sad ...for the refub ancient thinkpad 14"T-43 with a better marks at "1286" and is light weight add a 9 cell battery for 9 hours on this solo centrino@ 1.6 for under $400....and Kick ass with mapple story. lol...this lappy has super class..The Rolex of the lappy....and the cheap Acer at $400 is better than any Netbook.....

tri0xin, hi mate, are you using the original xp drivers to get vista working on the S10?  i would like to put vista on mine now i got the 2gb ram upgrade for £14. looks like it runs great, aslong as all the original features are working, could you confirm this too? ie, wifi, bluetooth, multitouch, power modes etc etc. Thanks mate

Yeah, vista found most of the hardware, and what it didn't find the Xp drivers worked for. The only thing I didn't try work the touchpad drivers for multitouch.. just left it working the way it was

the only diff between 1000ha and h is that ha dont have bluetooth build in and it's wireless G not wireless N wireless N is better and h version have it... and also h version have build in bluetooth also... and it's only 350 bucks on newegg after rebate for the 1000ha

and also s10 is 350 bucks at frys but u can see a TOTALLY lower spec on the s10

but s10 looks better/slimmer so ur choice

Hey man thanks to your video i feel alot better of about being reduced to installing vista on my lenovo, i isntalled ubuntu, the partitions got messed up and XP deleted it thinking it was a bad partition GRUB was all over the place i had to do /FixMbr and then it finally gave out and gave me the blue screen

i dont wanna take it back to work to have firedog fix it, so i'll take your alternative let you know how it goes.

that is truly stunning. it is amazing that the Atom cpu @ 1.6GHz can run aero and 720p HD at that speed. for $400 a netbook, made by a premium brand (lenovo), that is worth every cent. i cant wait until i get my black one =D

Yes it does has multi-touch.. I do need to download the driver for Vista though... worked excellent in XP. No bluetooth though.. mini usb bluetooth only $15 at numerous online stores, I've used it and will show it in my next vid.

Yeah.. I would say if I had any complaints it would be that so far a 6 cell isn't readily available... battery life is about the biggest asset to an ultra mobile pc. Hopefully there will be one available soon.. sold seperately
