I think we need to be careful when considering a train of thought like that. It is important to remember that first and foremost God does what He does for His glory.

In the Greek the word for 'glory' is doxa...look it up in the Vine's expository dictionary...glory essentially means for a thing to do what it was meant to do...his "glory" in essence, is his creation doing what it was meant to do, and we are the crown of creation :)

Oh yes, God is DEFINITELY bigger than his creation...just as an artist is greater than his piece of art...but can also love a particular painting so much that if it became damaged he would sacrifice anything to restore it to its former beauty :)

I think that Vine's definition given here is an application not a real definition. Doxa means glory, honor, majesty, dignity, worship, praise, or worship according to Thayer dictionary of koine greek. Vines shows ways that lead to glory rather than what glory is. As to being the crown of creation, we are to be caretakers of the earth but God is the lord of all. Crown of Creation is a theological idea not a biblical phrase.
