A guy at Fry's Electronics told me that they are now putting power supplies at the bottom of the case instead of the top. They are doing that for better circulation.
@essentialeugene yeah a lot of the high end, or gamer cases have them at the bottom. since the power supply isnt taking in extra heat from the components, it remains cool thus extending the life of your power supply. heat and dust are a main problem for computers, they can reduce to life span of the components.
Hey if you could please help, ive never done pc gaming but im looking to get into it, and im trying to find a good computer that can handle call of duty, battlefield and those sorts of games, is this a good build for that?
@daharvster windows im guessing, go onto the boot menu ( it tells you what buttons to press when the machine posts should be f11)then just follow the on screen instructions.
@daharvster First of all, check in the BIOS setup if the first boot device is your DVD Drive. You will find that under the "Boot" tab. When that's done, save and exit the bios, and put your installation cd into the DVD drive, and then just follow the on-screen instructions, it should be pretty simple.
@Knaris Yeah, I have a few of those computers that look quite similar. I think the guy in the video took apart an old computer to prove his point, and to show how to assemble a computer. I suggest using a more recent model considering the fact that technology changes everyday, for better or worse. I want to redo this video, but I don't have any anti-static gear, and don't really want to touch my processor. By the way, I have a Dell Dimension 8400.
look at all those pci slots! lmao! what is this thing, a pentium 3? i guess a pc made after 2003 is just too damn hard to find lol! what am i saying, 2008 was the golden age of pc building, 4 gigs of ddr2 for $40! just try buying 2 gigs for that price today :(
Okay man...now i have nvidia9500GT 1GB and it sucks ... and i'm planning to change to GTX280..but before that how do i check whether the graphic card supports my computer or not ?
I have intel core duo 2 5Ghz
Nvidia Geforce9500GT
4GB Ram..
What i hear is that if the graphic card does not support my computer,it will explode..so i need help with this please !
@syafiqpilot The graphics card will not explode, it may not work, but it won't explode. The main issue is the number of Watts your power supply puts out, you want at LEAST 450 watts, the other issue is how much space you case has, the GTX 280 is a very large card, so make sure you have more than a foot of space between the slots in the case that your video output is on and your hard drives at the front. worst thing that can happen is that you will need a new power supply and a new case.
@syafiqpilot check if you have agp slot or a PCI slot, look up pci slot on google images and take a look at some pictures then look on your mother board and if u have the same one as the one in the picture then it is compatiable, but if you get a new one u need a new power supply
Is there a standard size for power suppies? Like if I were to have a micro atx case.. What sort of power supply would suit it? Cause I believe they can only have limited power or something?
old pc is super super old, its got agp and the mobo was released before ATX 12 volt xD, no pci-e, like 9 pci, not to mention he's doing this in a pre built workstation from an oem with propritary parts like the case psu and mobo.
if your gonna post a video like this, dont forget to upload it the same year you make it, not 6 years later
idk about tht. from what im seeing the card uses a bit over 300 watts at load and about 47 idle. if u were two use 2 of those bad boys than ya. but for one no way do u need a 2000 watt PSU.
hey guys my internet connection is pretty slow its wireless any idea how i make it fast? cos if i play a game it usually stucks and after awhile it goes back + if i play something like counterstrike or something i have very high ping like 400+600+ anyone can help me?
ive been thinking of getting an ATI Radeon HD 5970 but im unsure whether ill have to upgrade my PSU. my current specs are i7 920@2.67ghz, 12gb ram, 2 GTS 250's in SLI, and a creative labs soundblaster "fata1ity edition". my CPU is also liquid cooled. im using a 1000 watt PSU atm.
get w/ the times dude. 4 gigs is laughable now adays. 2 gigs is mediocre. im not saying everyone shoul dbuy a rig w/ 12 gigs of ram but if ur a gamer u should hav at least 6. games are starting to raise the amount of ram recommended to run their games and will continue to. i will never go back to less then 12. i love it.
upgrade the whole pc? y the fuck would i upgrade the whole damned pc. i could easily buy another PSU rated for a higher wattage no problem and installl it. btw i was just looking for a second opinion. that card consumes 300 watts at full load same w/ both my 250's combined. u Ausies are just like ur English brothers. biggoted fools.
No they are not. They have to meet the requirements for the other hardware installed. Too weak of a power supply and you're not going to be doing crap. Also you have the power breakdown with rails and such, but that usually only deals with video and maybe some other minor things, but that's in serious rigs and I don't think you'd be asking that question and building a serious rig. Anyways, no not every power supply is compatible with every computer.
i have an IBM 1995 Desktop i tried setting it up but it is running to slow. is it possible to make the computer run fast like a 2005 or 2007 Model computer?
nope the only thing you can do is change the processor to one that is faster but will still fit in your board then you need to change your ram chips but they may not work with your old system
If you want a cheap system from 2005 to 2007 you would have to look in ebay. But a more moder PC won't be that much more costly. On the other hand my first laptop (as second pc) ist a 150 Euro Dell Latitude D600 from ebay. (From 2003) - running WinXP for surfing the net and watching video from my bed :)
I just had the same problem, first thing to check is that the power supply is actually working (i.e. the fan is spinning) as some power supplies wont work for some systems, as i found out the hard way, so the pc will just freeze to prevent damage. The other thing is, if youre running windows 7, try swapping the ram to the alternative slots on the motherboard.
Need help with this question. Last night i was on my comp and then it shut down on it's own. I immediately turned it back on and I heard and saw the short coming from power supply, saw tha sparks. I took out the ps. It was a 450w, Would this harm motherboard, cpu or hd????

your lucky the wires that turn the power on the front i bought a case from xoxide and all the wires from the front were 1 wire 1 connector unlike yours were its 2 wires 1 connector
k. I was just wondering because I just installed a 9500 gt and was looking at the minimum power specifications which is 350 watts and my psu is only 300 watt.
building it is only half the work............u still have to install drivers.....operating system......set all your crap in the bios to the apropriate settings.......and troubleshoot your problems.........we all get problems with custom pcs........and dont deny that......even if its a small problem that u have to use your brain for like 5 minuts.........weve all had problems with custom rigs.....with mine...took me a month to figure out why my motherboard didnt accept my video card......so.
this pc can calculate 1+1 in just few min. !!!!

the positive and negative does not matter for the power button
it is a button
you can put it in backwards and there would be no difference
it just connects the positive to the negative
to find there the power button goes I take a small knife and start making connections between the pins then I stick it in

wow man, you're a genius. thank you so much for telling me how to attach connections that won't fit any where else. This is amazing...you mean to tell me if i can build with erector set, i can build a pc? seriously...don't spend so much time doing things we can all figure out. We need more info on SATA drivers and Windows install....fag

Does anyone know where a good place to build a custom pc online is? Alienware seems to expensive for nothing really special. Thanks in advance.

Everytime I play crysis my computer shuts down and restarts, is it my power supply?
yfm4450 2 years ago
actually it could be because your computer is overheating. check the temperatures when you are playing crisis.
NuMb3r1PuNjAbI94 2 years ago
k. I was just wondering because I just installed a 9500 gt and was looking at the minimum power specifications which is 350 watts and my psu is only 300 watt.
yfm4450 2 years ago
you should get at least a 400 watt psu. Go with a corsair because they are the best company.
NuMb3r1PuNjAbI94 2 years ago
i have a 9800 GT and mine is a minimum 400 watt... but for 10 more bucks just get a 500 watt
Racemark123 2 years ago
yea but your graphics card is different and requires more power to use then his does.
NuMb3r1PuNjAbI94 2 years ago
but im saying you shouldnt get the bare minimum PSU so if you do want to upgrade you dont have to buy another PSU again.
Racemark123 2 years ago
I have that same power supply!

is that ram ddr2 667 still able play recent games?
shinigami676 2 years ago
building it is only half the work............u still have to install drivers.....operating system......set all your crap in the bios to the apropriate settings.......and troubleshoot your problems.........we all get problems with custom pcs........and dont deny that......even if its a small problem that u have to use your brain for like 5 minuts.........weve all had problems with custom rigs.....with mine...took me a month to figure out why my motherboard didnt accept my video card......so.
BigJ2008youngmoney 2 years ago

while the total wattage is important, you gotta make sure your getting good amperage
most PC's actually only use about 100watts or less, but more gives you stability
dreamthinker79 2 years ago 2
What kind off crap are you using? Computers normally have 200+ watts nowadays!
