  • drink some coffee next time before you do a film analysis

  • wow some of you yanks really think that the american accent is default don't ye. we have to listen to ye in everything so you can listen to an accent from across the atlantic for a few minutes without complaining. idiots.

  • I may be wrong, but it is my understanding that the use of the name 'jack' is an analogy, as he reads in his previous homeowner's poems written in first person of someone by the name of 'jack's body parts, he re-uses it as his own poems later in the film, this time relating to his life so i dont think its his name. In popular culture and use by fan cult followings i believe edward nortans character is referred to as the narrator. and i think this was then later changed to his name on imdb also.

  • @AMinuteWithWatt I agree in the book edwards nortons characters name is never established but on the back of the limited edition DVD case it clearly states that Edward Norton stars as "JACK". I understand peoples frustration but as this is an analysis of the film it would be wrong for me to be influenced by the book

  • I am an American, and I think this guy's accent is awesome. Too bad my country has so many ignorant fucktards.

  • @19Wylds95 Okay that may be true, but he dies. Read the book.

  • @tsm767 he does not die in the book. hes in a mental health facility. read the details when he is describing "God"

  • that aint no scottish accent.

  • JAAAACCCHHHHH

  • this scottish voice makes it impossilbe to hear the rest

  • @MrNunesProductions That's not Scottish...

  • whao! usually males do not understand the symbolic concept of this movie; it's usually all about the FIGHT in Fight Club.

  • love your accent man! Jahhhhk lol

  • i have the book and he never even thinks his name, and always gives fake ones. and jack is when he read that magazine about the body parts taking about emselves n 3rd person and so he started using that

  • fuck! iv seen this movie twice, i can honestly say i've never noticed the flashes...

  • I've been everywhere on the Internet and still no one knows the answer to this question. Does anyone know what's the name of the song with the string section on the scene when he's talking about getting addicted to support groups?

  • I don't know if I'm right, but i think "Edward Norton"s name in the movie is Cornelius. Just rewind to the beginning of the movie. The therapie group when he meets Bob the first time. Isn't there a little piece of paper which is on the shirt of him. And i can read Cornelius. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

  • @Noobds12 there is certainly the arguement that his real name is cornelius because he may have given his real name in the first support group and once he became addicted to them he is forced to create new names. Sadly the name written on his sticker isnt proof but it does bring Cornelius into the arguement along with jack, tyler, rupert etc

  • @bluegrinder84 no the name tags are fake. they're just names from planet of the apes.

  • @Noobds12 no the name tags are fake. they're just names from planet of the apes.

  • at the end of the movie when jack shoots himself, he really dies and imagines those last few minutes. I swear.

  • @tsm767 no, the bullet travels through a part in your mouth where this a 5% percent chanceif you shott yourself in the mouth. Out your cheek, this can just randomly happento people trying to kill themselves

  • @HomeDistiller However in the film it is.. and thats what we're talking about.

  • @e8tballz Actually, the narrators name IS Jack, if you look on the back of the dvd case it says "Norton stars as Jack, a chronic insomniac.." Also, on the commentary Norton says, and this is just reworded as I can't remember the exact, "Fans started calling him Jack, and he does say its used in the first person articles. When hes talking to himself saying "I am Jacks inflamed sense of rejection"" They gave the character the name Jack for the sake of giving him a name, even though its never used

  • @jackinaboxable not if you read the book on which the film is based its not

  • @jackinaboxable I don't think he was named Jack, he would say things like I am Jack's wasted w.e... He wouldn't call himself Jack. Now on the case, idk about that, but i do know that he was reading some magazine that talks about Jack.

  • american accents are for cu**s

  • @yahion

go fuck yourself your dirty whore mother

  • sounds like you are holding your nose while speaking

  • pig disgusting pork accent

  • narrator sounds dutch! :D

  • HIS NAME IS NOT JACK! Jack is one of the diseases names in the children's books they find at the house.

  • Big Up the Scoucer. Bradforddd!!!

  • GOOD VID

  • As an American, I'd like to say to those who are complaining about his accent...SHUT THE FUCK UP. Don't you realize that most of the world thinks AMERICANS have the stupid accents? Instead of whining about his perfectly normal accent, how about digging your heads out of your asses and LEARN TO LISTEN. It's an accent, not a foreign language, and while the analysis didn't do much for me, his voice was NOT the problem.

  • Rough accent. Could you throw this dog a cc?

  • nice accent :)

  • Very interesting. I never saw it that way. Thanks, your work is really appreciated!

p.S.: I'm german, english is my fourth language and I have no problems with the accent. Stop complaining.

  • Nice accent, but it made it kind of hard to understand

  • his names cornelius not jack

  • @videoviewingguy that'd just one of the name he uses when he goes to the support groups.

  • Comment removed

  • are you scottish? you're "k's" are very phlegmy.

  • @Teutonic1250 He will have no trouble pronouncing Achmed the Dead Terrorist's name.

  • @Teutonic1250 he sounds like hes from one of the outskirts of liverpool

  • Good analysis! I enjoyed it very much.

  • @Evanikus123 oxymoron

  • @ubernerd35 theres no such thing as american

  • @ubernerd35 its that type of american thinking that fight club is against

  • @bluegrinder84 LOL! good one!

  • @bluegrinder84 I am an American and I am not ignorant like that.

  • @lkfjdlkfjsdlkjflskdj an individual american can may not be but collectively americans can be very ignorant. Another issue fight club is against

  • @ubernerd35 Your not funny and possibly a piece of shit?

  • His name is NOT JACK!!! damn...

  • hahha scouse!

  • Everyone's breaking the first rule of fight club!

  • @dafuksup you're such a retard, thanks for ruining shutter island you complete knob, funnily enough i've seen fight club hence why i'm watching the analysis, i'm not as stupid as you to watch the analysis before watching the film so don't take it out on bluegrinder84 because you're the one who's cocked up. twat.

  • @RhysyTomTom Couldn't have put it better myself!

  • @RhysyTomTom good im glad i ruined it for you ya fuckin dickhead, because now you now how i feel !

  • thanks for ruining the ending you asshole!

  • @dafuksup hahahahahahha if you havent seen the film why the fuck do you wanna watch an analysis of it?????

  • @bluegrinder84 i was lookingf for the movie on here and this video came up, think before you start ruining it for everyone!

  • @dafuksup hahahahahahahahaha what a dumbass!!! 1 - how retarded do you have to be to realise its not the film? and 2 - Buy the film like a normal person you cheap dickhead

  • @bluegrinder84 actually i already own and have seen the film before, but i havent seen it in a long time and forgot the ending you asshole. you realize that youre ruining it for everyone right or are you just too big of a fuckin needledick to care? hey guess what happens in shutter island? the guy is crazy and a mental patient.. yeah i ruined that for you how does it feel bitch?

  • @dafuksup it doesnt really feel that bad because ive already seen it. In future i probably needed to take into consideration there are retards like you watching videos

  • @bluegrinder84 so im a retard because i havent watched this movie in a while? good logic, dumbass. in the future maybe you should think before you run your mouth.

  • @dafuksup hahaha u know exactly what i mean. u just wana try and make me look stupid. but cos ur a retard ill have to tell you. your a retard cos you watch a video called fight club film analysis and think its the whole film. retard retard retard

  • @bluegrinder84 no youre the retard for ruining endings to good movies

  • @dafuksup i have rid myself of all responsibility to the ending being runed by naing the video "fight club - film analysis" if youre too retarded to look at this and realise its not the film then its all down to you. good luck watching anything else cos ur gunna need it

  • @bluegrinder84 shut up idiot youre so dumb you just keep saying the same thing over and over again...you realized you fucked up, so admit it and move on with your life bitch boy.

  • @bluegrinder84 Well, if you're like me and have a psychology paper due tomorrow morning on a film you haven't seen in 5 years, then this is pretty fucking handy.

  • great review. I never thought that when Jack sees Tyler for the first time in the airport, that it could be just some cool looking guy who's image Jack borrowed to create his alter ego. This makes me appreciate movie even more

  • its basically the great gatsby

  • If I were to use Freudian theory to analyse this film, i would argue that Tyler was the Id, Jack is the Ego and Marla is the Super-ego, meaning that they are all the same person. Marla never becomes the dominant personality, but is never shown with Tyler the Id. So in the subconcious iceberg, the Id is submerged with a fraction of the ego and part of the ego is above water with the Super-ego. Marla is the whistle blower for the ego, taking a sense of authority or being the moral policeman?

  • @afribeanne I DIDN'T THINK OF IT THAT WAY! You just blew my mind lol

  • I am Jack's attempt to express his views in a comment.

  • This is great and very helpful for the paper I'm about to write. Thanks!

  • What accent is that anyway? Are you German? very nice video and what I found awesome was when Jack saw Tyler on TV when he went at the hotel room. lol.

  • @alexman378 LMAO! He's from a part of the United Kingdom known as the realm of the Scousers, you might know it as Liverpool.... But indeed, it does sound so strange/foreign, that one may even mistake it for being German... I, myself, are from that region, but after years of working abroad I adopted a more neutral standard received pronunciation English, due to the fact that my accent would otherwise by uncomprehendable to foreigners.

  • Excellent analysis. You caught several subtler things that I didn't . It's also interesting that the "I am Jack's..." statements refer to him in a fragmentary sense rather than an integrated whole person.

  • lol good review about a great movie.....to bad you sound like your hocking up a loogie when you say jack.

  • make more

  • Jach lol

  • Great vid but i had to watch it a few times because i can barely understand you T.T

  • Comment removed

  • is that the guy from 25th hour

  • @rainbowplastic Yuppp, Edward Norton, he also played the Hulk 8)

  • I like you actually, your pretty good with this kinda stuff.

  • omg i never noticed tyler in that tv holy shit

  • A Rob Ager wanna-be

  • @carlhungus89 rob ager does not own film or film analysis. i can do whatever i want so keep your pathetic comments to yourself. ive got better things to do

  • @bluegrinder84 I support you

  • @carlhungus89 What's so wrong about that?

  • Like every great movie, people either love or hate Fight Club, there's no in between.

  • Have you read the book? If yes, can you point out the similarities and the differences between the film and the book?

  • 1:45 you can see tyler

  • I'm amused by the sophist's reviews that inform us unwashed that THATS NOT WHAT THE MOVIE IS ABOUT. Baloney. The movie never stops reveling in violence. Any nonsense at the end, which beasts the chest about not going through with the ultimate media conclusion, is a cheap surrender to the censors.

  • The film is about consumerism. Its as simple as that.

  • helped with my history hw. and narrated by Soap Mactavish! Awesome!

  • @MrSunshine124 Look at the title of the video. Its says part 1. I mention marxism in part 2. Im not going to be patronised by a person who is too lazy or too ignorant to watch the whole analysis

  • @MrSunshine124 You just wasted 1 minute of your life writing that comment.

  • same as lermissa it's helping me a lot for an abnormal psychology class project. wonder if she's in my class lol

  • I found this extremely helpful! I'm currently doing a psychological analysis in school of the main character of fight club, and both parts of your film analysis helped me understand it in much more depth. Thank you!

  • over 2000 views. av that!!
