Half of the bible is word of white man Christianity is money .. Let me tell you this. All the pastors went to college bible for at least 2 years so they need moneeeeeeeeeey
Aren't there money hungry thieves from all faiths? Of course there are. Why just target one religion over this matter? LOOK around you REGARDLESS of whether you're conservative or liberal.
What dingleberry pastor doesn't realize is that, if the IRS takes away the churches non-profit status, he can preach any bullshit he wants. Pay your taxes and I'll support your ability to use the pulpit to indoctrinate your own believers in whatever you want, just pay your taxes.
These morons have the choice to tax the tax cut or not to do so. They want their cake and to eat it too. The US government already bends over backwards for the churches in regards to taxes. If they apply for this tax break then they have conditions they have to live by. Its simple. But then again these are the same people who believe in talking snakes and look at nothing objectively.
Not sure how I feel about it. I think the 1st amendment protects their right to free speech, and if the attendees of the church were too offended by the message, they would opt to go elsewhere. The natural law of supply and demand would do it's work. This being said, (the morality of taxes aside), I also feel that by giving a special tax break to churches, they are also violating the 1st amend by directly establishing which cults are "religions" and which are not.
So lemme get this straight. You can fuck with government, but government can't fuck with you? And what gives you the right to do this, exactly? Your first amendment right? The one that says Congress shall make no laws respecting a religious institution? Well, technically, they hadn't. They just said "y'all don't have to be under the law, just keep your nose out of our business." You want to be part of Government? No representation without taxation.
what a load of crap.these religious nuts expect the government to stay out of church affairs, yet they think they can interfere with the government. All religion must be banned and anyone practising such archaic, fairytales must be imprisoned until they see how rediculous believing in any god is.
@Nexthendrix2112 not a big fan of people like benny hinn who use donations to spend a night in a 10,000 dollar suite in italy when on vacation,or creflo a dollar who buys fancy cars and jets.as long as these mega churches remain tax exempt these con men will fleece naive people.
@Nexthendrix2112 yea, that was going a bit to far,I have had such a bad experience with religion that sometimes I go overboard, and don't think before I speak,or in this case type.My apologies if I offended you,my foot tends to live in my mouth on this issue.
@ranchai100 dude I know what you mean man, religion has pissed me off too, and I had some real bad experiences with churches. Truth is, shit happens in every organization cause it's easy to get greedy when you're at the top. So I stopped going to church cause there were too many assholes. But it's weird cause I started believing in God on my own more just by studying science and shit, not exactly church God, but some higher power
It makes me lol that these Xians are so rich, but fail to see the passage in the bible that says "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of the needle than it is for a rich person to get into heaven".
Fact of the matter is, the very tax exempt status for religions is unconstutitional unless all religions, established or not, get the same exemption. By the same token (flip side), no religious figure can be prohibited from any speech except "hate speech" or speech inciting riot, neither of which get 1st amendment protection. Since the tax exempt status exists, the IRS must also exempt other non-profit organizations of a *non* religious nature, too.
More scary is the Catholic church being able to bend politicians to their will by refusing to give communion to the politicians if they do not vote as the church commands. This is a clear violation of the separation of church and state but the solution to it eludes me.
Take away his non-profit status already. Churches should only gain non-profit status if they demonstrate that they provide a useful service to the community, like any non-church organization must do.
That IRS law didn't just come out of nowhere over half a century ago, either. It was not any new IRS statement or position, but rather a declarative clarification of what the IRS had considered to be the situation all along. All preachers and their flock may vote for whomever they want, however nobody using a "bully pulpit" - in this case an actual pulpit - has EVER been allowed to twist its use into political endorsements.
He has every right to endorse whoever he wishes...but his church doesn't get a tax free ride from the people of this country either...these political pastors are totally free to speak and endorse candidates AND PAY TAXES!!!
A tax free mass indoctrination tool being used by politics on the already gullible crowds..
That is not only bad, it even worse when you know that most of these gullible bible thumpers are bigoted extremist lunatics who get their "morals" from a bronze age book of myths full of, genital mutilation, xenophobia, homophobia, genocides etc etc (all by divine decree of course (as if THAT makes it morally just))..
Tax them and tax them HARD, they have been leaching of society for far too long!
Honestly, I suspect this is going on in most religious organizations.. Religious fucks will always dabble in politics. MAKE ALL CHURCHES PAY TAXES. Problem solved. Next.
So why is the IRS not saying anything? This pissed me off. If I so much as misreport something they're on my ass but these nutcases get away it. Ridiculous
ALL churches in the US need to be stripped of their tax-exempt status! It sickens me to see these "pastors" becoming wealthy off of the contributions of their followers and using their pulpits to endorse, or sully, various candidates, laws, constitutional amendments, etc. I never thought I'd go to bat for the IRS, but in this case, make 'em pay, IRS, make 'em pay!
Not being able to preach politics in the pulpit is unconstitutional? No, no, no, you pompous fat-ass, your church being exempted from taxes is what is fucking unconstitutional. You wanna' run your church as a bully pulpit, then you ought to be charged the same price for your political lobbying that any other special interest group is.
It's time to take away the tax-exempt status of all religious institutions which are nothing more than Private member clubs. No one should be forced to subsidize these cults through their tax dollars. Let them contribute to society by paying their share of the tax burden.
