  • He's an expert on the Bible isn't he? So why he commenting on a range of matters which have nothing whatsoever to do with the Bible and which the Bible says nothing about?

  • @Resenbrink The bible is not a textbook, but it does give us what we need for living in any culture, meaning it has something to say, through its principles, about every aspect of life.

  • @foucachon - that sounds as though you mean it's meaning has to be perceived through interpretation and I guess we know what that leads to - a myriad of different interpretations. I fail to see how a 2,000 year old text is applicable to the requirements for life in any culture.

  • piercings are not a fad they have been around for centuries, and the more you confine your kids with rules the more rebellious they will be. If you let them be themselves they'll figure out themselves what is morally right and wrong, thats life you learn from your mistakes.

  • Thank God parents don't let kids "learn from their mistakes" and get themselves killed.

  • @ThaProductor

"If you let them be themselves they'll figure out themselves what is morally right and wrong, that's life you learn from your mistakes."

--Like we see in the ghettos right?

  • Yay for teaching people to think...

  • This guy always has interesting things to say. However, I find his views on southern slavery to be sickening. As with all Christian leaders, they are just men; fallible, but often, quite worthwhile.

  • "One cannot defend the abuse some slaves had to endure. None can excuse the immorality some masters and overseers indulged in with some slave women. The separation of families that sometimes occurred was deplorable. These were sad realities in the Southern system.

We have no interest in defending the racism (in both the North and the South) which was often seen as the basic justification for the system, and we do in fact condemn it most heartily." - Wilson What do you oppose???

  • My perspective (and I'm not Christian): He isn't so much condoning slavery by today's standards, but by the standards of the time in which those passages that justify slavery were written. He doesn't condone the awful things that people in the Bible did, but he does recognise that you can't place blame on modern Judeo-Christian people for the actions of their distanc ancestors.

  • check out the canonpress website and the integrated life talks, they go into this in more depth. Excellent.

  • Jeremy, first you quote him making the point that each pop culture fad is fleeting. Then you use that to say he's afraid of the world, and is a cult leader? I think you skipped a couple of steps there, bro. But we get it... you have a knee-jerk response to moral teaching and want to get to the point that he must be a looney, without doing all that thinking crap in between. But I'm sure all the parents will heed your warning. THUMBS UP!! KEEP COMMENTING!!! SAVE US!!!

  • ggggggggggggggg

  • well said.......

  • This is the first time I've actually heard Wilson speak, but I've read a few of his short books and a couple of issues of Credenda. As always, he makes a good point.

  • Great video. I am a fan of Wilson's, but until now I have never actually seen him speak. As always, what he had to say in the is quite worth while.

Look at his profile pictures, it's heavy!

  • I have read several of his books and seen him speak in Orlando. I also used to receive Cradenda-Agenda (his magazine)

He is very smart but holds very unusal views (his obsession a few years back on black confederates?) We agree on nothing i guess, i mean we are believers in Christ but....thats all. maybe thats enough though, Peace

  • Well, I'll bet you both agree that the war in Iraq was a mistake. So there's that...

  • hehe, no he isn't :-)

All you have to do is understand what type of person Bill London and Nick Gier are, and the rest is self-explanatory.

  • This guy doesn't seem half as scary as what Nick Gier or Bill London would make you think. In fact---I kinda agree with the guy---

  • @nowinseason lol, yeah! Gier and London seem to be bitter people just railing against Wilson because he's a Christian, but they can't admit it's because he's a Christian (otherwise nobody would join their cause) so they find something like "slavery," twist words, and get everyone in an uproar. These same people did the same thing to me. They didn't like me, so they smeared my name using something completely irrelevant (wasn't too bad in my case - I really didn't care)
