OMG you know what?! Mao should use the triple LOOP jump in her short program to replace her "lutz" jump. It makes sense considering she gets heavy deductions from her flutzing, so that is 6-2=4 points she gets for the lutz. If she did a loop jump (which she does SO perfectly) she will get 5+GOE on that jump (better than 4 pts. if she did the lutz.) That would actually be a smart decision to do in her SP's.
Fixing the lutz will be more beneficial for her. If she did 3L instead of 3Lz, she would have to give up the 3F-3L combination, because in SP a triple jump can't be repeated (unless in the same combination, like 3T-3T). 3L-3L and 3F would work better, but she would risk getting undermarked by judges because of not high enough difficulty.
