ok... when using the animations is there an easy way to return whatever object you are animating to its original position? So if the animation is looping it looks as if it just keeps moving fluidly, instead of moving to one spot then disapearing and returning to another?

One thing not clear in your explanation: is the process to 1) set the frame in the timeline, then 2) select the object, then 3) set the type of animation with the I key, then 4) make the moves/rotations/sizing changes to the object? Since you did several keyframes, but began with frame one in which there was no movement, it wasn't crystal clear as to where the start and end of the keyframing process was.
