If you stop at stage 1, move straight to presentation, and shut everyone up who disagrees, it's not science. Perhaps you'd like to suggest a suitable word. I can think of a few.

@SerfdumbFall Well, here for instance, Haramein takes it as a given that crop circles are created by ET agencies. But where's the solid evidence for that? He makes assumptions based on assumptions. There may well be a mystery here, and it may be man-made. Towing the old line of ET intervention based on no evidence because it 'kinda feels right' and 'makes sense out of a whole lotta things to me' isn't logical, scientific or reasonable (And that's hardly a scream...:)

@steeltable218 I don't think you understand how complex some of these crop circles are to make. No group of people could reproduce them in the middle of the night during a storm, especially not across from the radio telescope, and go unnoticed. Yet no one saw anything. Sometimes in science you have to make intuitive decisions cause the technology does not exist to prove something indefinitely. Scientist intuitively came up with the atom even though they could not see it.

@OrderlyChris Well, the ancients posited that the 'very small' was divisible to the point of an indivisible 'atom', a fundamental level beyond which we could not pass. It was a logical progression from the macro to the micro, and not a huge intuitive leap. Later, scientists inferred the existence of atoms from chemical reactions, existence of elements and molecules etc. I take your point, but can't quite make the comparison between the discovery/postulation of atoms and 'crop circles = ETs'.

@OrderlyChris I understand that a load of crop circles are incredibly sophisticated, and I also know that human beings are ingenious and capable of far more than most of us can believe. I think it would be hugely exciting if there was proof undeniable that crop circles were created by ETs or a Gaian intelligence. But I think we need to exhaust the mundane explanations first. Intuition and speculation are imperative but we shouldn't confuse intuition with fact.

@TheBobathon The lack of people arguing with your Haramein-debunking math shows that Haramein followers are scientifically uneducated. Most are scientific illiterates! They just latch on to a few "buzz words". They do not know A SINGLE physics equation. They are deeply confused and have no grasp of real science. They read pseudoscience and woowoo websites EXCLUSIVELY, never any real science sites. Above all, they are too LAZY to learn any actual science.

@zybyl Well I have too agree with you there aldo I can naturally only talk for myself. I am a first year philosophy student here in Amsterdam so I dont have any real scientefic knowlegde ( yet ). But I do find some of his points interesting.

Offcourse I remain critical and dont take any of it as "hard core" science. But that doesnt mean its not good food for thoughts. And perhaps worth some more investigation? But as I said, I have no scientific background so dont take me too seriously :)

@Papkazz I have watched the series and can confirm that it's bullshit from start to finish. He might not be in a box, but he's in a fantasy bubble, and he's got all his followers in with him. Why is there nothing backing it up and no rational response to any criticisms? If there's no room for questioning in his bubble, doesn't that make it a bit claustrophobic? He's cobbled together a pretty work of fiction, and manipulates his audience into seeing him as an authority. It's an ugly business.

@Xavi02301 Where is this evidence? Haramein doesn't provide evidence for anything. If you think he does, please point me to it. And he doesn't provide any sort of rigorous reasoning - only stories. It's not difficult to prove his theories wrong - there are proofs of dozens of errors at bit [dot] ly/schproton, please have a look. Ideas like these should be explored in depth, not just taken at face value. A bit of investigation and the whole lot falls apart. Superficial is a very good word for it.

I don't care if you embrace science blindly or anything alternate. Do you really think you are going to settle anything with insults and rudeness? Science in theory is above mistake, only one problem with that statement; science is in the hands of men, therefore a very long way from being perfect. There is no scientific fact that was not an alternate view to begin with. The only path to true knowledge is thesis, anti-thesis, then synthesis. The purpose of debating is not to fight but to advance.

Certain crop formations are massive and perfectly symmetrical. I'm not saying they're made by ET's but I don't know the full spectrum of "life" or existance.
