@ jimmyjimmyf shit Man be careful of your back because your form is understandably terrible! That's a lot of weight and the effect it will have on your lower back will be bad! But super heavy good job!
@gareththomasnz to save energy i try not to let the bell dead hang so once i pick it up im dragging it back with the same motion, this is where technique goes out the window cos youre only supposed to generate the swing with the legs but im ripping that thing up with the arm from the moment i complete the back swing. the annoying part is getting used to racking without it falling forward, look up ivan denisov with the 60kg youll see he has a flawless lean back method of racking its really good.
That's wonderful! Very inspiring! Keep up the great work!
You should consider posting a little info like how long you had been training and what you did to build up your strength, many people would love to know, I'm sure!
Working on it mate, thanks. The next vid i'll prolly have a slightly better looking bell cos im gonna have the extra lead weight melted and cast around the bell. A more well rounded weight should be a hell of a lot more manouverable
No, this was one of about six tries after i made it. i dont like ladder training much, i think the body responds more to a great struggle than a gradual increase. I think a good balance between very hard and possibly injuring works best. For example, the 75kg one i made out of the fatter 60Kg bell damaged my tendons a bit i think cos of the fat handle, this one is a lot better. My advice is, always think big, any progress you make will be encouraging even if it feels impossible at the start.
If I understood right, you mean that the weights should be close to 1RM? How often do you train if this is the case? I guess that too much training with such heavy weights easily leads to overtraining.
Only about 4 times a week, twice a week on heavy stuff and twice on standard KBs like 40+ and other weights like curls, benches etc. Technically i mean 1rm to begin with but the thing about KBs is that you find that 1rm is never really 1rm, many factors affect the press, you could find that in a day or two once you understand the feel of the new weight, you can suddenly do another rep. Its good to do more than 1rm. I recommend not going past 5 reps for strength in presses. Move up after that.
hey that thing looked like it suffered through the bay area fire storm. i saw engine blocks that looked better. to bad i was not into kbs then. nice work! wicked lift... keep it up... by the way did you buy that bell?
lol, wouldnt go that far mate, its a 7.5 kg plate drill bolted onto the bottom of a 32kg bell with 30.5 kg of lead flashing hammer rolled around it. The hammering took ages, then i ducked it all up.. originally did this with the 60kg and 15kg of lead but it was huge and not practical.. Not that this one is a great improvement hehe. I might have someone who can make 70+ into workable KBs, almost pro size for the 70s according to him, need to convince him that there will be a market for em though
Nice one. Can you turkish get up that ugly thing?

Oh, this is also a great source of inspiration. You really make me want to get as strong as you. Do you train this press in ladders?
