@mgtkr1 The engine does produce 160bhp (this one was actually dyno'd at 176.2bhp around a year ago). The 8v GTi is around 120-130bhp depending on spec which might be what you're getting confused with.

Awesome cars! I had a bright silver one which I chavved up a bit by sticking 16" TSWs on & rally inspired front fog lights, K&N 57i kit & sebring exhaust. Stonking performance & incredible handling....really miss that car.
I have a BX to, and it drives always, never problems with the suspension, if you do good service. Great cars to drive, and i love the breaks!! you only touch them a little and it stops!!! not like other cars where you have to wait befor something happends.
Best car Citroen ever made, sure there were prettier, more iconic Cits, but for everyday use, unbeatable. Made Sierras, Cavaliers and especially Montegos look stupid. Penny Mallory does not have a clue, the styling is up there with the best 80's cars (Delta Integrale etc) The red 16v makes me want another BX. BTW I've had four, the suspension never went wrong, nor did much else.

Get one now, as those in the know will be snapping them up and those who haven't got a clue will be scrapping them.
Same engine as a 205 - but lighter body - goes like stink. I love my BX 14, and would love to run her over in it. My boyfriend was hit in a terrible motorway accident FIVE TIMES by a juggernaut. He got out without a bruise or scratch to have a good shout at the juggernaut driver! Try cornering at 40 in a 205 ;-)
The guy was wasting his time. You stupid, clueless woman. This design is pushing 25 years old - look at the opposition from those days - the BX could wipe the floor with most of them.

I have (currently) a whole heap of Citroens, DS, GS, XM's (and the Deuche).I know hydraulics. I never had problems on those.
But the BX I had (early 1600) suffered from high pressure hydraulic blow outs. 3 times. New pipes each time- properly secured.
And mine wasn't the only one that it has happened to.
There can be an issue with some.
