I like the score. For the cheat mode, just accept my video response. It will explain it better and show how to do it.
I also had the guts to go through the game without cheats and beat it without dying. I'm currently recording the video file from Nestopia and I'm putting it up tomorrow.
You also missed showing 2 bosses for some reason. o.O Not sure if that was on purpose or not.

I rememeber picking up this game and going up to period 7 something without cheating, as you said it's a pain in the ass, it took me ages to figure it out. The funny thing about this game is that if you don't have a manual you end up doing things by trial and error and also guessworking to get through it, this would be enough to put down this game, but I didn't, hard as hell, repetitive sometimes but somehow addicting and yes the tune rocks!
That's the thing though, you basically have to cheat or study the game religiously to find the right items and get anywhere here. I really wanted to like this game as a kid but I hated running out of bombs and not finding shit.
I don't know dude, even with the crappy ending there? All that effort and all we get is this Soprano's like cutscene? At least we got to see Samus do some stripping for Metroid but the unknown Robo Warrior just stands there like a goof. I wish the bird would have crapped on his face at least.
It's not going to be a tough battle. You're level 8, the highest attainable level in the game, against a boss where you should be about level 3.

Yes the Chimera and Golem ones. Chimera is somewhere in the 7th stage while the Golem is right before the final boss.

That was the same case with me, I promise you if you go back to this game on an emulator with cheats, it's really quite enjoyable
