So me and some friends and thinking about creating a band, and I have written some decent songs, but anyways... We used to have a bass guitarist, but he bought a skate board instead, and I am very interesting in playing Bass, and Drums. I dont know which one I want to play. Which would you suggest? Im thinking I just want to get a Bass because its cheaper. And that Violin Bass is amazing :).
Dude, you learned all these songs by ear?! Amazing. Yrs ago I played bass by ear, but never learned the Beatles like this. I would suggest you lay the bottom of your palm against the strings since it looks like youre plucking rather than cutting down on strings. Would look like Paul plays and thats how I played. Regardless, you are INCREDIBLE bro.
it's personal preference, it's not wrong to use a pick. but usually not using a pick gives you more of a rich deeper sound, where the pick gives you more of a heavy attack like strike. I use both. best to be versitile.
@mikelee8873 YOU get a different sound with a pick. More trebly. Using a pick on a Hofner Violin bass is easier as the neck is narrow and the strings a closer together - more like a guitar
Well done !!!! You've shown everyone how wonderful Paul McCartney's bass line is. You've done a service to Beatles fans. I love the work of Jun626 also..do you know his work ? You should both get together...haha....Great job !!!
waaooo... nice way to play bass... im impressed.. thanks for upload those videos. so we can learn a little how to play beatles songs... great for you (: congratulations again

out of curiousity, why do some bass players do it without picks (or plectrum) while others play it with picks? personal preference?
