  • Your pretty good, but again, the Canadian accent is atrocious. Why don't you add a convincing Boston accent or Maine?

  • Just wanted to note, that when someone is out & out learning a language (let's say French), it is important to use the accent associated with that language instead of a Canadian or American stress on said newly learned language :)

  • she is really good

  • i always crack up laughing at 5:04

  • @jeremimi i cracked up AFTER that when she said: Oh my god... you excist.

  • she's lovely! i think i might have actually fallen for her during these, i don't know, 7, 10, 15 minutes!

  • a woman u'd never get bored talking to

  • I keep falling in love with her

  • This is my 100th time watching this!

    And, you love amy?

    GROSSS!!!!

  • Such a beautiful girl

  • Amy, I know you probably won't read this, but I just wanted to tell you that I just fell in love with you. You have a very funny personality and a great energy... and a beautiful mouth and nice cheekbones :)

  • Where do you start if you're fascinated by it ALL?

  • @LukaTunaLuvr03 These are just tips, do whatever feels comfortable.

  • I'm truly fascinated by languages / accents because its like thinking a whole new way. Some words in our vocabulary may not be in another language so it requires us to express our feelings with other words we don't commonly use. You can be from anywhere you want to be.

  • Pretty sure her original accents is the 1930s announcer...

  • she is sexay!!

  • woahh i thought you were Aussie

  • Sadly, I'm fascinated by your eyes, I don't think that helps me with the accent thing.

  • I KNEW YOU WERE AMERICAN.

  • Bottle-o? I've never heard of that and I'm Australian, of course we call it a liquor store. And Australians mostly use Pharmacy rather then Chemist.

  • @Roofhack Lol, really? A fair few people I know call it a 'bottle-o'

  • @Roofhack where abouts in aus because ive never heard an aussie say liquor store with out being sarcastic i use bottle-o i use chemist more than pharmacy because its shorter

  • i dont know how i can do so many accents 0.o ive never been to any of the places to pick it up lol

  • I like the accents from3.09 and 5.07...!

  • Your the best person ever.

  • u are amazing..my new inspiratioonn!!

  • i can't tell what her actual accent is.

  • Comment removed

  • YOU are amazing. great, its really interesting to watch .

    :D

  • She is amazing! She does every accent so well! I honestly don't know what her real accent is! She's so interesting and engaging. I feel like she's talking to me, not a camera!

  • What's her real accent???

  • @taytaylovescookies She's from the Seattle area. However she's affecting that silly, obsolete '30's, '40's Transatlantic accent. A self-important "actress" accent.

  • She reminds me so much of... me...

  • You are wonderful.

  • so true !! When u'r fascinated by an accent u master it !!

  • @amiablewalker may i ask what your real accent is..because you are so good i just cant tell..im wracking my brains lol

  • She Fascinates me! I love her accents!

  • Perhaps the prettiest girl i have ever seen in my life. And sure got the smarts too =D

  • she looks like the girl in karmincovers. i think her name is also amy lol.

  • grammatics is not a word...

  • @leebeegee yeah it is

  • I'd like to challenge her. I'll make a list of accents up to 15 different accents and have them presented to you, she has a week to get the accents ready, then at the end of the week she makes a video with the 15 accents and comments posted must only be ratings on the accents presented to her. Think about it and respond to the comment if you wanna give it a try :) like she said all the best and... lets have some fun :D YAAAAAAY! Oh and one other thing. I just can't get over how beautiful she is!

  • What does a Welsh accent sound like?

  • I think this is the bipolar sickness !!

  • @Gukeriya it's called acting

  • She's just awsome ! I was captivated the whole two parts !

She could be a damn good teacher.

  • I admit, I was paying more attention to Amy's smile than her accent. Of course, I was still listening to her. She is just that captivating! She draws you into whatever she says with such ease and flair! I'm absolutely SMITTEN!!

  • this woman is so captivating!! ..and so talented! my favourite bit is noticing how her facial expressions change with her accent.. shes spot on... although being an aussie myself, ive gotta the 'bottle-o' bit was schmick but she lost the accent when she got to saying 'chemist'.. :P

  • .....You exist! o.o

  • I think this is also very helpful for people learning a foreign language. It seems that a lot of people approach a language mostly as the substitution of words (like Google Translate, which often just doesn't work). There is a lot more to that, subtleties in grammar, melody, use of words, the way sounds are made etc.

  • I don't care if I'm hopeless at learning new accents, because you are just so interesting to listen to :D

  • I wish people still spoke like they were in the 1930s.

  • You're so beautiful, i like your smile. Keep on posting more vids on accent. They're really helping. Thanks alot.

  • @rangauthier ...she said grammatics

  • For my different voices i just take a sound or word i really like then i try and apply that too every word spoken!

  • YOU EXIST!!! lol...

  • I still love you... I think I would probably marry you simply for the inspirational and entertainment value of being with you every day.

  • i cant tell what accent you have originally!!!

  • @mangofiend333 On her Facebook page, it says she is from Seattle, Washington.

  • @mangofiend333 northern american accent..

  • @mangofiend333 sounds like shes from cali

  • @mangofiend333 She's from Langley, Washington :)

  • What is your own actual accent!? Can't work it out, you change it so much.

  • Part 4: Grammar and Words.....I think you are referring to collocations, syntax, and vocabulary not grammar. But, quite helpful suggestions overall. :)

  • this girl is so fascinating to watch

  • where are you from??

  • @AgnesandKatie Originally, she's from Seattle, Washington.

  • Can you do non-western accents?

  • This woman is fascinating and engaging! It doesn't even feel like she's talking to a camera, she makes you feel like she's actually talk to YOU.

I also find it funny that every time she starts talking about exerting an 'attitude' and 'feeling the accent' or 'finding the groove or flow', she always does the Brooklyn accent. I guess that's her idea of one of the most expressive accents out there lol.

  • This Video was so helpfull, thankyou, and goodluck with everything you do :)

  • OK WERE THE FUK R U FROM

  • @redscott66 jesus her bio is all over the internet. she's american

  • @MsParisHitler well im not a stalker

  • @redscott66 reading someone's wikipedia page is hardly stalking ;)

  • @MsParisHitler lol ~salute nazi style~ heil fuhrer

  • @redscott66 thats what a stalker would say

  • yes, I once had a mananger who spoke with his teeth closed the whole time. He was Indian. I remember wondering, "does he ever feel pain in his jaw bone?"

  • The Australian accent you use seems a bit thick... or maybe I just don't notice it. Julia Gillard has a rather thick Australian accent but most people dont. At least you arent saying "gooday mate!"

  • i have no idea which accent is how you actually talk, youre too good haha!

  • you are freaken awesome.

  • so....... I'm posting this at 5:30 in the morning.... because i just found out I have a callback and need a German accent by 9:00...... I'm screwed.........

  • god i love that australian accent so much <3

  • haha i pannicked when you said a drug store in aus haha

  • soo true when i went to canada i always used to say 'i reckon' and my friend thought i was weird cause she said 'i think'

  • You remind me vocally (when you don't seem to be doing an accent) of a cousin of mine who lives in Oregon, when you pronounce your Rs. There's a little "smooshiness" to them like you're rolling them a little. I know a lot of West Coast dwellers that do it. Either that or you did in on purpose cause I'll never know. ;D

  • You're amazing. i've been studying for an english language international exam and was searching for the best accent that would fit me durring the speaking test and bumped into your videos. And well.. i got inspired and i think i'm about to let go of the technical and formal aspects of studying that and get onto that which speaks authenticaly inside us. The rithm and vibe tips were the best ever. thanks a lot.

  • She's from Seattle. She says so at the end of her Today Show interview

  • I think she's from the midwest cuz she rolls her r's slightly.

  • I have never commented on any youtube video before. I must say that you are the most intelligent person I have even seen in my whole life. I am in my late twentys, i am a professional and I have travelled in many countries but I have never seen anybody with such a extra ordinary skill. I am totally gobsmacked and perhaps in love with u..

  • @mghjik

    Hey now! She's taken ;>)

About her being intelligent... that came to me right away...she acts, sings, plays musical instruments, Quite a Jewel.

    Shido Aki

  • I think you should try acting. Your face is so expressive. You remind me of Meryl Streep.

  • You really know what you're doing, and I appreciate that. I can see how you've incorporated each thing you talk about into your performance... Thank you for these!

  • so true. When i was a little girl I was absolutely fasinated byt the "Th" sound in english (Im from denmark) and I wanted to learn that sound so bad that each time I saw an english speaker on tellie Id study their mouth intensely and practise. In Denmark we dont have the "Th" sound like the english has. My teachers were amazed that I did it so well LOL Another tip I got from a teacher early on was "If you wanna be really good at english learn how to think english"

  • /watch?v=oztDzgUYwZQ

  • I totally love people with rich mimics and a wide range of emotions in their speech, so I just smiled throughout the whole video :) The thing is, it would be interesting to watch you actually speak french, russian, italian, whatever. When you speak with those accents in english, it sounds a bit... comic? LIke in a movie when you want everybody understand that a character is italian, for instance, you do a stereotypical accent that sounds a bit funny.

  • totally dateable

  • I loved the punk/attitude one I AM FASINATED BY VIBES How did you pull it off???

  • Very useful. You have a very interesting approach on accent learning; it's really remarkable. Also, and I say this in the most uncreepy way (is that a word?), you are ABSOLUTELY beautiful.

But getting back to the accents, kudos!

It's nice to see people out there that are also fascinated by things like accents. Thank you.

  • You made me fascinated!! :D Thanks!

  • This is really very interesting!

It's especially fascinating to watch how you switch between different accents so easily and in such a fluent way, it's almost as if it's done without thinking about it.

  • I would love some dessert.

  • Brilliant.

  • Wow, you would had been the perfect double-agent in World war 2

  • 0:43 "because english"

    try to learn serbian... :D

  • you are all kinds of captivating

  • south african :')

  • 2:35 she sound like J WOW from jersey shore hahaha

  • Yup, she`s great.

  • She's oddly interesting to listen to.

  • @MuqqZy it's because of her weird face expressions... she is too expressive, and i think that our brains recieves so much information from her expressions that we stay looking at her wondering: why she express so much with her face but doesn't look like she's hiding something?...

  • The 5th category made 36 accounts to dislike the video because it didn't get a special cut-in.

  • i want her to do an indian accent

  • @SouthIndianbb101 oh yeah definitely.

  • you incredibly brillant ;)

  • i bet ur boyfriend would never win an argument over u

  • hahaha so funny when she talked like the guy who never opened his jaw!

  • Your affection and enthusiasm for language and inflection are infectious. Is this your passion? Or are you into dramatic arts? I hope to pursue linguistics at some point. I find the subject of inflection and intonation fascinating (I'm also a musician). Your video is wonderfully educational. Thanks!

  • I think female british accents are SO HOT! Like Lucy Pinder

  • I like how she says yeah after every sentence... yeah.

  • You should learn a Newfoundland accent, they're always fun :P

  • i no someone just like amy walker she can sing and act really well she always makes me laugh but she is a young carer she looks after her mum with MS and brother who is blind and her dad has anger ishues so she often comes into school with cuts and burns on her hands and face she is the funnyest person i know thumbs up for rosa .

  • @TheHUG118 tell her that I will pary for her

  • I really can't figure out her natural accent, and her 1940's accent creeps me out...

  • you are kind of weird...talented, but weird

  • i wanna know what her real accent sounds like and where she from anyone know ?

  • Press two repeatedly hehehe ^_^

  • What is your real accent? English or American?

  • Love the transatlantic accent.

  • @LapisGarter Me too! I love that time period as well.

  • Amazing... astonishing... entrancing... lovely... I am lost what to say and how to properly applaud you on what you are and what you are doing. In short I can say: A magical personality with a magical way of doing things.

  • I can do a british accent actually very well is what all my friends and family say and I just woke up one day and just started messing around with my mom and we were doing accents and just goofing off and I thought I'd try it and my dad said that because most of my family side is from england and over there that I probably have it naturally @amiablewalker Do you think that posibly could be true?

  • I just love how sometimes your voice can just naturally flow into different accents :) That must take so much work, as you said thousands of hours work. Brilliant help by the way :)

  • You are truly amazing and lovely! I feel privileged for you to post youtube videos!

  • try somebody on... really... i bet she regretted that one

  • You are adorable! Where are you really from?!?

  • Comment removed

  • '... you exist(!)' hahahaha.

  • what if you have mixed accents? Suttle California accent, drawing out my a's like a Spokane boy, pronouncing my o's and ou's like a Canadian...

  • not to sound creepy but how old are you (in order to properly figure out when language had the ability to change and transform into something entirely different. also to figue out how long you have been doing this for because i am thoroughly impressed and entertained i have done a bit of practice with a scottish accent and i think i've got it down but perhaps not with all of the subtleties and observations you said to consider... absolutely brilliant!!! also i think you are quite beautiful.

  • Wow girl, you're amazing! This video is throroughly awesome!!

  • You are so pleasant, soulful and beautiful teacher. So even a dumb will start speaking when s/he learns under your brilliant guidance....

  • It takes 10,000 hours to master something.

If you do it full time, 40hours p/e week, expect to be a master in 5 years.

  • you so charming woman i ever seen

  • hahaha 4:16

  • wch is ur original, real accent??..

  • 0:35 Yeah... that pretty much describes English. I feel sorry for foreigners.

  • Omigosh, hahah, I actually tried out the posh one at 5:00 and got stuck doing that! XD I'm so glad I'm not the only person who loves doing accents. Yours are beyond awesome, and you express them so well! But, man, you just nailed it when you talked about the vibe of a person---conveying the attitude is the most important (and funnest) part of doing accents. That's why yours are so awesome; you really put the right emotions and gestures into them! You're so awesome! :D

  • This is absolutely GENIUS.

  • You are fantastic girl.......... so cool.

  • IDEA!!! You should do a fun set of videos with your different personas just interacting

  • Shes born in Seattle, Washington. I looked it up on google:P

  • OMG i love you this was great

  • "...you exist?!?"

  • i love listening to you talk <3

  • I think it's really good that I cannot tell which our of a few of those accents is your real one! You sound so authentic in each accent that pretty much any of them could be your accent that you use every day in your "normal" life. Great work! Subscribed!

  • the 30's microphone one got me. love that, lol!

BTW 36 people must be deaf and/or blind.
