  • Haha 1932GreenDay and rossmat707. I love this, a cultured heated debate instead of the generic mindless trolling. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and freedom of speech and only on a Mumford song could you find such a thing where people respect each others opinion rather than hate it. There is hope yet for humanity. Keep doing your thing guys.

  • They are great live but compared to other bands in their genre like Fleet Foxes and The Avett Brothers their songwriting just isn't all that interesting. This song sounds like something a record label would put together to appeal to this new wave of beard growing folk revival fans.

  • @rossmat707 ARE FUCKING KIDDING ME???? This has such beautiful lyrics ! In fact the song had such much succes because of those beautiful lyrics. This is fuckin poetry mate

  • @1923GreenDay The lyrics aren't terrible. I'm referring mostly to the song structure. Every song song on the album has the exact same formula. There is no variation to keep things interesting and the instrumentation is always kept at the most basic level. I'm not saying that they're a bad band. They're definitely talented and their voices/harmonies are pleasant but the songs feel like background music for a trendy clothing store (boring). Maybe I just prefer more country/folk and less pop?

  • @1923GreenDay and the Avett brother's are by no means a perfect band but watch their performance of Laundry Room on NPR. The song/performance is about 10x more exiting than this.

  • @rossmat707 I like them both. I'm not a music critic so I don't pay attention to so much details. If i like then well..I like it. You can watch Mumford & Sons performance from Reading Festival. The singalong of the crowd is amazing

  • @1923GreenDay That's fine. Their music is crowd pleasing and uplifting. I can understand where you're coming from.

  • @aristopunk1 how can this music sound irish ... the banjo is not irish it was brought to america by african slaves so in my eyes that makes it american ... non of the other instruments come from ireland .... and they are singing in ENGLISH

  • @adamovlh no he sounds english because he is english

  • Their lead singer looks like a handsome Jimmy Kimmel.

  • He has a throat infection in this video, still awesome!

  • Absolutely brillaint

  • that is one gnarly banjo

  • MARCUS MUMFORD WENT TO MY SCHOOL :) .... poop

  • Does the banjo player want to be the folk bruce springsteen or something?

  • piano boy is going for the head banging 2:42

  • woah that banjo player is hottt<3

  • the dog in the add is adorable... just sayin...

  • most people don't realise how hard it actually is to sing and play the guitar at the same time

  • @CakesnakeFilms well it depends what your playing and singing also.

  • @jiffinbigles yeah

  • A group of musicians plays a delightful song together, come what may. It may not always be produced to pitch perfection but to me, this is real music.

  • good novelty band nothing more not really advancing music very one dimentional no drummer cant happen

  • Loving how every member of the band has got their own little move. Mumford & Sons are amazing!

  • Rooney listens to this. :D

  • SKILLS MAN. SKILLS

  • @kele13255 Skills..... yep, that sums it up nicely :)

  • This time he almost f*cked it up at 2:02. Amazing music, though.

  • @SlaSh1200 Thats not a fuck up, he (like most guitarists) is timing the beats for the strums at the end of the bar.

  • That was an epic performance, made better by the fact he's being such an lad and playing despite being in such pain from his illness. Well played son, well played.

  • @scrumpoxjnr what's his illness.

  • @TheDailyCranks He had tonsillitis at this point, which is a throat infection. If you've ever had it you would know that just speaking hurts, never mind singing.

  • @scrumpoxjnr yep ive had it loads i had my tonsills taken out when i was 7 i used to be ill a lot from it

  • @2:45 =D

  • i thought he had laringitis?

  • To everybody saying that they suck live and that his voice sucks, please don't base your opinions just on this. When they filmed this Marcus had tonsillitis, he says. I find it very hard to watch these videos because I can tell how much pain he is in. Its a testimony to his strength though, most singers wouldn't have performed with such an illness so rough on the throat,

  • @taytape Despite that I couldn't tell much at all. I remember seeing this when it was on telly. It was/is a great performance

  • @m00zic Yeah it's amazing how good he is even when he's in pain.

  • Can you imagine Mumford and Sons' audition for X Factor- Simon Cowell to Marcus: "You need to smile more, your music is way too serious and the image is all wrong. I think you should lose the other guys and those pointless instruments and go solo. Come back on your own and sing something contemporary by Westlife"

  • one word, AWSOME

  • CASTLECOMER should tour with mumford - it would be heaven!

Type in "Castlecomer - The Cave" to hear them!!!

  • love

  • Amazing! Thank God for real musicians!

  • Damn these guys blow live.

  • @terriblelove1 Joking right? Watch them live at t in the park in the tent for this song, crowd go absolutely mental

  • his voice is a bit crocky but it doesn't matter because there sing the cave!!!!!!!! and the cave is awesome

  • This was the day I passed myself, as I was taking stock, We glanced at each other, the realisation quite a shock, I asked if we were related, the answer was "I hope not!!" So this was the day I finally found myself, it will stay with me forever, and never be forgot.

  • peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeekaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaachUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice Tampax Ad O_o

  • @RawVisualsVj that made me lol so much, i got an old spice ad, think i would have preferred the Tampax one to be honest..........at least it wasnt herpes cream :p

  • @CaraminTim: It's a dobro, actually.

  • No trollops, or tarts in this band.

No manufactured or branded teernie bands.

Just real musicians, who are genuinly in to their music.

It's incredible the reaction some people have to them.

  • if you like this, check out this guy called dan stock, he covered this song amazingly and has other brilliant videos! /watch?v=zuuegGsOFro

  • some things are difficult to get rid of

    like fucking ariel ads!

  • Jools Holland picked up where John Peel left off...

Musical appreciation, no matter where in the world it's being played..

If you haven't seen Jools in concert....GO

A great entertainer a great musician and reliable champion of new talent...

    Thank God For Jools Holland

  • Awesome cover of this song type in - "Castlecomer - The Cave" - i couldn't believe the harmonies i found!

  • o..m..g Winston you sexy man. I love the way he's like... humping, his guitar XD

  • @MakeItUpxx it's a banjo you nitwit

  • Rap is an element of hip hop. (One of four) Rap on the radio, if u call it rap, has absolutely nothing to do with hip hop. Btw things guys are artists in the truest sense.

  • :3

  • Winston soooo hottt </3

  • hahah the doctor who was in the add at the start is my friends dad

  • For an AMAZING cover of this song type in "The Cave Castlecomer" - some of the sweetest harmonies i have ever heard!

  • we're irish. honestly.

  • mumford and sons are impressive, but i hate to say they have nothing on fleet foxes

  • damn the lead singer sounds as good live as he does in the studio recordings.

  • @viper23666 thats cause mumford and sons if one of maybe 10 band in the world that doesnt use audio effects like auto-tune and stuff, dont get me wrong i love other bands too, but i respect mumford and sons the most for being real musicians and not having to use technology to make them sound good like all hip hop artists nowadays like t-pain and lil'wayne and them, i hate hip hop, rap and pop are ok but hip hop sucks

  • @viper23666 Really? He sounds like he's struggling to me. I like the sound of his voice but his range is small and he's pushing it to reach the high notes, which aren't actually that high. I wonder if it will let him down eventually as with liam gallagher and the dude out of hard-fi. Hope not.

  • @greyztone nahh he just had a bad throat in this :) if you listen to any other live performance you'll realise he's an amazing singer :)

  • @viper23666 thats how it is supposed to be my friend :)

  • fuck adverts and fuck ariel actilift

  • @INSM8 hahaha! My advert was for tampax pearl Lmao xD

  • @awsinger1 same! :'D

  • @TeriLovesHolister Hahaha! I watched a video with my boyfriend and that advert came on. Hahaha! His face xD

  • @INSM8 You're lucky. I got Tampax.

  • @INSM8 fuck you

  • ww.youtube.com/watch?v=i9c_nhBHj54

  • ww.youtube.com/watch?v=i9c_nhBHj54

  • does anyone else notice that everytime they play live they ahve a different animal sitting on the keyboard??? it was a cow in asheville where i saw them;)

  • Piano player at 2:40 really loves to fuck...

  • Best cover of this song I've seen..

Type 'the cave castlecomer' in your search bar.

    Blew my face off.

  • @bongolese87 it's well good

  • Everyone saying this is flat, please say you just watched their set at glastonbury

  • @StormedAssassin Their set was SO. DAMN. BEAUTIFUL, wasn't it?! I was crying all the way through, and I was only watching it on the TV. I watched that set about 3 more times since last night.

  • Awful. You can't hear the banjo. Singers are dead and the keyboardist is spasming. I love you Mumford & Sons. But this is utter crap. Especially compared to Bon Iver's performance here.

  • @dsarakas This is absolutely outstanding. Ben Lovett on the keyboard is getting into his music which they spent years working on. Hes made it to the big stage and is enjoying it. You havent got a clue mate and for the record, Marcus had a throat infection.

  • @dsarakas its because theres no big crowd. Mumford thrive of the crowd.

  • Ah! I came here to watch mumford and sons! Get that justin bieber ad outta here!

  • They're a good band but the live version isn't nearly as great as the studio work. Sorry Mumford!

  • @terriblelove1 I'm sure if you just watched their glastonbury set you'll be taking that back

  • @StormedAssassin Too bad I've watched it before and wasn't impressed.

  • this lacks the freedom and energy of the recorded track =(

  • ive have actually considered purchasing a banjo just so i can play along with this band in proper unison.

  • The things that Marcus' voice does to me. The passion in his voice is giving me an ear-gasam

  • Begs everyone stops arguing, not gunna lie.

  • @georgia1987davis 'you are vile, and so is your language'. nope. you are vile, and so is your language. I assume that dcigran is on this page because of the likes of you, and is fascinated, as I am, to discover why the fanbase of Mumford and Sons is so belligerent, conceited and altogether brash.

  • @ljlb2112 I feel like a lot of people who listen to the kind of modern folkie stuff by bands like Mumford and Sons and Fleet Foxes feel as if they've discovered some pure vein of music, an art form above pop music. The resulting exultation drives some of the hyperbole and snobbishness that can surround such bands. Mumford and Sons lyrics can lay it on a bit thick, but I like them well enough. A lot of the modern foklie stuff is pretty good, but I don't consider it much "higher" than Bieber.

  • @ dcigran you are vile, and so is your language. If you dont like the band...why are you on the page?!.....what a complete and utter asshole.

  • @PurpleGeezer i personallly cannt stand any dance/hiphop/trance music-my opinion im afraid. I feel this band represent true 'musical talent' , writing meaningful songs, playing different instruments, and performing as well as they sound on disc. Complain all you like, you will not change my mind. That is all.

  • @georgia1987davis you are very biggoted and clearly cannot appreciate music for what it is...

  • anyone else think they are a bunch of farmers?

  • I like some of the songs on this album, the only I don't really like about the album is how most of the songs sound the exact same.

  • How can anyone dislike this

  • lol at the epic keyboard player rocking out

  • @CakesnakeFilms ha, just bangin' away

  • @CakesnakeFilms i love ben (keyboard player) saw these at glastonbury they where yum!! xx

  • @boxerbbex :)

  • @CakesnakeFilms thankyou, i put my full effort into it!

  • @CakesnakeFilms he must be rollin

  • Also I'm a Mumford and Sons fan and 'I don't give a FUCK what you think', despite clearly taking issue at comments like, for example, this one.

  • Also I probably work for a failing law firm in London, am in my mid thirties and tweet regularly (in between filing for divorce from my shit wives).

  • I'm a Mumford and Sons fan, I'm so proud of my tenuous country heritage that I think I can relate to these lyrics, despite them being immensely vacuous and no more mature than a sixteen year-old Canadian pop singer's ('It's empty in the valley of your heart'. Nice.) I also fail to notice that the music I'm listening to is a slight development of 1950s American folk (but yah guys it's so cool because these guys are wearing waistcoats and skinny jeans). I suggest you tend to your 'fields of love'.

  • I think I speak on behalf of most of the people watching this video, plainly for the music, and not to compare to other styles of music or other artists, that is a truely brilliant video. Thanks for the post, made my night! Love this song.

    Graeme.

  • i dont think music should be compared, i love this kind of music i also love hip hop and things like that, i dont think people should judge eachother over what music they listen to because music is a way of self expression and i think that if we judge eachother by what music we listen too its just sad.

  • @dylanrichards95 Dont EVER compare mumford and sons with justin bieber ?

Mumford and sons = Fucking amazing

Justin bieber = Poofy bastard with a girls voice!

  • at the end of the day, its all very well saying they're not 'authentic' or 'proper music'. but if they're not who is? the fact is that millions of people love this music. that should be good enough for everyone. if you like dance music, justin bieber etc then listen to their music, not ruining this for fans of mumford and sons

  • Anyone the disagrees with Georgia should be shot

  • Love this band, but they sound SHOCKING here

  • 2:29 - crazy eyes :D

  • Please come to Canada Guysss !!!

  • US needs a jools holland

  • Used to like them. Thing they are irritating now.

start quiet, build build build BUILD!!!! breakdown...build to finish. ---great.

  • @HaroldEarlMusic song- starts, ends- great

  • @tiktokz1 what's your point?

  • omfg his voice sounds awful there!! is that really marcus mumford that is singing in that video?? coz the marcus mumford i know has an AMAZING voice not a terrible one like this!! :'(

  • Is it just me or is the balance in this a bit off? The performance is great as always, but the backing vocals and piano are really loud and you can barely hear the banjo. Anyhow, can't wait to see them in Hyde park!

  • Beautiful

  • @ladyali100 ha ha thanks i agree !!! they speak to like im an idiot !! but yes i do agree with you ;)

  • sorry but that sounded fucking crap !

  • what ever happened to people enjoying music for what it is..entertainment.. i mean all this crap about people being better and worse..whats the point.. you listen to the music you like thats it

  • the only advert i will never skip, Bon Iver you beautiful man x

  • @KittyKranker I can't believe YOU'RE sad enough to pick up on that! good luck to you mate, YOU'RE obviously a a genius

  • Perfect...

  • I think the piano player is humping his piano at 2:49

  • they are great and make great music, there is just a very slight underlying douchebaggyness to them, which isnt super mega

  • sorry but anyone going on about this being original and announcing it as every superlative under the sun needs to listen to Fleet Foxes and more importantly Bob Dylan etc... makes me laugh how fickle you all are... as far as im concerned your on a level with those who listen to Justin Bieber....

  • @BertiBee

Sorry, I have not yet heard anything from Fleet Foxes that has even inspired me to finish listening to the song and Bob played the WORST live show I have ever seen (Alpine Valley some time back in the early 2000s)

I listen to what I like. The rest of it be damned. Call someone fickle for stating their opinion on a worthy band, what really spurned your comment? Jealousy? Elitism? Maybe M&S is not the most original idea certainly not the first to rock out some folk tunes. Meh.

  • @Thegbbishop i wasn't calling anyone fickle for liking the band, i was listening to this out of curiosity sparked by gushing praise, I think these lot are talented and write some decent stuff, but i think people calling it original are simply naive. I'm more jealous of the talent possessed by Dylan and Fleet foxes than mumford and sons... and we all know Dylan hasnt always been the best live.... it's the songs we're after, either way, have a good one!

  • Hyde Park. 30th of June. Yas :o)

  • commercials suck ,,,,,,,I bought your fuckin cd and i love it ,, make your money like you want...but dont fuckin put things i dont want to see in my freakin face

  • commercials suck ,,,,,,,

  • 20 people don't understand real music when they hear it.

  • Gah! I remember watching this, being crazy excited for the Mumford & Sons set, but the jazz guy before them just wouldn't stop playing! Jules kept signalling them to stop and they wouldn't, so they only had time for a song and a half! Bah.

  • isnt it unbelievable how we are all being watched by aliens every day? I caught one and asked why are you spying on us and was told that we are worth a lot of money but only for our ears the rest of us is worthless. So I gave him my ears so I could carry on living. I live in a cave like this band, who also have beautiful ears, dont you think?

  • OMG i'm seeing them June 12th!!I'm so excited!!

  • 2:47

  • That's what's great about music ... two people listen to the same piece and hear two different things! Mumford tick everything for me and until I saw this debate I hadn't even noticed how they dressed! To be honest I doubt I could pick any of them out in an ID parade but I would know their sound anywhere.

  • Top work chaps!

  • mumford and sons - PLEASE COME TO CHILE !!!!

  • love this song but the meening is pretty dark lol love it tho

  • you dont have to be from the woods to dress like a logger lol sean you are wrong they dress how they like not every1 in a city dresses like it, thats closed minded to think of if they werent about theyr music we wouldnt be listenin to them would it make it n e different sounding music if they dressed differently, nope

  • Each to their own love......I think they are absolutely brilliant, their songs have meaning! Country/Folk music is a Genre ive been into since i was 12 years old! Why do you have to be nasty 'Sean' ? I stated my opinion....if you dont like the music or the band, why the fuck are you viewing the clip or evn on the page? 'Fool' *saying 'what a twat' as writing this*

  • the cameraman tripped over at 1:38 LOLLLLL

  • Heard so much about this but it's not as good as I had imagined - better than most stuff in the charts but more about that rustic image and using some cliched folk that most people who don't normally listen to folk won't recognise. It's fine - not an assault on the ears, quite a nice song, just far from anything really special. Hopefully they'll open a gateway to some more "out there" bands.

  • This band are the definition of proper music- They write their own music, play it live, and their songs have meaning-unlike all the shit like justin bieber/bruno mars who just sing anything that ryhmes! Mumford and Sons have such an edgy/rustic feel to their music, and i frikkin love it! I think all hip hop/dance/trance should be banned! anyone can TALK about sex/drugs/women over a shitty beat! or put a tune together on a computer..........The video above is MUSIC!

  • @georgia1987davis so you think they're more about the music than an image? are you crazy? they're from london. a CITY. and dress up like they're from a farm. they're defffffffo more about the image. and they suck anyway. how can YOU say this is music and everything else isn't? just because they play instruments that look weird that makes them unique? you want to ban whole genres.... you're a close-minded fooooool...

  • @georgia1987davis I'd say that this is on a par with the music that you have mentioned. It's good, but essentially pop disguised as folk.

  • @georgia1987davis LOL dude it's just a pop take on folk music. I like it, but seriously, there is so much better music being made and that has been made. And on the topic of the vid, they can't sing for shit live LOL. WTF is up with the 'harmonies'? Well, they just aren't hah hah hah.

  • @TheModCon sorry , are you talking about this ? because it is amazing no this isnt there best live if you search through youtube and find them singing in small venues there amazzing its so intense ! so dont talk down on them .

  • @hanaxcb If the singing in this video is as bad as it is, then no they obviously aren't the best live. LOL and please learn to spell and use punctuation before you try and discuss something :)

  • @TheModCon im not an idiot i just sayed up untill two in the morning . so please dont speak to me like im an imbecile if you enjoy spending your time correcting childrens spelling mistakes then be my guest but leave the rest of the world to listen to this amazing badn and i only spelt like 3 words wrong and thats because it was 2.am yeeeeeeesh !!!! and no , im not going to correct the spelling mistakes in this because i dont give a rats arse what you think about my clumsy typing !!!

  • @hanaxcb Lol you're deluded if you think the 'rest of the world' are listening to this band. And seriously mate, I don't have to treat you like an imbecile. You make yourself look one on your own :) I don't have to do anything to further enforce that. Luls ^^

  • @TheModCon well continue having fun correcting spelling mistakes ! :)
