  • Is this the guy who hawks roast spuds?

  • Idiocracy, the intelligent people recognize the problem, they say to themselves, we're not stable, or we need more money to properly raise a child, while the idiots shoot out children for extra welfare payments, and accessibility to social service programs.

  • Hardly any of that oil goes to suv's. Pretty sure this is right- that navy and luxury liners use the majority by far. Simple education is the alternative to depopulation. Who would want to commit to 0% growth? I bet this guy has great-grandkids. 0% means you and your wife get to have two kids, but you have to die before becoming grandparents. 0% actually means war. so if you think it's all about oil you're only half right. do we decide to evolve into sexless androgenomes? no, we ride it out duh

  • so as americans it is our resposibilty to dewtroy africa and repopulate it

  • What all of these videos fail to say, is that HOPE is utterly pointless. In fact, the more the population grows the LESS likely it is that anything will ever change.

It is an absolute INEVITABILITY that man be be the cause of his own demise.

I guess Agent Smith was right after all.

  • @peaps Yes, except that we are the cancer of the biosphere, not a virus. Cancer cells stop obeying the laws of nature and proliferate out of control killing the organism that spawned them. We likely won't kill the biosphere but we are going to annihilate ourselves and several other species.

  • @Mr: We COULD control 2 major factors in the human condition: Population growth, & per capita use of oil & coal, BUT WE REFUSE: Blind optimism rationalizes our selfish behavior. We WILL eventually use less, because there'll be less TO use. Lack of food, clean water, oil, coal, electricity, & health care, plus wars between nations, states, cities, & families over increasingly rare resources, WILL 'solve' our population problem for us, if we don't do it ourselves.

  • There's no easy way out of this. Zero pop growth's only ethical method is birth control. (If birth control isn't done voluntarily, eventually it'll be forced.) Then there'll be a health care crisis when there aren't enough young people to care for old people, leading to higher mortality of seniors. A painful solution, but it's either that or just plain run out of everything, which will degrade the value of all human life, far beyond the first scenario, for all ages.

  • i mean come on boys: on which university does this old man teach???? in some hicksville in colorado and frankly he tells the truth, the only truth, and compare that to the statements that he refutes in his famous lecture, most of the the false statements come from ivy league-professors and other elite-universities, there you can see: it doesn't need ivy-league to spread the truth

  • Water n sunlight as food is an idea

    I read it somewhere

  • Until the global earth is bankrupt then it's

    Game over

Try playing a game n see what happens

    Make sense huh .... Heee...

  • Brilliant. Thank You, Dr. Bartlett finishes off this topic so the mere zombies may return to napping. Bless You!

  • Any day now things are gong to change and Most people are Not ready for it.

  • You people all deserve the bed you are making for yourselves.

  • Heard of the new process turning co2 into petroleum using bacteria? More scaremongering rubbish. Four horsemen lol.

  • @david222444 how do you interpret this as scaremongering. this man is just explaining the bare facts.

  • @RayDandy The four horses , disease famine, population control, global warming, this is scaremongering not facts. Fact the globe is cooling. Fact the Sun is in an inactive cycle. Fact the Pacific is cooling. Fact Carbon dioxide is essential to life on the planet. Fact the troposphere is 0.3 deg celcius cooler than this day last year. Fact climatologists have corrupted data to suit themselves. Fact humanity is the solution not the problem.

  • @david222444 these are typical strawmans used to argue against the undisputable reality of global warming( a term the deniers seem to misunderstand) and overpopulation(which does not mean people are a problem, its means too many people and their consumption is a problem). you're welcome to keep your head in the sand, its cozy there isnt it? this isnt scaremongering, its reality, the world isn't going to end, but there will be difficulties because of the refusal of many to face these issues

  • @RayDandy Yes we must rid the world of the human infestation. Let us start with climatologists lol

  • @david222444 grow a brain, man. stop listening to propaganda from political pundits. Listen to the science.

  • @d:Demand vs supply's the problem, not supply alone. How much petroleum will CO2 make? It'll need to replace billions of barrels of oil. If population keeps growing, #s of factories, workers, & raw materials'll grow. Even if CO2 initially met demand, (I doubt it), the earth'd soon be covered w/nothing but CO2 factories,(& it may well be!), & still, soon wouldn't meet the ever increasing demand. What's so horrible about zero population growth & decreased per capita use, -along- w/CO2?

  • @lazur1 I am pleased to inform you that new finds of shale gas combined with the process of fracking and new techniques of extracting oil will supply our demands for energy for hundreds of years to come. Co2 is an unimportant by pruduct of the burning of fossil fuels with no effect on the climate, infact Atmospheric co2 enrichment would benefit all life on the Planet.. I repeat the above video is scaremongering.

  • @david: Watch "The most important video you'll ever see", 8parts. No new finds, processes, or techniques account for increasing demands in their "hundreds of years to come" estimates. Give me the total barrels estimated by your source & I'il give you the true demand fulfillment estimate. One way or the next, demand will stabilize. It may happen by family planning, immigration control, & "green" living; by oil prices going "through the roof", or by famine, poverty, & death.

  • @lazur1 Green living is a non starter as renewable energy is useless . Population control and immigration control is green fascist policy. Economic growth needs cheap energy and fossil fuels meet the needs of a growing economy. . Try some "Rational Optimism".

  • @david222444 Please watch all 8 videos..then we'll talk

  • man...we're so fucked

  • It's all gone??

  • 0 population growth !! I don't know if it's possible. This man and this movie is astonishing !! I think that the only way is that everybody personnally begin to live others ways of living, just by the worry of carring about the generations to come, and the others. The others means humanity. If each of us does that, the others will follow. Every revolution is made by poeple. And that change is revolution... Never can be done with few of us deciding for everybody. It has never worked like that !

  • I like Dr. Bartlett & I think he's 100% honest but global warming has been debunked so the government is going to have to come up with another scam to get their hands on other people's resources.

  • "Science doesn't care how you vote." Love that line.

  • we do need to change our whole way of life: while it may present incredible adjustment, and hardship for a time; ultimately, it is evolution. and as to population, this is fallacy. 7 billion people could be alloted 1/4 acre of land apiece, and still only use 0.001562 square meters in queensland, with the whole rest of the world unpopulated. so, the real deal is this: how much change are we willing to make? what are we willing to give up? peace and love:)

  • Area of all Australia 7,617,930 sq km, or about 2.9 million square miles. equal to

    1,882,431,500 acres

    Or 7,529,726,000 ¼ acres

That is ignoring large areas of Aussie that can only support 1 Abbo per 100 square miles.

For every 10 calories of food on your plate 9 of them are there because of fossil fuel, limits to growth come in many forms.

Watch the first 75 min of HOME (see You Tube)

  • Look at Easter Island

area 163.6 sq km = 40426.28 sq acres or 101,065 1/4 acres, yet the population only reached about 13,000 before it went into terminal decline. The oil driven equivalent population could have reached 6x that, just like the whole planet now. The Easter Island population ended up at about 100.

Yes we have some changes ahead that is for sure;)

  • Bartlett is off about World War II, there is far more oil and coal production today than in 1945, but otherwise (the important parts) he is right.

  • Maybe he is saying per capita?

  • @oil: He means per total demand, (per capita x population),which keeps going goes up even when per capita use has gone down: Population's grown so much that small per capita decreases don't help. On that basis, production isn't anywhere close to keeping up with demand. US per capita demand's over 3X global demand per capita, AND we're still growing, (& proud of it for some strange reason), a "double-whammy". We are the problem.

  • @mrmultidextrous No, he's spot on. The US was the world's leading oil producer in WW II, which was one of the main reasons that the US won in less than 4 years. Read "The Prize" for example.

  • @mrmultidextrous don't forget overall consumtion to go along with that production. We use more today as well in our everyday life.

  • After listening to everything available from Prof Bartlett, the evidence is certainly undeniable. Dr. Bartlett presents the evidence convincingly, but WHAT is the solution? None is presented and merely the demise is predicted. If there is no solution than wouldn'g ignorance be bliss?

  • Zero population growth is the solution and we WILL get there. The only question is will it be by our actions or will nature step in and do it for us?

  • @phlashba Western birthrates are already below sustainability: /watch?v=6-3X5hIFXYU

  • @CelticKraut The planet doesn't care which race/religion is doing the most overpopulating --- it is irrelevant. Racism has no place in this debate.

  • @phlashba Well direct your concern at other populations. Western nations(Including Japan, Australia etc.) don't need any more discouragement to not have children. Go on African and Middle Eastern channels with your whining!

  • @CelticKraut I am stupid to argue with a moron but there is no such thing; YouTube is a worldwide site. If you are older than 14 I feel very sorry for you.

Go ahead and continue spewing your hatred; I will not be commenting further to you.

  • @phlashba You are some kind of paranoid. What did I say that was hateful?

  • @C:Saw the video.Total population/total consumption's the issue. Which culture's the main problem's nothing compared to the problem itself. When Muslims immigrate to US, they overuse energy like the Americans they've become. Perhaps they ARE the ones who need to practice birth control. If that's your point, ok, but the implication of the video seems to be that Christians (&Jews) should have more kids to resist a future Muslim majority. That'd only make the problem we're discussing here worse.

  • @Celtic: Growth's the problem, by -whatever- means it occurs, thus I agree immigration's sorely neglected in Dr.Bartlett's lectures. Nonetheless, your issue with Musllms in particular is nothing compared w/the simple numbers: Immigration's job should be to help realize zero US population growth. If that policy happens to affect a particular culture, it must only be a coincidence, based on zero population enforcement, not what % of the population is a particular religion.

  • @lazur1 don't be a fucking eugenicist. 0% means having two kids and dying before they have kids. think about it. who decides who gets to fuck and who doesn't?

  • @zWe must decide for ourselves. Many people choose to have NO kids, & many more will follow by economic necessity environmentally-related sterility & pessimism for what the future holds for offspring. There's also a good chance today's youth'll be the 1st modern generation w/a shorter average lifespan than their parents'. And -that's- the SOLUTION! Eugenics is what we're trying to AVOID: If we don't CHOOSE 0-growth, the government of the (not-so-distant) future will choose it FOR us.

  • @bitslg Don't have kids, ride a bike, live in a smaller house, have roommates, don't be fat, buy local produce, don't keep relatives artificially alive if they have no chance to recuperate, go to sleep when the sun goes down. If these are too painful for you, then -yes-, ignorance -is- bliss, BUT you WIILL do these things, in a more painful manner, when they truly become the only way to live.

  • Please put subtitles, sorry its just that i cant understand a half of this and its really interesting, it would be helpfl for those who cant hear well or anything at all.

  • Thanks for the suggestion, I'm sorry my copy of Blind Spot doesn't have subtitles, you might be able to get a copy with them via the producer Adolfo2500 (do a search on YouTube)

I agree it would be great to have them, do a google for Albert Bartlett you will find very interesting reading on his website.

  • Added a link to Albert's lecture 'Arithmetic, Population and Energy' in the more info area

  • Spurgeon123

If anything (humanity) is part of Gods plan then EVERYTHING is, and species go extinct every day, as per the Plan. Industrialism has desacralized wilderness for modern man, and he mistakenly claims dominion on nature. Bartlett is right: it won't go on. I recommend Man and Nature: The Spiritual Crisis in Modern Man by Seyyed Nasr for a religions, principally Christian perspective.

  • It's man that began pumping oil out of the ground, and the supplies are limited.

  • Gods plan is infinite and man is part of that plan so I wouldnt worry about oil reserves or trees or the dolphins and whales. These people who worry are middle aged and older men and women who use scare tactics and seminars and biased books to distort reality in the minds of the youth. Trust God, not men. God has an eternal plan for men and our existance was planned and mapped out long before the creation of this planet and our future extends much further than this planet.

  • @Spurgeon123 and you would be an idiot who shouldn't be allowed to vote or reproduce

  • @UpstairsMaid You have that backwards dear - only an idiot would reproduce
