Actually, Fabian is pretty good here. No Ricky Nelson (whom he was often for mistaken for and compared to), but not terrible. No, he's not now and never was a great singer, by his own admission. But he's certainly not as bad as some people make him out to be, or as bad as some who try to call themselves singers today.

Funny how hard we are on men who become famous because of their gorgeous looks, when we accept it so easily with talentless women. A real double standard. And, Fabian turned into a decent actor who was very good in several films up against people like John Wayne and Bing Crosby. He was never a good singer though.

You are right and no one defended him. My wife and millions of other women loved his looks; that is the only reason he was a success.

Fabian was discovered by a Philadelphia record produce as Fabian was sitting on his front porch. Fabian's family was poor because his father was disabled. When Fabian started singing he became sole support of his entire family. His real name was Fabian Forte.

Unlike Andy Kaufman Fabian did not become famous by making fun of people who have accents.

At the age of 13 I adored Fabian as did every other young teenage girl that I knew. It must have been irrevelant that he couldn't sing. In the 70's he did a nude centerfold for Cosmopolitan that was quite impressive.
