MyNetwork TV is mostly a syndicated TV programming block that airs nightly every day. I like My9 because it's the broadcast station of the New York Yankees. Most of the MyNTV stations in the NY metro area broadcast the My9 feed for Yankees games, as well as ESPN NYGiants games, in addtion to airing Rangers and Nets games (WPIX airs Knicks games).
I dont worry about this kind of stuff. The only three shows that I watched on My20 were Magics Biggest secrets (whatever happened to that show), Friday Night SmackDown (why they moved it to SyFy Ill never know), and House of Payne.
MNTV will be changing...as of this fall, they'll go from being a network to a program service, offering reruns of Law & Order CI and The Unit, along w/first-run eps of daytime Deal or No Deal and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader...the only holdovers from this season will be the Thu night movie and SmackDown.
FOX entertainment stretched too thin. They have two networks - FOX and MyNetTV, and of course FOX got all the best shows which left MNT with the scraps.
MyNetTV might have survived if it kept its original idea of cheap daily soap operas (telenovels), since they are hugely popular in Europe, Russia, and South America..... but as a normal network they just couldn't compete.
BTW I liked those telenovels. Cheaply made, yes, but reminded me of 24 - a serialized story.
Yeah, there just wasn't enough product to go around...personally, I wouldn't mind if MNTV just folded and its affils reverted to their former indie status, the country could use a few more indie stations in major markets!
@WhatsAYak Going Indy could possibly spawn something creative and cutting edge. I don't watch My network aside from a few court shows and smackdown. I wouldn't mind some of these affiliates coming up with original programming and trying to do their own thing. As a wrestling fan that could possibly open the door for some upstart North east wrestling company to get a tv spot a la the old ECW.
@harleykman They weren't doing so well in the ratings department I guess. Frankly I don't think they gave it a chance. I loved Desire, but I was kind of slow loved Fashion House, but my Fave was WWG. Didn't see Saints and Sinners. I think if they would have hung they would have made it work.
@harleykman Have to remember that Fox is bigger than UPN. UPN and WB weren't and still aren't in as many cities as the Majors. The problem is when they made cheap dramas and sitcms they looked like it.
Fox really isn't a major network either; it lacks a nightly news program, a morning show and a late night show. Do you honestly think that if say any of the other so-called Big Four launched cable news networks that they would cancel those programs? I doubt it. C'mon, Murdoch, the existence of Fox News Channel is no excuse. Move Fox and Friends and the Fox Report to Fox affiliates.
Hardly. The only "good" shows UPN produced were Voyager and Enterprise, and I use the word "good" loosely since they were both inferior to previous Star Treks.
UPN also produced Veronica Mars and Next Top Model, but otherwise they made eleven years of crap.
Since MyNetTV switched to reruns, they've had better profits. Same ratings but their costs have gone down, so now they are saying they'll stick around one more year (2010-11 season).
I think that's a safe bet. :-) And MNTV's demise wouldn't be so bad...it might prompt a return of the independent station, which saw a huge downfall w/the mid-90s launches of UPN and the WB.
Yeah, really...the only thing I've watched on there to date has been the 2 "sneak preview" eps of that new game show, Temptation. Their new plan to rely entirely on non-scripted programming's about as bad as the telenovela overload they tried during their inaugural season last year.

Who gives a sh** if they fail, I mean look at CBS News; they've been last since Cronkite left; they aren't canceling those show anytime soon.

@bakerandbaker1 FOX isn't a major network? It won 3rd place in viewership last year, pushing NBC to 4th place. It can be considered a major now

Very cute. If The CW and MyNetworkTV shut down, do any of you think they will merge like UPN and The WB did to form The CW?

I hope MNTV is canceled, although maybe Murdoch will be senile enough to believe in it and lose all his money.

WB was far-and-away the better small network.

Yeah, really...the only show I ever watched during UPN's history was their "Scared Straight! 20 Years Later" special back in 99.

MyNetworkTV is BOMBING in the ratings, and I bet 5 bucks they'll be dead in 4 years. It's a shame, since they have such a nice logo.

mntv is BORING!
I meant seriously Flavor Flav with a sitcom ?
I`m tired of him kissing hoes on TV with gold teeth... && his ten million children!

Now, if only MNT was this creative with their programming choices . . . still a terrible network.
