...though I would add that certain things are just better when keyframing. I like to do lipsynchs the old fashioned way to catch inflection/nuanced stuff. Having said that, it's at *least* awesome for doing comps for more intricate work later on.

I've been into Flash since it was Macromedia's version 3... it's amazing now, and it can do just about anything, but it seems to have stemmed over more into a webdev app (reminds me of VB Studio), which is actually where I seem to use it the most.

As far as tweening = cheating-I dunno. It's not cheating in the 3D animation world to rig and animate, so I don't see a problem w/a tween'd walk cycle. Hell, South Park isn't even keyframed- for tight deadlines, this is a lifesaver.

I hate how people think this program sucks because it doesn't. Anything can look like it "sucks" with the wrong assumptions. It really depends on how the characters are drawn and set up, not the program. You can make really awesome characters on this program with time and effort, people.

@MetalFluffyNinja1 No it's not. The bone tool in Flash CS5 is nowhere near as developed as the one in Anime Studio a few years ago was. Flash is good for animating with symbols but if you want to use bones and tweening, it's pretty much crap and way too complicated for what you can achieve with it.

@k1ssmyc0w flash is good for some projects, but it's more time consuming for similar results. People with family, work, or intensive school obligations sometimes just want make a picture move and maybe tell a story, which is all "real" animation is. Anime studio has a more balanced time spent to output ratio, especially after you finish initial model and set building. Flash is awesome, but not the best fit for everyone.

@angus0meatwhistle i used adobe flash cs4 to made my Ickie animation ... lots of ways on animating you're character using flash.. u can try FRAME BY FRAME..PUPPET or PIVOT ANIMATION and SKELETON.. lot of ways :) u'll find it easy when u get used to it.. Flash is user friendly for both animators and programmers/developers....

I don't like the work flow in Anime studio it's not artist orientated,no good drawing tools for people who like to hand draw lines,i suggest they rip it up and start from scratch it's piss poor!

Toonboom just acquired the rights to Animo and Animo is world's better than Anime studio. Though I would only use anime studio if I wanted to create highly detailed character animation that would be too labor intensive for hand drawn animation techniques.

What do you mean by custom image. Like an image you imported if so. You add the bone layer drag the image in. double click the image layer and at the top of the window that as just created click image. Then check the box that says "Warp using bones" or something close to that depending on the version you have.

Go to goole look up Papagayo. That program should help it works with anime studio to lip sync for you. You just load the audio and type in what the audio is saying and bingo automated lip syncing.
