wow cant believe how many ppl dont know what an rb30det is. the nissan r31 skyline and Holden Commodore VL came with an rb30e and some cases rb30et from factory. rb30e = 3.ltr efi. rb30et = 3.ltr efi turbocharged. an rb30det = 3.ltr dual overhead cams efi turbocharged. its an rb30e bottom with either a head from an rb25det or 26det slapped on.

now see the issue with this whole muscle car thing is that a lot of people dont really modify them they just settle for the lil bit of cam and shit like that...look at this think a 20B with big ass lumpy cams and huge amounts of boost...i mean hell, dont accuse me of bein a muscle car guy cuz ive got an 84 olds cutlass with a 383 stroker but ive also got a slammed ek civic coupe with a boosted ls vtec, i can speak for both worlds when i say anything can be fast if you know what your doing..

@YueyangC i know it was an exageration but u know what i mean, a cam, heads, intake and carb will make a old small block come to life and with like 3 grand u can make 450 horse without boring it...some inline 6s and shit will do that too i know but parts are cheaper and more readily available and in a lot of cases cheaper...im not knockin imports, i love them...handle way better than my cutlass...but i learned that building a 383 stroker is a lot cheaper than a k20a lol

RB30DET on standard pistons can make ya 600hp reliable

@YueyangC nice...my buddy has a 500 horsepower sr runnin like 18 pounds of boost in an old datsun 510 haha...it wont stay on the road for nothin with stock wheels and shit on it...just blows the back tires away, we even had it in 3rd doing like 30mph and she was at like 1800rpm and he punched it and as soon as it hit 1500 the back end was sliding everywhere lol

@zmanbailey1 Mickey thompson ET streets are virtually drag slicks that are DOT approved and legal. There the best street legal stickies that money can buy. I have em on my mustang and no other tire hooks as consistantly as MTs. Oh and also a good suspention setup also helps.

@zmanbailey1 the rb30 was actually a factory engine, but i don't believe it is a very well known engine in the U.S. the most powerful model was the rb30et which was a SOHC I6 turbo producing 201hp. these engines are strong and can take alot of boost. people would take the rb30 block and mate it with either the rb25 or rb26 head to make it DOHC. which became known as the rb30det.

So bulky and ugly, but they push out good numbers and steering conditions from the factory. It just depends on the work that goes into them. rb30det is not stroked rb25... its nissans 3L (rb30e) that came in sohc n/a and sohc turbo. take the bottom end off that, shove an rb25 dohc head on top and you got win.
