@rukeyser I spoke with her son a few days ago. He says every F&D CD now available is pirated and not great quality. He is working on new digital remasters with Fraser and the man who initially introduced the duo to each other.
@rukeyser I am used to listening to a cassette tape my dad made of the rare LP probably before I was born. Now I listen to 160k MP3 I made 10 years ago from that cassette tape. It will be very cool to hear a higher-quality version.
I was talking to Daisy's son because he is selling off some of her instruments and we are honoured to now own her mandolin.
I saw a band called Daisy Fraser at Douglas Park community centre in Vancouver late 60.s or 1970 . Drummer was a huge (fat guy).A guy we knew wanted to fight him and beat him up cause he was so fat but I thought they were a good and original sounding band, and played good rock music. Is this the same people? I think they might be.
during the years only came across a HANDFUL of people who heard of them
now ? there is a discovery happening which makes me so happy . seems the person who posted the tune is early twenties ! to me they are one of the original art punk bands.
outside the box.
lyrics are pure poetry.
had to replace my original album a few years back , you can find them on ebay
buy the album ( vinyl is so much warmer) you will love every tune
Been waiting a long time for them to show up here, some of the finest music of the period that has disappeared and is virtually unknown today, never released on CD. Please please anything else---Overnight Sensation, Dancehall Girls, Stormy Day, anything...it's been too long.
Allan Fraser, Daisy DeBolt, and Ian Guenther performed at my college back in the early 70's and changed my life. I saw the raw power that acoustic music could have, the dynamics, the sex... They left a lasting impression.
Magic and mystery...romantic intensity and raw, raw beauty. As pure as anything you can choose to listen to.
