are you sure sugar is a male as the top of the beak is pink and males are blue?

I am 100% positive that Sugar is a male (and not just b/c of the colour of his cere).

The dark-eyed clear is a combination of recessive pied and clearflight pied. When these two mutations are both present, the budgie has no markings and is either pure yellow or pure white (w/ dark plum coloured eyes).

The cere of an adult male dark-eyed clear is purple whereas the cere of an adult female dark-eyed clear is the normal white/tan/brown.

@rainbowrachel192 The featherless, fleshy hump located just above the beak is known as the cere. Though it is true that the majority of captive male budgies sport a blue cere, not all of them do. The cere of a cock can range from different shades of pink or purple as well. Also, it is very uncommon for a hen to chatter as much as Sugar does. He is a male for sure.

@o0TreeGirl0o Only male budgerigars can imitate sounds. Some can even learn a few words. If you were to teach a budgie to imitate different noises, you should teach him when he is young.
