Unfortunately, I don't have much to celebrate on this latest release.

The album is hard to listen to, despite some great music; whoever did the mastering went overboard with dynamic range compression.

The overall sound quality can be summed up in one word: STRAINED.

I couldn't get into the music because the sound was so badly strained that my ears were feeling uncomfortably fatigued.

You know it's bad if you have to turn it DOWN.

This album is another victim of the loudness war.

It should not be wasted on someone with such infinitely greater musical tastes than most of us regular humans.

(sigh) It is not the music nor is it about musical taste. IT'S THE RECORDING.

Please understand the difference between the ART and the ENGINEERING to get that art RECORDED.

I bought two of the singles from iTunes which, surprisingly enough, seems to be mastered a bit better and is easier to listen to than the same exact songs on the CD.

There's nothing wrong with the music; look up "loudness war" on YouTube.

The music could have been mastered better, making it better in terms of subjective impact; the music sounding so good that you want to turn it UP.

Loudness war, a.k.a. excessive dynamic range compression, kills the dynamics, especially in percussion and bass, compromising the music's rhythmic feel and yields an unbalanced, strained sound quality that makes you want to turn it DOWN.

The music can be the best, but it doesn't matter if the technical values used to record and master it are bad.

I second that, I have the impression everyone is getting obssesed with cats lately, maybe because everytime there is less space and cats are better apartment pets, but for me dogs win as friends.

@LithiumHammer Most amazing thing is: people say dogs are better than cats, because they are all more affectionate. Well, maybe you should LEARN somenthing with your DOGS, because I never saw a cat lover telling people how they HATE DOGS. In a way, we find LOTS of dog people full of hate in their hearts for other species. So I can only understand the what you point as negative about cats (that isn't even true) is INSIDE yourself, and cats act like a powerful mirror of your own misery.
