I believe its fair to say that history has proven that many Native Americans were slaughtered and pushed away from their homes , used in wars between different settlers as well. What I don't agree with is perpetuating lies and distorting facts to prove a point. No natives slaughter happened on Thanksgiving Day , or any Thanksgiving day so I am not letting a bunch of whiny agnostic hippies ruin my holiday for me every year because they have nothing else to bitch about.

@Sood81 The Holland documents are what this original argument was based on, Someone cited them as being proof of this fictional account. So I managed to acquire a copy, last year . There is no mention of anyone celebrating Thanksgiving by slaughtering natives. Thanksgiving was originally a celebration of Harvest and was famously celebrated with Natives and pilgrims at Plymouth , thus adopting the holiday into our culture. Associating Thanksgiving with a fictional account is ridiculous.

Actually if you knew history , a lot of the massacres of Indian tribes were at the hands of their own people . The English , French , and Spanish governments were trying to get as much land as possible and would pay one tribe to wipe out another and so on so they could have their land. In the French Indian war the term scalping was invented, not by natives or Pilgrims, but Europeans that were paying them to scalp the heads of tribes they did not favor , or were on the wrong side of the war.

Thanksgiving is a blessing to the poor, for some its the one day of the year they get to eat a full meal .

I had this same argument and the sources they cited for this were Holland Documents Circa 1665 ect. which they didn't expect anyone to actually read and fact check. I read them ! And there is no mention of Natives being Slaughtered on Thanksgiving Day !

Thats because it didn't f**kin happen. This is bull... There was no massacre of Native Americans on Thanksgiving day, and its not why we celebrate Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving was based on the original celebrations of the Native Americans at the time of harvest giving thanks for life, and this was passed on to the Pilgrims at Plymouth Rock. Sure these things happened, but it wasn't on , around , or have anything to do with Thanksgiving. The people who are proposing this nonsense cannot prove it.
