Wonderful!!! What do you use to make the fine lines such as the hand outlines? It looked like oil pastel, but I couldn't tell...Beautiful colors and forms!
I love watching artist in their process of creating a work (painting,composing,...). Did you improvised during painting too or did you have a plan in your mind?
@alex2east no plan really, for this one. i tried to not think too much and just move fast. my later paintings i plan more because the figure is important ,but i am able to keep that energy and spontanaiety in the foundation process, but still have some structure.
Good painting but I would not call it an abstract expressionist work as such. You started Abstract Ex but then the work turned figurative. I would not use such a label to describe this unique work.
just prints of these should be 150. your very good. this original would be 1500 and up in the right group of people. im not an apraiser but i frame art everyday. this is gorgous!
@mojojojo671thanks for the question, its a good one... i guess , for me , its if there's more emphasis on the subjective experience/emotion from the artist, rather than a realistic objective representation. also if its left raw (not perfect and finished) and done fast , the marks have a vitality that can come more from the subconsious and bypass ordinary and familiar depictions. sorry if thats confusing - im better with images than words....
@mojojojo671 in the book "Hans Hofmann, the museum of modern art new york" by William c Seitz, Hofmann explains how abstract shapes relate to what it is supposed to represent. He seemed to have it down to a science as far as why things he represents in his work are what they are. it might help, just a thought. his stuff is priceless
@chunkylover214 i was once told between $500- $1000, for this size(120 x 90cm.)and without a name. in shops ive have hung for around $1000, but im finding the market is tight( not selling at that price much), so now i sell quite low just so its a price that people feel its a real bargain ($150) and that way i feel supported as an artist, as my work sells quite quickly. hope this helps....
@JobAbednego thanks for your feedback....and i know its crazy ,but its the difference between it sitting on a wall with a lable of $500, (and not selling ), or selling at $150 which covers cost and more, and is incentive to keep painting..... its a buyers market.
That was absolutely awesome. I love, love, love it. Thank you so much. Totally inspirational to me. Love the colors and everything else about it. I want to get just as bold as your colors. BEAUTIFUL. My 13 year old daughter loved it as well. She couldn't stop commenting on how KOOL is your painting. It inspired her as well. Thank you.
I'm just getting into expressionism and your video was really inspirational! Do you just go straight in or have in your head an idea of what the finished picture will look like?
@stevietaylor01 just a general idea of where the forms might be (position of head ,body, 1-2 figures..etc), then after backgrounds done, i look around for model pics that would fit the shape and mood.
This is such a cool process! I love how thought out your placements of color and pattern are. I need to do a watercolor abstract expressionist painting for a class in high school and I wish it wasn't watercolor, I love bold colors and design like what you do! Great Job! You're really talented
REALLY superb, Nicole. Great technique. Thanks for making this clip.

@Nicolehoschke At 150 I wouldn't even be breaking even with supplies and time.... I'd just give it away at that point
sn0wgurl 6 months ago
@Nicolehoschke What? $150?! Well, that's an under-pricing for a beautiful work. Stick to $500-$1000.
