Although HDGD is Korean martial art, Why don't they use the Korean sword? KURIGATA and SAGEO are the features of Japanese sword. It is the similar Japanese sword. I never find such the Korean old sword or Korean soldier's photograph.
Neo Nazi Japanese Nationalist are the only ones complaining about who made the curved blade. Who the hell invented the automobile and curry and blue jeans then. Stop all the FUCKING hating, you guys sound like little bitches. Japan did not invent the curved blade you morons. Stop arguing for fuck sakes.
At 0:50, at the bottom left corner, why is a white belt performing Shimsang Gumbup? That's the black belt entrance form. Also, where are the mokgums? Traditional dojangs don't allow the use of jingums until you're around 2nd or 3rd Dan. Don't get me wrong, I was impressed by the girl doing Shimsang, although it could be improved. Very good for a white belt.
Why do they wear Japanese hakama, forms Kendo styles, and even use samurai swords? One originality point cannot be found in Haidong. In verity, Haidong is not a historical existence. Please stop mimicking Japanese. You should wear Korean clothes and use Korean swords. Traditional Korean swords are straignt and double-edged swords.
Interesting... I've wondered what Kumdo was. I thought that kumdo was a modified version of kendo used with Bogu and shinais. Oh FYI the song is by the Chemical Brothers
I don't get this. You are using kagums, I hope those are not jingums. But still you're white belts. For me that seems irresponsible. That's all. I don't see the relationship between The Chemical Brothers and Kumdo.
If an opponent jumps and does a 360 turn to make a cut, a simple men-uchi will take him down (and he'll wake up in a hospital with stitches on his back). Bunch of amateurs, except the master because I give him some credit.
While you are totally right, modern katana and jingum will beat the crap out of any nihonto. Why? Because of the new discoveries in metalurgy, like katana and jingum made out of L6 steel. L6 jingums are not weak, I can tell you. I also own 2 katana from Hanwei and Cheness, not nihonto. Would like to get one though.
i dont know the deal with either your sensei or headong gumdo, but i personnly practice Kendo for 7 months now, and even though we do not use Fake/Real metal swords, i can assure you, that doing such a think is like learning to fight before practicing basics, your exploanation about fear has not its place in this kind of swordmanship martial art, basics do teach you to trust yourself, not dangerous experiences...but you listen to you sensei..thats enough, cause i'm not sensei
I think you would have a heart attack then with half the things our master gets us to do. Cutting bamboo while he holds it, doing Shimsan with a Chikkom, i think if your instilled with a level of fear about these things you will lack confidence further down the line and i think this is great part of our training.
You can tell your havent been training long. your movements are slow and choppy, rather than smooth and flowing. Do you normally train so early with an iaito? Shouldn't you be using a bokken?
Yeah not long at all that video was shot 3 weeks into my training. We did use our bokken for a while but our master wants us to be s**t hot with sheathing and used to rolling and moving with a sheath, plus our custom made swords came last week and it really makes a difference!

its kumdo from korea. those swords are korean swords not katanas. korea copied kumdo from kendo in japan and those weak swords from katana in japan.
Korea sucks ass, and any1 coping them sucks ass too.

Why do you use japanese swords in korean sword fighting??
Because korea was a vassal kingdom colony of japan?
Crazy...
coree1011 4 years ago 8
It's not really a Japanese sword. It resembles a katana because both the katana and the gum (this sword) are both based on swords from China.
ebiljebus 4 years ago
So, it's is a katana made in China.

Not bad technic for only three weeks training but is much to early and dangerous to get your hands on a chikkom with your level of training.
Unfortunantly, accidents do happen...
