  • Now both Michigan and Michigan State have played down there in the Alamo Bowl, and both bands have been BOOED and drowned out by the Texas A&M and Texas Tech crowds. Now What's up with THAT? What's the matter, ya, couldn't take the BAND LESSONS that we giving out? We appreicate and listen to visting MARCHING BANDS UP HERE! And sometimes they get standing ovations. There is more to football than players and a game!

    GO BLUE AND GO STATE!

  • @GOBLUEADAM I'm not sure if I missed some other booing point in the show, but the only booing I heard was at the beginning. The Tech fans weren't booing the MSU band, they were booing Adam James as he left the field. There was a lot of controversy going on the week of this game. Our coach, who was the best thing to ever happen to the Red Raider football program, was fired because James said something that was false. As for A&M, well, it's A&M...

  • Alright I'm going here for college so I can be in the guard :P

  • The Michigan State Band has always been a class act!

  • i cant believe im a part of this... GO GREEN!!

  • As a Tech fan, attending this game was so much fun. I really enjoyed watching MSU's band.

  • Thanks for posting this video!

  • As a State fan I hope we can see the Red Raiders and their marching band up in East Lansing sometime (Preferably sometime in December when it is snowing, lol). We will still be very sportsmanlike there also (Well maybe not the students).

  • @GeoffSykes888 Haha. You would have a bunch of really pissed Texans if we were up there in December, though it would be really cool for Tech and MSU to face off again. As for students being sportsmanlike, I'm not sure if you know this, but Tech fans are kind of notorious for being, ahem, jerks for lack of a better word. You probably don't want them there when it's cold, but I do hope our two schools face off again! Go Tech! And Go Green! (I have Spartan blood in me).

  • @4a007 I think it was the point to piss Tech fans off. Plus as an advantage for the team. How does speed run through snow? Anyway, a rematch against Tech would be enjoyable, now that State is back on track.

  • OMG I DID NOT KNOW Mich. St. Marched this Style!!

  • i was at this game. This was the loudest ive ever heard SMB. Their adreniline was very high especcially with texas tech band having 400 members

  • Member of the Goin' Band here, I have to say this band was great. The members were friendly and classy. The Spartan band certainly has my applause for their performance at the alamo bowl.

  • LIKE...

  • its normal for the SMB to play the opposing school's fight song in the pregame. but if its at Spartan Stadium its usually drowned out anyways by the student section yelling Go Green Go White, especially if its scUM or Notre Lame's fight song lol

  • @tdsrock06 It's actually a Big 10 tradition for all schools to play their opponents' fight songs during pregame. Just another reason to love the Midwest!

    Go State!

    and GO BUCKS!

  • @Bucknut2013 Not the Ohio State marching band. All you guys do is make the "OHIO" and play only your school song.

  • @gill2069 Hey now Gill! Think before you speak and there is a video on here that says otherwise...search 'Script Ohio at 2006 Michigan State Game' and see for yourself! (sorry, my computer wasn't posting the reply with the link in it)

  • @zeebs385 Well I couldn't find a video like it earlier lol. Best of luck next year. Hope Pryor will live up the expectations

  • @gill2069 Actually Gill is partially right here. When the OSUMB goes to a bowl trip like last year to the Rose Bowl, we did not play the opposing school's fight song because of time constraints. However, at every home game in The Shoe and on away trips during the regular season, TBDBITL does play the opposing school song as well as plotting out the other school's athletic symbol in drill.

  • No matter how many times i watch it in Spartan Stadium, or on youtube, as soon as the S is spun it sends chills down my spine

  • I love MSU's band. I was born in Texas, but my dad is an MSU alum and marching band member, so I've grown up loving this band (I even have a music box with the band marching on the field playing the fight song, shh, don't tell anyone). I go to Tech and am in Goin' Band. Y'all have no idea how cool it was for me to finally see the MSU band march. This was definitely a once in a lifetime chance for my family, since several of us are Raiders and Spartans. Go Tech! and Go Green.

  • i love our marching band. the spinning of the S and the respect we pay to our opponents sets us apart from many.. too bad we lost. eh.. not bad considering we were missing like... 14 players. hahaha.

  • Wow, awesome view.

  • fan

  • No offense intended but being an overall marching band, I think I like the way the Spartan band played "Fight Raiders Fight" better than the Tech band did.

  • yea MSU marching band is capable of doing any thing they put Tey mind to two of the guys that used to do on the drumline used to be head of our drumline an one still he even writes tha whole entire show for that year and helps us with the music.....

  • Thanks for posting! This is an angle we don't usually see (our video is from the pressbox angle). I have to say, Texas was very band-friendly, it was really great. Glad you enjoyed our show!

  • The kickstep entrance is the coolest thing ever. You should see it at Spartan stadium when the come out of the tunnel!

  • As a member of the Tech band, it was so refreshing to see a total class act like the MSU band. This pregame show was phenomenal. The Spartan Marching band is one of the best collegiate bands I've seen in the past 4 years. Best wishes for next season!

  • @emilyrapp its tradition and all the big ten schools do it, playing the othere teams fight song pregame and that was one of the best games i have ever watched just saying

  • To all you awesome Michigan State band members... the booing was for Adam James, not you. We thought y'all rocked!

  • "i dont think we can boo them now that they played our fight song!"

    Best quote ever!!

Glad you liked our band! Congrats on winning the game!

  • I was blown away by MSU's entrance. A ton of energy. Tech was louder for sure, but they totally made up for it with their intensity. Amazed.

  • @reddevildds Tech band has 150 more members so it's understandable that they might be a bit louder.

  • No matter whose team wins and whose loses, the marching bands both win. It's bando love ;-).

  • Very cool gesture playing our song. too bad ESPN didn't show any of the bands during halftime or the game.

  • i love the guy during visitors fight "they're playing our fight song...i didnt expect that." hahaha

  • I saw that the Spartan Marching Band was ranked #1 in the NCAA, just ahead of Ohio State and Nutless Dame.

  • @balmdeezy Just an honest question - where did you see these rankings?

  • @balmdeezy ya im and msu fan, where can u find these rankings

  • Ive noticed that schools in other conferences dont salute the opposing team by playing their fight song like those in the Big Ten. I thought that was universal. Good job Spartans representing the midwest and the Big Ten.

  • @Spartan00000000 Two Big 12 schools do it - OU and Nebraska.

  • Very cool. Thats a nice tradition and to me shows real sportsmanship.

  • Speaking as a Texh fan who went to the game, I must say that yalls band was one of the best id ever seen. The march around the stadium before the game was awesome and they were very professional. And yalls fans are very classy!!

  • @Dallasisthename Classy because most of the fans are affiliated w/ the Uni, whereas Univ. of Michigan fans are generally white trash drunken hooligans

  • thanks for posting the video man! i have a lot of friends in the band and pregame is my favorite! great game!

  • hey man thanks for the post and the nice comments on the video. we actually do play the opposing team's fight song every game as an extension of sportsmanship. great video!
