  • @biggestplanefan Sucks that you're moving though :(

  • What makes this piece so much better is that Hazo can write such a beautiful meaning tune, yet many of his other songs take on a completely different character, like Ride. Amazing composer.

  • I'm a junior in high school and I play the oboe ( the one and only of the whole band, haha ) We're playing this piece for our March concert, and I'm so excited to perform it. It's a beautiful piece and I really hope the audience enjoys it just as much as I do!

  • Beautiful. i wonder i can talk my director into playing it this year...

  • Flute is beastly on this.♥

  • Played this in 10th grade, I was 1st trumpet. I could not get that high note at the end. I tried and tried, just couldn't do it. We get to champs, I gave it all I had. I hit it and it sounded beautiful. We didn't win. But I was happy. Bitter sweet I guess

  • played it in 8th grade, made our instructor cry ;)

  • @mrjli eisonhower junior high?

  • @IBBlasian err nope

  • ah, solas ane

  • This is such a beautiful song, and has so much heart. My band played it just this past year when our band director sadly lost his life to cancer. He was the most inspirational man I have ever met.

  • @GleekFreakization It is a beautiful song and I too am also going to play it soon. I look forward to it now. :)

  • @GleekFreakization I know right? And your band director sounds like a great guy... May he live on in the music~

  • I love it!! We played it in band last year

  • played this my junior year in High School, the tuba part is just BEAUTIFUL

  • hey, nick, if ur reading this (which ur probably not) u may think this is boring, but its an amazing flute song. u trumpets get ALL the kool parts on pretty much every song. (im bored...again.....can u tell?)

  • this peice is pure emotion, love, happines and sorrwo

  • @masterofhi50 agreed :) for band we play one of his songs for almost every concert and now we're playing this for our next three!

  • this is BEAUTIFUL. <3 he is my favorite composer.<3

  • Hazo is my favorite composer, all of his songs sound so good with great melody and get heavy when needed. I performed this last year, easily one of the years best songs

  • We played this for Band. I got the awesome percussion part, loved it!

  • @2:00 was probably the funnest part of the song.. And the grace notes for the lower winds are fun and cool sounding

  • @TheaterGeek7777776... We played this at Mpa and Got Straight Superiors and on Sightreading... And on The competition we did at disney world in florida.. We placed 1st... And Btw you would do just fine

  • LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song

  • @apachexcat yup :) isnt it amazing! i just love it soooo much <3 (im pretty shure i have it all memorized by now. just like the bandgeek i am) im so excited because - if you read my other comments - im playing the piccolo part for mpa next year ! :) ! im kinda scared though cuz its a solo (what if i mess it all up :( ?) we played Novo Lenio earlier this year.

  • does anyone think of lord of the rings or the elder scrolls oblivion when you hear the opening

  • if only I could marry music -333

  • Played Piccolo in this! Had the Solo(: Part Was Ahmazing And the Funny Thing About it was my sister played the bassoon part and my Brother played the bass clarinet Part.! Also Cuzzin Played 1st Trumpt...soooo you know my Mother And Father was Proud Cause we Placed 1st!! -Tears

  • @Diva352Swagg im playing the piccolo part next year (probably for mpa) wish me luck :)

  • Mr. Hazo sir, i just returned from a concert performed by my alma mater and they performed your composition "Go" and i must say your music is without a doubt some of the most inspiring works of art I have heard!!

  • I shal dare to say it again : Mr. Hazo, you are a Genius!!!

  • beautiful song(: we are playing this in my band, and its is wow!

  • just took this song to state in Florida, !!! amazing song, im a flute so i LOVE playing it :)

  • @feisly me too. isnt it a lot of fun?

  • the most beautifull song ever!!!!!

  • were about to take this to state band festival and this song is absolutly amazing i would definitly reccomend it to any band with strong woodwinds

  • Almost all Hazo music emphasizes flute, bassoon and horn. It's a great combination that he utilizes very well. This fact and the fact that he can put his personal stamp on just about any kind of music makes him so much fun to play and a real treat to listen to.

  • the drums in this song make me wanna rape and pillage.

  • @TheCanchola2 I hope you meant that in a good way, because then I'd be inclined to agree with you.

  • @TheCanchola2 Lolol.

  • 3:13 fav part

  • lmao!!! only one person disliked the song!!!

  • Samuel Hazo is brilliant.

  • Magnifique !

    Merci !

  • we played this in regions for PMEA.

I had the honor of playing piccolo, now I get extremely sentimental when I listen to this.

    Gorgeous song :)

  • We get to play this sone to honor our seniors this year. Its a very beautiful piece. LOVE the horn part we get to play :)

  • The French Horn part for this is amazing, but the first flute part is extremely hard

  • @Tootalltman not for some people (talking about flute part)

  • @TheaterGeek7777776 ya it is considering I know the flute part and to master it without any brakes is hard to accomplish. (no disrespect intended)

  • @Tootalltman im sorry if i offended anyone by saying it was easy. my point was that once you learn it its really fun to play and its all that difficult i suppose it all depends on how you practice. but i found that after listening to it for an hour ot two despretly waiting for my teacher to pass it out to the band it want that hard. (it also may have helped that i played the piccolo part up an octave)i know it by memory and i'll randomly burst out into playing it in the band room. plz forgive ;(

  • @TheaterGeek7777776 oh no you didn't offend me :) And trust me I loved playing this song. Sorry I think the way I worded it was confusing. Sorry :). However we both agree it is a great song :)

  • @Tootalltman absolutelly :) and, thats ok, i just wanted to make shure u knew what i meant..........but now im not even really shure what i meant....... so, all is good :) and this song IS AMAZING

  • @TheaterGeek7777776 technically this piece isnt that hard agreed...but the difficulty lies within the musicality...sure the band can play the black ink, but its what you pull out of that black ink...what you make the piece as a band that makes this piece difficult...One of the many things that make music so amazing.

  • @thisandthat93 very true, at the moment i dont even remember what i was thinking when i commented that, but im shure i had a legit reason. but i absolutedly agree with that :)

  • lawl i love the bassoon part, currently playing this song for Band Extravaganza , and it totally reminds me of Shrek .

  • The bassoon part for this song is absolutely amazing. I'm playing this piece in my high school band. Last year we got straight I's at festival for playing Hazo's Arabesque. Hazo is definitely one of my favorite composers. :)

  • the first thing i thought was pochahantos

  • were playing this song at my school. i love this song so much. it's so beautiful.

  • That 1 guy, who dislikes everything, you sneaky sneay youtuber....

  • 2:00 = EPIC

  • @The2Uhhhhhhhhhh Oh I know!!! It gives me goosebumps everytime! I played this in band 3 years ago and I can still play it! I memorized it like a nerd! lol

  • @omlee26 i've only memorized Arabesque.

  • i wish i could play this for solo and ensemble. i love ot soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!

  • lol the bass trombone part for this song is so hard

  • we almost played this for MPA. i was soooo upset when we diddnt get to. Mr. Hazo is a genious

  • We sight-read this in band and are hopefully playing it at our concert.(: It's so pretty! I have to play the piccolo solo in the beginning!! Yay! For posting this song!

  • @jdstewart7195 I was @ that concert man! In fact, I played in the tuba section and I agree this piece sounded so boss

  • my favorite piece! loved playing my french horn part

  • PMEA Region VI Band played this at their festival today, good stuff!

  • I know it doesn't really mean much to anyone else, but this song is what I associate with my now late band director. It's beautiful and musical despite it's simplicity. Every time I hear it there is a feeling of sadness but also joy. It makes me think of my band director and how his legacy and love of music lives in us. Hazo's amazing, can't deny it.

  • @Kitsoa Are you a fellow Lindbergh Band member? Because this song makes me think of my recently deceased band director too... I've listened to it a number of times since his passing.

  • @tsaxist Yes I am, sorry for the late reply: Andrea Lair speaking.

  • OMG REMINDS ME OF LAST YEAR!!! we played this last year, and since there was no bass clarinet my teacher made me switch from solo clarinet to bass clarinet!!! had fun playing this beautiful piece from mr. Hazo!!!

  • I play trumpet and even though it's slow and easy, it's really fun to hear and play.

  • I can't even imagine writing something this good. Samuel Hazo is AMAZING. We are playing Southern Hymn in band (one of my favorites; tied with this) and we are playing the Georgian Suite in Symphonic Bands. Beautiful.

  • Fantastic piece.

  • My school band played this 3 years ago. Their recording is the best I have ever heard.

  • My school band played this...pretty cool

  • I love this song I can listen to it over and over and never get bored <3

  • We scored a 95 out of 100 on this song at a competition, and one of the judges, who hadn't heard this song told us he was so swayed by this song. ^_^

  • I LOVE SAMUEL HAZO!

    Hes AMAZING!

I wanna play this in my band!

  • @MannyC2013 We are playing this in Wind Ensemble. First Trumpet :) We Are also play Arabesque. Check that song out. and Dance #1.

  • I LOVE SAMUEL HAZO!

  • I LOVE SAMUEL HAZO!

  • why would you dislike????

  • why would you dislike????

  • I agree with @xiaolongnu37 Sure, my friends and I may playfully fight over who's instrument is better... but it's just a game to play when we're bored... there's no substance to it. ... there isn't any "most important instrument." Each instrument is part of the band, and whether they have the melody or a supporting line they are still all equally as important.

  • You guys are all silly. There is no "most important instrument" in a band. Take out any of them and it just sounds wrong. Stop arguing and, and genelleynelle said, just enjoy the music. :)

  • whoa. i just noticed the pictures actually change. *facepalm*

  • your comments ruined the song!

    sheesh lol.

stop fighting && just ENJOY THE MUSIC.

  • Currently have this as one of my pieces for my band

  • i loved playing this song, and the double reeds and french horn parts are so pretty, i wish this was on itunes. this is a great irish song, even though its not written by an irishman

  • the trumpets vibratois great

  • Whoever disliked this video has no soul. Must be a ginger.

  • maybe in some cases but not when theres an oboe involved like when the oboe player tells u to move over u move over we're just that important no one els is just us there would be no band, orchestra, pit orchestra, or wind quintet with out us we make the ensemble just like when we tune it. If there is no oboe... boring... no color

  • French horns and oboes are both fantastic but we all know who's really the most important instrument here. That would be the contra alto bass clarinet.

  • @TrebleBassLife i like the instrument its cool but its just not important like the oboe

  • @TrebleBassLife All the oboe plays I know are annoying and obnoxious. Just so ya know.

  • @somonoi for your info most oboe PLAYERS are not annoying and obnoxious we are the complete opposite shy, caring and very goody two shoes. but not me so much but thats only because i play 8 different instruments one of them being oboe

  • @TrebleBassLife I take it you are a contra alto bass clarinet?? Well, I think that piccolo is *one* of the most important parts.

  • @SouthSideChics08 Yes, I play piccolo also :) It's an awesome little instrument.

  • @SouthSideChics08 i play piccolo, flute, oboe, english horn, clarinet, bass guitar, piano, and i sing and compose at a level six with over 95 in grading so i think i would know what instrument is the most important. trust me its not the piccolo

  • @12401cjl Wow and being a stuck up bitch would make you a level 7 I suppose. Yeah, no shit it's not the most important, I said it was one. Every instrument is important, but that doesn't mean you have to be an asshole.

  • @SouthSideChics08 im not an ahole i just like making people mad and i guess i was successful in doing so with you, but you didn't have to bring that foul language into this it show's none musicianship on your part if your a musician act like one pluse if im a level 7 in being a stuck up b**** then i think your the person who invented the trade

  • @12401cjl I think you are the one that shows no "musicianship". You come in here and act like your shit doesn't stink (pardon my french) and prance around saying things, so if you can't handle it, don't dish it out. Also, another note, musicianship is not being nice to one another. It is being passionate about music and not caring what part you have or which is the most important. Alsom you spelled "plus" wrong. Just thought you would like to know. And, everyone swears, grow up.

  • @SouthSideChics08 and you spelled "also" wrong don't try to roast if you cant do it well PLUS my s*** dosen't stink and no every one dosen't swear Im 18 if I wanted to swear I could but its not proper to do so if you were a real musician you would be around people who wouldn't swear most of the day. and trust me i have lost of passion thats why I do all that I do.

  • Im an oboe player and of coarse we're the most important instrument in any ensemble so the the best part is always the oboes, it sucks to be some one who isn't an oboe player lol

  • @12401cjl Nope, french horns are better

  • The best part of the song is obviously the french horns!

  • haha we are currently playing this in my band class. I'm the only bass clarinet which means a million bass solos for me! :)

  • I played clarinet three on this beautiful piece of music. It's probably one of my favorite pieces played, ever. I almost got to meet Samuel Hazo at the Midwest clinic, but just missed him :(

  • Played this song at V Tech Honor Band Weekend. The percussion parts are fun for a concert piece but the song as a whole is beautiful. One of my favorites

  • I just played it for All City High School band. I'm a 9th grader and got the oboe part in the quartet at the beginning. :D We had about 7 hours to learn it.

  • I guess that one person who disliked this beautiful song works for Apple and deals with iTunes since this amazing song isn't on there.

    .... they should fix that.

  • @nala1221996 Your junior high band played this? You guys must have been REALLY good, this is like a grade 3!

  • @Danieatsairplanes yeah....i really loved our band. we would travel all around the US each year and compete against high schools. since we were actually in a differnt group we still got to compare our scores with the high schools' and they were usually higher :)) i miss that bandd :(((

  • Hell yeah bro playing this so my band can go and perform at Disney Studios and I have that ORGASMIC CONCERT TENOR PART!!!!!!!

  • I am playing this song for all state it's so cool but it's not the most fun a percusionist can have in concert band especially if your conductor's main instrument is percussion haha

  • I played this in my high school am i proud to say i was the solo oboist for this song. I love it sooo much

  • Most fun a percussionist will ever have during concert band, trust me :D

  • @soccerskills06 i know right, the floor tom part is siick

  • @soccerskills06 john mackey. nuff said
