@4crevis Passenger's side A-pillar. You can see it in the video.... it gets submerged just before the guy pops out the window and climbs onto the roof.
@bestposted They were cheering him, not laughing at him. He's not a moron, he's a guy having some fun with his offroad toy.
He's not harming you, why do you feel the need to be nasty about him? What's so bad about YOUR life that you feel the need to belittle others to make yourself feel better?
@OctavianDulf1976 Not really. Most of us 4x4 guys do stuff like that - although most not quite so extreme. He wanted a challenge, and he failed to pull it off - but that's what makes 4x4'ing fun! The challenge. If there was no chance of failure, it'd be boring. And like most of us 4x4 guys, that probably isn't his day to day car, that's probably his "toy". And you can see the winch cable is already attached to something, so he would have been tugged out and carried on.
the car has no damage, it just had to stop driving because the "shnorke"/ air ventile for the engine get drowned under water. thats the only way to stop a G-Class tbh. and I#m serious. 2 years ago i was stopped by 60cm (2 foot) snow in east europe and my saturn frontera (27" wheels, 4X4 differential) wasn't able to go any further. 3 hours later the rescure team came in a G wagon and pulled me 12 kilometers out of the snow.
He turned the engine off right before the snorkel went under water. The engine did not get damaged because it is a one way snorkel, engine off..... it blocks anything from coming in. All he will do is winch the wagon out and start it, and go home.
No he did not kill his car... He IS an off roader not an arm chair wheeler. He knows exactly what he's doing and has the proper equipment for it.
Internet idiots...
Plus, that's a Diesel. Not a gas engine with an ignition, distributor and spark plugs. All it needs is an intake and an exhaust to run. Everything else like the fuel pump, works off the engine.
Go talk your chit about american junk, where you might actually know something.
B/c I am american & can tell you, you don't know sh..
@F0ckUtoob In fact i dont think that using gely as a submarine is aproved by Mercedes. Also, b/c u are american go and learn how true offroad car should be built from germans, thats not your crappy hummer
@F0ckUtoob I get that, but I really did see that intake go under water, and I don't know of any engine type that can switch from air to water intake....
If he really was a baller, he'd really pump his arms with more enthiusiasm instead of worrying about his expensive ride that has been trashed over a failed attempt to try pleasing a crowd of strangers. At least the crowd got to see a guy fuck up his ride for free.
@HateCrewMurder Rubbish. If you never get stuck, you're not trying hard enough - that's the motto of pretty much every 4x4 driver. We all get stuck, and it's not because we're bad offroad drivers, it's because only doing stuff you *know* you won't get stuck in is boring. The whole point of 4x4'ing is to challenge yourself and your car - if you don't get stuck, YOU AREN'T TRYING HARD ENOUGH!
@MudBarf oh goody. i love 4x4 driving, thank you. i know what i´m talking about. but ok. it looks funny, i´m sad about the car. i would not like to clean it.
@HateCrewMurder So if you know what you're talking about, how come you said he killed his car and accused him of being "a bad offroad-driver"? You got both of those things wrong. If you knew about 4x4'ing, you'd have spotted the snorkel and the winch cable, and you'd have known he didn't kill the car, and could winch himself out under his own power. Which means all of your comments were *wrong*. As for cleaning it, 10 minutes with a pressure washer (inside and out).
the snorkel went under the water which means the intake sucked water into the engine, fuel lines cleaning and engine rebuild, and air filter replaced and itd be fine (im training as a mechanic)
@noscopesnipa Watch it again. He managed to switch the engine off before the snorkel went under. All he needs to do is winch himself out, disconnect his snorkel, make sure there's no water in the air intake and crank her over. Ideally without sparks/glows.
As for an engine rebuild - I think you need to ask your tutor/trainer what "hydrolocking" an engine does to it. And since when were the fuel lines connected to the snorkel??? Injectors/carbs might need cleaning, but not the fuel lines.
Respond to this video... Also, if you knew about 4x4'ing, you'd have noticed the winch cable already attached to something - he probably did winch his way out under his own power. So perhaps you should try going 4x4ing, instead of being an armchair expert?
he didnt, just would need an engine rebuld and all fuel lines cleaaning, but how he would get his van out is beyond me, would need a crane or somethin
im training as a mechanic, all you would need to do is drain the fuel tank, disconnect it from the carb or injectors(im guessing its a carbed engine), then use a small pump to suck the water out, its a job that would take a day at most and another day for an engine rebuild to get the water out of the clynders, replace the jets on the carb cos they could be damaged by the water.
its a 2 day job, 3 days at the most with a few cig and cuppa breaks.
@noscopesnipa The fuel tank is airtight. So why would you drain it? Why would you clean the fuel lines? And there was no water in the cylinders. The engine was turned off before the snorkel went under. He winched his G-Wagon out, and he drove it home. That's what happened. Several eye witnesses have already said that's what happened.
i didnt know he switched off the engine, if he hadnt then you would have to do the stuff i said,
and yes the tank is airtight, but if water got into the snorkel then into the carb, it would mix with the fuel coming from the jets and contaminate it to the point where it wont start the car, and the electronics would have shorted out and stop the car starting unless they had been waterproofed, im guessing it was a carbed engine, not electronic injection
@noscopesnipa You might wanna read the whole thread next time - it had been pointed out a dozen times that he cut the engine before the snorkel went under.
As for the fuel mixing in the carbs - that still wouldn't contaminate the fuel lines. And if the fuel mixed with water and got into the cylinders, it'd be hydrolocked - at which point it's 95% likely a new engine is required.
As for the electrics, the car would have stalled the moment the engine was underwater if they weren't waterproofed.
I bet most of the underwater 4WDing postings are american, not Russian. Search on 'drivers down', 'underwater toyota' and 'safari snorkel' to see how its really done.
Did it drown? I don't know Russian, but it looks like a spectator was gestering to cut the engine, then the driver returned inside the cabin and the engine cut (see exhaust stop). The car then sank. It appears as though the back end was floating and not getting good traction, so it was mainly driving on its front wheels. If he had weighted down the back end of the vehicle he might have gotten further.
cont... Some years back an attempt was made to cross Darwin Harbour (Australia) completely submerged in a modified 4WD with a very long snorkel, but failed because they ran into a rock ledge.
what a fucken idiot. is not that russians dont give a fuck is that they dont know the difference. They love being the center of attention, and this is their leader taking first.
