  • wow.. really good.. nice to see such a nice made video for a change

  • Wow, I know all these terrible things go on but it takes a vid like this to make it really hit home. This is why I love these guys, they are realist like myself I push all the bounderies

  • United States and their capitalism system at its best

  • remember when mtv played actually good music?

  • Comment removed

  • Great song, great cause, but I've never liked the two together. This is obviously a love song and setting these images to it does not work imo.

  • Check out the 'not for sale' campaign for more information about human trafficking, and what you can do to help the cause.

  • I am so godawfully sick of people telling other people to "wake up", like they have some special lease on things that us sheep are unaware of. It has become one of the most retarded cliches of our times. It is usually reserved for American right wingers, yet as all stupid comments go, these things remain ridiculous for us all to use. Such is democracy. Next time someone tells you to wake up, you have my personal permission to give them a concussion. "You need to wake up." What fuckers.

  • memories u.u

  • Excellent music and video

  • Bueno muy bueno

  • Poor kids, when i grow up and susceed, i will Quit my job and spend my money on helping those people.

  • I used to be mad about waking up early in the morning and going to work , but after i saw this ... i dont think i would be again , this is Breathtaking ... an "eyeopener" .

  • the sex trafficking is even scarier.. i live in north texas and there were reports earlier this year that young women would be smuggled into the area and driven around in busses during the super bowl to be sold for sex.. it's all so dark and disturbing.. hard to think of what you can do about it from where you are in your normal everyday life..

  • the final sentence is great, really good work

  • The white lad having his life = caused by the slave lad having his kinda life

    et vice versa

  • @midnightwallflower

    this isnt labour, its slavery

  • Does anybody know the name of jail bird cartoon in the background at 0:55? It looks great.

  • This is exactly why you can get a pair of shoes at Wal Mart for 20 bucks.

  • la realidad expuesta al final.... como las grandes marcas, corporaciones y gobiernos sustentan esto.... la babylon....

  • I started crying when I saw the 2 pair of shoes next to each other :'(

  • 27 Chinese kids Disliked this video

  • Great Song and a Great Vid, iono how you can disLike this

  • yes yes yes and.............yes!

  • @25jaws1 Oh, this is armchair politics. There may in the future be other ways for these impoverished families to get money to have food to eat, but for many people, sweatshops are how they get food. A lot of people flamed Steve Jobs and Apple for providing menial labor to Chinese workers for low pay, but what is very little pay to us is a lot to them. Without the opportunity for labor they would starve. This hits close to home too. I suggest you read a book called The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.

  • @midnightwallflower Completely INCORRECT - wages should match their INFLATION. Chinese companies based in china, and india also, pay workers a low wage, and don't give a SHIT about inflation.

Oh yeah, imagien getting paid 1.00 a day, and realizing FUCKING bread cost 5.00 a loaf dipshit, next time include INFLATION figures in that faggot book

  • Plus, if kids like the one on the left didn't exist, the one on the right would starve and fail. The lyrics fit so well. I'm just a moth that NEEDS to share in your light. It's so sad but it's just how the world is. Some people are born into fortune and some are not, call it karma or whatever you like. Have room in your heart this Thanksgiving and every day for what you've been born with, but words and songs are never enough. Hope you understand what I'm driving at here.

  • Question. We can hold hands as much as we want and sigh about how lucky we are, but if these children didn't have these sweat shop jobs, they would literally starve. I've read and heard of children and adults being turned out of sweat shops after liberals come from first-world nations to shut it down to eradicate child labor and then families breaks down crying, begging for the sweatshops to be opened again. It's their livelihood. We think it's shitty, and it is, but this is how they eat.

  • @midnightwallflower you think this is the only way for them to get food? sweatshops are the only answer to hunger?

  • it kinda scares me to know mostly everything is made in china, even high priced brands like jordan shoes. out of everything that we buy, how much comes from child labor? :o

  • Disgrace how a Bieber video can get 400 million while this gets 400k. Amazing song, emotional and eye opening video. I wake up feeling lucky everyday that I was born into a comfortable life. The human race can be disgusting and all for money and power and the expense of those less fortunate.

  • Cuz we're all living in America, America it's wonderful. We're all living in America, Coca-Cola, sometimes war.

  • TRUTH

  • every hegemonical culture through history had slaves. roman, aztek, chinese, ethiopian etc. western civilization just outsourced it. in the west, a lot of people acting like lion cubs who are pretending to be zebras. they all are shocked and outraged about how their parents hunt down and kill their prey. but minutes later, they all enjoying the meat. i dont want to justify or excuse our consumerism, im just tired and sick of all this people with blood-smeared mouths shouting:"oh, how terrible!"

  • In Rainbows. On one side is the gold. And the other.. You can see it...

  • One of the best songs ever written.

  • Yeah, yeah, nice video... but for me it is not the appropriate video for such a wonderful song, I mean it deserves a well constructed video, more artistic, less dramatic. C'mon it is my favorite song, would like something else to represent this masterpiece than this "moral" video which is made or produced by an industry of music, how coherent sounds that, huh?

  • @Mictlanpapalotl1 well.. you can look at it from different angle, we are in a world where everything we need is in somebody elses country. We are in a society continually fueled by "consumerism", this machine making things we don't need, luxurious items like ipods, giant tv, new sneakers etc.. and media only brainwashes people to buy things beynd necessity And the moment we get those things we automatically want something else. Instead if a person found fulfillment from his society, he wouldn't

  • @Mictlanpapalotl1 If a person received fulfillment from his society, care, warmth he would feel happy, and wouldn't want anything, only necessity for life. All we need is each other. Really.

  • @Mictlanpapalotl1 Actually if you read the lyrics this video reflects them in a perfect way. "I'm just a moth who wants to share your light, I'm just an insect trying to get out of the night" Is a beautiful way of stating how much these less fortunate people need more fortunate people for survival, "You're all I need" pretty much sums it up... Well anyways, beautiful song, amazing band. my favorite.

  • @Mictlanpapalotl1

I got the feeling Thom would spit on ur face!

  • simply extraordinary

  • looks like the kid from modern family

  • amazing

  • I would never forget that music video and the beats and the feeling.

  • Best Music video I've ever seen.

  • Amazing...

  • Dejemos de ignorarnos

  • we watched it in history class.. its quite touching and had to write if we were for or not about children working.

  • You can't help but to wonder what it would be like if more artist were like Radiohead in the sense of instead of displaying half naked women shaking their asses why not use their music videos as a vehicle to bring awareness to an important cause. It's sad to see how fucked up our society's morals have gotten.

  • Se te frunce el culito con este video... Por fin una buena MTV

  • Well isn't this just a punch in the gut?

  • I whas there on EXIT fest 09 main stage, when they play this video.

  • MTV's FINALLY doing something good!

    Great song, btw!

Check out MK ULTRA by Muse.. It's a part of MTV's EXIT campaign too..

  • Most people have it so good... they think their life is horrible. But compared to millions of others, it is paradise.

Wake up people.... figure out who you are and why you are here. We only get one chance to get it right, so let's do it.

  • @TheStrossus How wrong you are. Yes, people can think their lives are horrible and be valid; a problem is a problem and just because it can be worse it doesn't make it okay. We seek to fix problems and better ourselves, not selfishly compare it to the less fortunate and then sit back and do nothing about our own problems. What does that accomplish? Waking up involves opening your mind beyond a black and white world. Hey maybe that kid in China has it so good compared to a kid dying of cancer...

  • @TheStrossus I can't hate this comment enough. You ridiculous, simpering douche. If we ever met, I'd take a shit on your foot, right between the toes.

  • @kaligula get in the way of morals... human exploitation isnt good; just because it happened to some people (the europeans like you said) doesnt justify it happening later to other humans.

  • @kaligula maybe, but that justification sounds a bit too "white man's burden"-y for me... i'd say that the pursuit of money/(happiness?) shouldnt get in the way pf mpra

  • I´m just an insect trying to get out of the night :'(

  • Beautiful song!

  • I was searching for this song like i dunno 2 years ! Well Awesome Video ! :/

  • Love the end. Profoundly depressing.

  • this song pours into me like liquid love... my heart = my zero

    so pure it hurts..

  • People in India or Bangladesh are often happy about those sweatshops/factories. It gives them better job opportunities than local ones. If those factories disappear they'd be forced to get worse jobs or no job at all.

Many Asian societies are going thru the process that Europe went thru in the late 18th/19th century. It's sad to see people from Europe/America protest against capitalism coz it made their own societies richer (200 years ago).

  • @kaligula11

    Capitalism is a dirty business.

  • @kaligula11 Um...you are aware that the Industrial Revolution was one of the darkest chapters of American History, right? I guess it's ok for us to let others go through it so long as we know it sucks, right? Dehumanization....what's that?

  • powerful video! Makes you think about children around the world!

  • DAMN it so sad.

  • I see one kid living a normal kid's life and the other kid working in a sweat shop. The cost of some some things are higher than you realize.

  • Honestly this music video kicks "Thriller"'s ass

  • ...so this video has absolutely nothing to do with the song..nice one MTV.

  • @xcpaco8 yeah but I'm sure the guy's from Radiohead don't mind as it is for a pretty fucking decent cause soooo

  • @xcpaco8 it's not about the relevancy. It's about the emotions. This song brings out the same emotions as the topic in the video. There's actually an interview where thom talks about your very comment. Well, not yours in particular, but the contents.

  • Such a powerful message. They need to air this on MTV in America. Maybe this will inspire us to think of something other than ourselves and really fight this crime against humanity.

  • @Casey5693 they transmited this,,,

  • @pantapdiazho They did. Yay!

  • this is so sad.... idk wither it like or dislike this video

  • 2:47 to the end

    this part OMG

    so beautiful.

  • AHA..!!! nice video

  • really hope a message such as this grows and gains momentum in a noisy world, full of distracting pointless topics and articles.

  • @1707054 Nice comment! Hope is all we have...namaste and peace

  • im sure that the video was shot in Indonesia. correct me if i am wrong.

  • your work is simply enriching.... first saw this video on EXIT festival 2 years ago.... hope to see you there, or anywhere in Serbia sometime.

  • simply wonderful. thank you Radiohead for your work...

  • Gue nggak mau bangun dari mimpi ini deh...

  • if we are not carefoll the kid on the left will put you out of work.

  • or on the right. mf..

  • Life sucks

  • Does anybody know the nationality of the asian kid? it is because I would like to use this video in a presentation and I would like to know more about that kid

  • @viniciusvrd he's indonesian

  • Down with Walmart!

  • This song like makes that mood, how those kids feel everyday.and idk why,but i feel so bad, watching how they work :[[

  • This a great video I´m braziian and It´s a big matter for here!!!!

  • this is why I hate you RICH USA...these POOR, UNEDUCATED, SLAVE children are my fellow citizen...we filipinos, dont need your sympathy!! we need freedom!

  • Dude shut up, its not like Americans do this to piss you guys off.. Stop crying because you think America is so "rich" and great, all this video is trying to show is to care for you guys and your here saying you hate USA? Fuck you

  • Sorry most of us are ignorant of where our products come from.

  • they arent the only guilts! (im not american)

  • Why do all people from poor countries always blame America or western countries? Why don't you do something to change your own country? By the way, I'm from third world country.

  • Yes because the UK is a third world country. Moron.

  • I am studying in the UK right now. I'm not from here.

  • cuz America and the western countries control the third world resources, so the third world cant do shit to improve itself

  • couse we provide jobs, the food they eat, and if they are here they could work for themself. Mighty Capitalism brings us, in the U.S to where we are? hay Ervin2 the UK is fare from third world..

  • @fellen1 we dont provide them with shit, the us is an import economy, most of our stuff is from THEM. Why do you think everything says made in china. And most clothes are created in Pakistan. And if you really think people can just move to America at a moments notice then you are being extremely naive. Capitalism helps us but Corporatism takes away from them.

  • @MyroslavMakashov u'll understand when u live in a poor country, im from Argentina, and theres nothing to do, everything its in hands of rich people, they to do things like that becouse in our owns countries life its so much worst.. by the way sorry for my bad english

  • @Dimensi0n7 slum dog millionare

  • @MyroslavMakashov

they mostly blame imperialism, which the u.s. are mostly doing to third world countries

& why they are not trying to change their own country? because obviously they don't have control, only the ones who are imperialising it

and if you are from the third world, how come you don't see it from your very eyes?

  • so what if it doesnt have anything to do with the video..

its a good song choice because it helps set the mood for what there trying to express!

  • What on earth does this song have to do with the video?

The messages are completely unrelated to one another.

They're both great pieces, but they don't quite fit together.

  • i guess... you help is all they need?

  • i like this song.. stop talking about ideologies.. this isnt the right place for that..

  • And since when does MTV play music?

  • @degree7 It's like that movie, Kickin' it old school! He wakes up from a coma of 20 years, and puts on MTV, present day, and is like "Mom, something's wrong with the TV! I'm watching MTV, but there's no music videos, it's just a bunch of girls crying!!"

  • 1 step forward and 2 steps back

  • the right side screen is in indonesia..

  • STOP! Then fucking do something about it instead of sitting, typing up this bullshit nonsence, please?

  • no matter what u argue on this issue the bottom line is there are kids put into slavery and its wrong...who gives a fuck about shoes and clothes.

  • Why are people talking about deep stuff on youtube?

  • In case you're not joking around... why would people about "deep stuff" in general?

  • we can do these trivial things and enjoy them or cry for the rest of our lives. which of course that way you won´t enjoy it but neither all of these people.

So i choose to care about trivial shit and have a happy life instead of nonsense crying

  • I am very desensitized. Only one of Radiohead's songs can bring tears to my eyes. Damn im impressed.

  • this is a holy truth. Poor boys.

  • This video should be shown on every T.V. station at 9:00 pm every night 365 days a year including every cable channel as well

  • @bigfoothunter666 what?! how's your sister ever gonna see it? or you - which ever's the female of the family

  • @tomuchcoffeeman WHATS YOUR FUCKING PROBLEM BUDDY BOY

  • so damn inspiring and eye-opening.

    radiohead is genius... every time!

  • this video should make us feel guilty for the privelidged lives we lead. the boy on the left must be taught about the boy on the right and the truth about suffering. poverty is the majority, we are all ignorant to that. this is one of the most moving videos (and songs) ever

  • It's not about making us feel guilty, there's certainly no need for guilt, that's a bit far fetched. It's more about awareness and lack of ignorance. I f anything, it's about us being thankful and happy for the life we lead, and that we should collectively aim to make more lives as priveliged as ours.

  • very well said sir!

  • but do you whant to know?

truth be told , everyone knows there are millions of people without education , rights , food , homes,

    but do we care???????

    nope

we chose to turn our heads and live in some make believe world of ours . please take a look around ...this world is complete shit , we are all selfish bastards that only care about trivial , material things ...i mean that is why we all have jobs and cars and computers and youtube accounts . im just gona continue with my pitty worries

  • Well said. I'm glad someone else is aware of how much we deserve to go extinct.

  • OUR SOCIETY NEEDS TO GO EXTINCT

but humans are pretty cool for the most part

    love , and what not

we need to change , now

or we will go extinc , if we havent lost our humanity already

    like i like to say

    all or nothing

    either we all are rich

    or none of us are

  • ok, my comment has NOTHING to do with capitalism or all that. Just something I noticed in the video that piqued my curiosity...

Why is the woman on the 'child labour' side of the video speaking Malay? I considered the possibility of it being Indonesian but the accent is definitely Malaysian.

There are OTHER countries where this issue is FAR worse and children are forced into labour in larger numbers in underground factories where they make wallets/handbags/shoes/etc.

    Just pointing that out.

  • this is definitely a good video. I want to say something about the capitalism/socialism debate, but I don't know a whole lot about it. (I wish some other people wouldn't talk when they don't know what they are talking about) I think socialism is a bad idea and i think this is a more anti-corruption video than an anti-capitalism stunt. so...uhm, you guys are nazis.

  • Read about socialism, the idea is not bad, but in the real life the whole thing is sux becouse the corruption.

  • SOCIALISM IS IMPOSSIBLE,EVERYONE IS CORRUPT , EVEN YOU AND ME, BUT MAYBE YOU DON'T KNOW IT.

mOST OF PEOPLE think they're doing good things when actually they don't.

  • word

  • go back to polishing you rifle and leave the thinking to the unarmed agents of change

  • keep a shotgun underneath your bed

  • my my my. negativity like this will never help this world. corruption is everywhere but can you do more good than bad before your turned? is it possible to deny our selfish nature? shit i think so. so please dont generalize everyone like youv lived in the lives of everyone trying to do good. theres good but selfish people out here so i DO agree with you but only to an extent.

  • people...you are stupid..i can honestly say...how long will you be afraid of those small numbered jerks who control your lives...thru television...or commercials..or anything that gets to your ears...all acting ..all lies..no god,no love,no heaven,no hell, there is just this earth you can see...all around it,and you standing on it...just standing there and working like an ant...and hoping it will be better..will you be happy?..are you free? FUCKIN NO! Y_Y

  • stop exloitation! Damn the capitalism!

  • Capitalism is each individual making choices for himself.

Socialism is those who claim to know best, making your choices for you.

The former is freedom. The latter is anything but.

  • Capitalism worked for a while. But no longer. It's outgrown itself. We need a form of 'semi-socialism'.

  • You're a fucking idiot.

  • you don't know much about socialism or capitalism or anything don't you? cause that "freedom" you are refering to in your capitalism sentence is actualy what we call "democracy" .

tell you what...capitalism is just one thing:"survival of the fittest"

...and it works cause this is what evolution does for a couple of million years.cause after all...people are just animals...animals with bigger brains to build citys, computers and spaceships.

  • that boy(or kids like him) in that movie is most probably working for a capitalist company...that just doesn't give a damn about human rights.and maybe you're are wearing shoes like the ones he made...maybe i do too...sad enough...

well...actually...socialism isnt such a bad thing at all...its build upon the idea of social justice and solidarity and also freedom of course.what you were talking about is actually communism wich is quite different in many aspects..especially its totalitarian one.

  • please...read a book or two before making that kind of statements ;-)

unforunatly that kind of system doesn't work very well in practice cause there will allways be people

trying to exploit it for their own benifit.(i live in eastern germany...and i guess we all know how it worked out for us ;-) )

so after all...socialism isnt such a good idea at all...but i would say the same thing about capitalism.

maybe there should just be something in between...

     (Sry for kind "spamming") ;-)

  • Socialism didn't work out in East Germany because it was basically just a satellite country for the USSR.

  • your point?...

  • Comment removed

  • Staggeringly pretentious.

  • the video is good but has absolutely nothing to do with the song, sure the beat went in sync with it but still.

  • Your completely wrong mate.

  • well (and dont take this as me being a smart ass) can you tell me what it means, cause i probably just dont get it

  • Well being as the name called All I Need, If your looking at the video, You see a happy boy, Not concerned on what was sacrificed to make some of the necessities that he uses daily. On the other half you see a young boy, Having to work early in the mornin, and probably late into the night with minimal food.

  • ohhhh i see sorry dude my bad, thanks.

  • No problem :P

  • Of course I see this, And I completely agree.

  • Don't be a fool. Without listening to our elders, we would be nothing. If children were left without guidance, who knows what would happen.

    For example

I listen to Radiohead (my elders)

They show me the way to go :)

  • this is what globalization is doing the controlling oligarchy bribes the top officials of a developing countries and then and loan sharks them to death. When that is done the go one to exploit the resources at their liking..unfortunately a lot of those resources happen to be people. The USA managed to put that off for a while when Andrew Jackson defeated the world bank. Until 1912 when the same scoundrels posed as the American Federal Reserve. Now we are on the slippery slope CARBON CREDIT OHH

  • such a beautiful song

  • Children shouldnt be made to work like that, It's just not fair

  • Roygbiv what?

  • Oh boy, this was one awesome live song last year on the tour!

  • The start of the song seems like "Philadelphia song". =D

    But It's very goos song!

One of the best in this album(in my opinion).
