If we can elect Ron Paul in 2012, then America will realize that we can operate without force or fraud, and through peace and love.
I'm a libertarian because I don't believe that anybody is forced to do anything simply because of a circumstance as, "you were born here". That doesn't mean I have to pay taxes, or have a national ID card.
This is a very interesting interview! I'm learning a lot. I find it interesting that police can ask questions that would lead to the self-incrimination of an individual who wasn't aware of their rights regarding search and seizure, but the illegal immigrant that isn't aware of their rights gets protected by others being not allowed to ask. I'll be looking more into that for information for sure.
Americans, please.. Elect Ron Paul president. He can tell legal from illegal, which is not that common among politicians. And that's just one of his multiple merits.
I think it's sad that people give 'thumbs downs' to a lot of valid comments. This is a form of censorship. Why not simply respond to their comments instead of blocking them out? Seems like a more libertarian way to do things...

Immigrants do not come here because we subsidize it, if that was true they would never go back to mexico, but they keep their family there and go back regularly. They com because of the laws of economics.
1:28-1:30 is the answer, sadly Ron Paul fly's right by it :(
They come here because of welfarism and easy-birth right. Also, they are illegal they do NOT pay taxes. Laws of economics, you mean a capitalist-monopoly? America didn't have free-markets which was the dreams of the founding fathers. They come here because of the Amnesty too; federal government dont anything of enforcing a Constitutional responsibility. Now, these illegal people want their language to be use as their second language. Come think of it, it is illegal. It is Unconstitutional!
stop the social programs that do give incentives and subsidize the mindset, while also enabling more people to freely come in. Most of the people are as illegal as a pothead who carries around 1 gram of marijuana....in other words, they are only illegal because some legal structure told them to stay off some piece of land. They are not illegal under common land and have harmed no one. Most people who bitch about immigration are xenophobic....at least my experience.
Illegals wouldn't be so inclined to come work here if we didn't give them free social security, food stamps, etc. Sure, they come here for economic reasons, meaning they earn much more here, but it would be a rougher ride for them without the handouts we afford them.
The reason there are so many people here illegally is because it's very hard, or even impossible, to come here legally for most mexican workers. We need to fix the immigration system rather than worry about building fences or deporting people. I would think Ron Paul would be all for free movement of labor.
Why cant people see that Obama and McCain and every candidate that the MSM shoves in our face is a lying piece of shit that needs to be put on a pedestal and shot in the fucking face.
Ron Paul was the one voice of truth, and people just made fun of him, degraded him, he preached peace and love and all the people did was reward him with hate and ignorance.

Quite justifying breaking our laws by making it a racial issue. We can't go into another country without asking permission unless were invading it. If Mexico and South America weren't so corrupt, they would be very prosperous. Giving people an easy way out won't help them fight the corruption.
Illegal is illegal, the color is irrelevant. ALL people suffer because of illegal immigration AND we suffer if we don't help people come into this country legally. It's multi-leveled not simplistic like you pulling the race card.
Dr Paul is right. Remove the incentive and you remove the illegals. You would have difficulty rounding them up and would have to pay to ship them back to their country of origin. I work in an emergency room, they are killing us and you and I pay for it through long waits and higher bills (cost shifting).
I'm troubled by this video. I respect Ron Paul and think he's by far the best Repub candidate. But he fails here. He doesn't mention the most important part -- prosecuting BUSINESSES for using illegal labor. Mexicans don't come here for free health care. They come here to work and make money. Turning away injured people from hospitals is not a winning campaign promise -- holding businesses accountable fro trying to undercut the American workforce is something the voters can get behind.
I owned a restaurant/sportsbar for decades. I employed Mexicans, they would take the jobs Americans wouldn't. They were loyal and hard working, Americans would stay on for 3 months then collect unemployment. No doubt we need some changes, bur small business America will be a thing of the past if we shut down our borders. Of this I am certain
We need real guest workers not the type of plans most politicians present. Real guest workers come here for 9 or 6 months out of the year (alternating of course) then go back to their home countries for the rest of the year. We can't just let Mexicans in and let them get in front of the rest of the world trying to get in.
It doesn't work like that. Each border has their quota, and as long as they come in to work (which is 80%) AND LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH, there will be an improvement. The working immigrants are , it's the soakers, living off the government to support their habits. With some regulating this could work....we just can't shut them down. Big mistake. Huge. The prerequisite needs to be employment.
i have been to Mexico. Several times. There are beautiful areas and there are the worst third world slums you've ever seen. Often these two classes are merely blocks apart, and often they are the only two classes you see. Middle class Mexican's are few.
RON PAUL FOR PRESIDENT He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for an unbalanced budget. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. POST THIS TO 10 VIDEOS TO SPREAD THE WORD
Mexicanos have he highest teen pregnancy and high school dropout rates. Gee I can't wait 'til these communists start to vote. This country's going down, where will they get their lunch money from? Why doesn't Mexico take care of its own? Why does Mexico have stinky cities, polluted water and air, shoddy roads and bridges, and a school system rivaled by the likes of El Salvador? Yeah I can't wait for the Mexification of America. We're going down peeps.
Where did your information come from? you have obviously never been to Mexico. I will be graciously welcomed to one of thier gorgeous colonial cities. i will go there via brand new super highways. Thank god they are paying into social security with out any possibility of redemption, otherwise we would be lost due to our government having robbed our social security monies to finance this illegal war step into this century.
I enjoy San Miguel, Guanajuato, but hey, they can do better if their Government would develop a tax base and issue bonds for schools roads and bridges. Mexico City is a dirty city, and throughout Mexico you cannot drink most of the water, the food is questionable in quality, and most people live in emmense poverty. Get real buddy, Mexico is great for the rich, but the people of Mexico are being hung out to dry, which is why they come here in packs like dogs.
speakalzeke...I've never been to Mexico, but I have seen the poverty by media in Mexico. So, I can't speak for JimmysCrackhorn, but, I can say that I've been to 16 different counties during my Naval enlistment for 4 years, not one of these countries even comes close to the cleanliness of our American cities. Naples, Italy is the nastiest city I've ever set foot in. But let me ask you this speakalazke...why not the illegals do it the lawful way? Illegals are costing the American Taxpayer.
My mother used to teach English as a second language. Many of her students were receiving food stamps and section 8 housing. They all tell their friends how to do it. One of them brought her mother over from Mexico and she immediately started collecting social security, without ever having worked here one day in her life!! Get a clue people, VOTE FOR RON PAUL!!!
Americans you are needed to change many laws and policies. You are under attack from within. The dollar will soon fall. The new money will be the Amero.Google it. Wake up before it is to late. Democrate or republican it does not matter they are all the same. They work for the global elite. RON PAUL 08 or be a slave to the NEW WORLD ORDER....
I have never used welfare cause for one I'm better than that. Why should I put on my fellow countryman what I can do for myself. I can go all over the country and find illegals collecting welfare with ten kids in the yard. Thet get like 250.00 per kid and usually no daddy that works. Why doesn't he work? 2500 dollars is alot of money for nothing. The ones you see working now just haven't gotten around to it but they will.
ok serious question, how do illegal immigrants apply for welfare? if they don't have any documents how is it even possible? i thought these people r in the shadows of american society (meaning what rights do they have if their not citizens? let alone get welfare?)
People come to work, they are not paid a fair wage, their kids join gangs and break the law, and we pay to keep them in prison, Which is inhumane. Bush said one out of ten are criminals, it's really more.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
your truly a moron...most illegal immigrants come here for work, for the better of their family or future. Mainly Chicano's = mexican americans, which means "BORN IN US" follow into the gang lifestyle.
With a name like nicagangster, i guess you prove my point. Are you writing in english, because i can't understand you. All i know is, 1/3 of violent criminals are illegals.
Once again Ron Paul goes right to the source of the problem. Take away the incentives for illegal immigration and viola! people aren't as eager to come here unannouced.
Once again, Ron Paul espouses simplistic and unrealistic drivel and his glassy-eyed minions eat it up. Let's see, are Mexican working people coming to the USA for lucrative welfare benefits or to work in service industry jobs, for which there are insufficient Americans, but which are superior to available employment in Mexico. Hmmmm? Tell me that... Duh.
Carrite, immigration is fine... breaking our laws to get around the process of coming here LEGALLY is not fine! If people are here illegally, we don't know who is here, how many, or where they are. Also, there's a good chance illegals won't pay taxes, and will work off the books.
Dr. Paul wants to make LEGAL immigration a bit easier. He agrees that foreign workers add value to our society. However, he disagrees with REWARDING those who broke our immigration laws.
I have been a strong supporter of Ron Paul for 9 months and have already donated once and plan on donating a $150 this Sunday, but for the first time, I really didn't like what I heard. We don't need a larger influx of legal immigrants. If the economy is based on population growth then we need to change the way the economy works. RP needs to sound less apologetic addressing this issue.
I don't think America has ever had a problem "Americanizing" hoards of immigrants in the past. A position I often hear is that too many Mexican immigrants maintain there culture and are unwilling to even learn English, but it really doesn't make any difference.
Have you ever been to a large Chinatown in the US? How many Chinese do you see that can speak English beyond a few words? Not many.
How many of the children of immigrants in the US use English as their first language? Most of them.
I think the real issue is when our tax dollars go to help immigrants use their first language in government systems and institutions, and then the incentive to learn our culture disappears.
This is also a polarizing view for me, for the opposite reason. I look at the great influx of immigrants in the late 1800's and early 1900's and see the people that built America. That wave was far bigger than anything that's happening today. We absorbed it and it made us great. This country needs immigrants or it will grow stale and stagnant. The current system is based on cronyist quotas, and it has to go.
Great interview. I actually am for building the fence, but he's right, if you take away the benefits of illegal immigration, it won't happen. California passed prop. 187 in 1994 to do this by 58% of the vote. ...and then a federal court overturned it! And we are supposed to believe that the people are in charge of the govt? Pull your head out America, there's only 1 honest guy running for Pres next year. Go RP!
Your comment illustrates the problem Ron Paul is trying to solve. Most of our social issues should be dealt with at the state and local levels - marriage, education, welfare, etc. People will migrate (or gravitate) to states where they feel they can exercise the particular freedoms that are most important to them.
America NEEDS a FISCAL CONSERVATIVE, instead of BIG goverment spending on wasteful useless things. Ron Paul is the MOST FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. I've donated $400 and plan to donate again on December 16th. Im now going to vote Republican.
Yeah, the Republicans are big fiscal conservatives -- see, for example, how George Bush turned the largest SURPLUS in federal history into the largest DEFICIT in federal history, and single-handedly presided over the largest expansion of federal employment in history. Yeah, do the smart thing, vote Republican. duh.
He's a Republican now. He ran for President as the Libertarian Party's candidate in 1988. He quit the Republican Party to do so and joined them again after he pulled a massive 0.47% share of the vote -- which is a fair indicator of the beloved (worshipped, fetishized) Free Market's opinion of his ridiculous reactionary nostrums.
I wish ABC had not made the decision to not air this interview. It's only on line, not televised...did you know that? It's a dam good interview and needs to be broadcast!! What a bunch of crap!! If people knew what he stood for and had the opportunity to hear it from him, he would win in a landslide!!
This alleviates all of my concerns about Ron Paul's immigration policy. Very rational and sensible approach if you assume the whole 'necessity of government' idea.

Libertarians understand that humans work best when non aggression is the preffered vehicle of communication.
Aggression and repression accomplishes nothing, we live in a society where certain people think that they own you and your life.
Libertarians believe that is wrong. I don't want to own people, I don't want people to become slaves to the law.
Libertarianism is nothing more than a morally acceptable form of government.

You're wrong, someone wanting someone to do something is completely libertarian.
Someone forcing you to do something is totalitarian.
A libertarian can tell you to do whatever they want, BUT IT IS YOUR CHOICE if you want to do that.
If you don't want to, you tell them to go away or you talk out your differences.
Libertarianism is based on peace and love and NONAGGRESSION.

SpeedyOJ 4 years ago
People come here to work. Plain and simple.
Sometimes they get sick, and society picks up the tab. Which is humane.

People come to work, they are not paid a fair wage, their kids join gangs and break the law, and we pay to keep them in prison, Which is inhumane. Bush said one out of ten are criminals, it's really more.

your truly a moron...most illegal immigrants come here for work, for the better of their family or future. Mainly Chicano's = mexican americans, which means "BORN IN US" follow into the gang lifestyle.

With a name like nicagangster, i guess you prove my point. Are you writing in english, because i can't understand you. All i know is, 1/3 of violent criminals are illegals.

I knew it! The only stance I didn't agree with was that stupid fence idea. Neither does Paul! thanks for posting this interview.

Once again Ron Paul goes right to the source of the problem. Take away the incentives for illegal immigration and viola! people aren't as eager to come here unannouced.
Eric21ND 4 years ago 4
Once again, Ron Paul espouses simplistic and unrealistic drivel and his glassy-eyed minions eat it up. Let's see, are Mexican working people coming to the USA for lucrative welfare benefits or to work in service industry jobs, for which there are insufficient Americans, but which are superior to available employment in Mexico. Hmmmm? Tell me that... Duh.
carrite 4 years ago
Carrite, immigration is fine... breaking our laws to get around the process of coming here LEGALLY is not fine! If people are here illegally, we don't know who is here, how many, or where they are. Also, there's a good chance illegals won't pay taxes, and will work off the books.
Dr. Paul wants to make LEGAL immigration a bit easier. He agrees that foreign workers add value to our society. However, he disagrees with REWARDING those who broke our immigration laws.

I disagree with many of his opinions, but I must admit that all of his arguments are sound and logical.

Staged a lot. My only question is how they managed to use the ABC News logos in what is clearly a piece of libertarian propaganda.

Tyler13R 4 years ago
I don't think America has ever had a problem "Americanizing" hoards of immigrants in the past. A position I often hear is that too many Mexican immigrants maintain there culture and are unwilling to even learn English, but it really doesn't make any difference.
Have you ever been to a large Chinatown in the US? How many Chinese do you see that can speak English beyond a few words? Not many.
KillerK30 4 years ago
How many of the children of immigrants in the US use English as their first language? Most of them.
I think the real issue is when our tax dollars go to help immigrants use their first language in government systems and institutions, and then the incentive to learn our culture disappears.
KillerK30 4 years ago
This is also a polarizing view for me, for the opposite reason. I look at the great influx of immigrants in the late 1800's and early 1900's and see the people that built America. That wave was far bigger than anything that's happening today. We absorbed it and it made us great. This country needs immigrants or it will grow stale and stagnant. The current system is based on cronyist quotas, and it has to go.

that was when the country was severely underpopulated. today's different.

Go RP!
maximhuss 4 years ago 3
Your comment illustrates the problem Ron Paul is trying to solve. Most of our social issues should be dealt with at the state and local levels - marriage, education, welfare, etc. People will migrate (or gravitate) to states where they feel they can exercise the particular freedoms that are most important to them.

America NEEDS a FISCAL CONSERVATIVE, instead of BIG goverment spending on wasteful useless things. Ron Paul is the MOST FISCAL CONSERVATIVE. I've donated $400 and plan to donate again on December 16th. Im now going to vote Republican.
cityview1989 4 years ago 3
Yeah, the Republicans are big fiscal conservatives -- see, for example, how George Bush turned the largest SURPLUS in federal history into the largest DEFICIT in federal history, and single-handedly presided over the largest expansion of federal employment in history. Yeah, do the smart thing, vote Republican. duh.
carrite 4 years ago
Ron Paul is Republican.
Ron Paul is the most fiscal conservative.
Its ignorant of you to blame the whole party because of one person.
cityview1989 4 years ago
He's a Republican now. He ran for President as the Libertarian Party's candidate in 1988. He quit the Republican Party to do so and joined them again after he pulled a massive 0.47% share of the vote -- which is a fair indicator of the beloved (worshipped, fetishized) Free Market's opinion of his ridiculous reactionary nostrums.
carrite 4 years ago
Liberty = Libertarian (everybody has it in America)
The Founding Fathers were libertarian republicans.
The Republican party has lost its way with the true meaning of being Republican.
If he ran under independent/libertarian he wouldnt get media attention because its biased. More based on popularity and money.
