First of all: You can hear the breathing (to prepare for the next phrase or whatever). Secondly the scratchiness of the voice is an indication that that is not an album version playing over. Thirdly at 3:48 you can clearly tell she was singing that part because on the album the tone at that point is a LITERAL whistle note and not a middle voice high note.
@ANGELAGUMILET The sound produced is not struggling or pushing at all. It's clearly well-placed and resonantly powerful. MC usually uses gestures and hand-tic things for whatever she sings and it'll be completely a mess thing when she is so into the song she is performing. Her struggle is generally shown when she stands still to maintain focus on each notes. IMO, if she moves while performing, she is quite comfortable to sing.
I normally hate to say that she's lip synching but if you listening at 3:28 at the "Giving me hope" part there is a whistle while she belts the part. Here you can hear the whistle while she belts and in other performances that's not there (or she did the whistle instead). Still an amazing song and performance! <3

It would be heaven for her to perform this again. I dont know if she would, on a good day i have no doubt she could sing it, but i dont think she has the confidence in her voice like she used to, and that also effects vocals
either way, her live performances of this are some of the best she has ever done.

if its mimed still its her voice!!! in the studio she has rested a lot more than after doing an album..coz theres a lot of interviews,shows and many extra curicular activities or somthing to promote her album.. my god!! she sleeps 2 hours in a day working and working.. regine? she needs to have a full vocal rest to save her career!!!

i love mariah so much particurlarly her live performances she is the greatest... i know her live performances quite well and to be honest i think that the whole end climax of this song was all totally mimed... if you notice there are no close up camera shots of her.... she turns to the side rather then at the audience probably cause she knows they wont be able to hear her and she's always just a fraction more 'posey' when she's miming.... thoughts????
