Thanks for uploading this. It's just great. I saw the movie in the theatre when it came out but was not sophisticated enough to appreciate Schifrin's score. Please don't get me wrong but as great as this is, to my ears it is written almost entirely in an idiom originated by Henry Mancini. I'm not an expert but would I be wrong if I said that Schifrin is orchestrating and composing here in the "School of Mancini"? He has a harder edge than Mancini, but my ears are hearing that master throughout.
I've been to San Fran; and walked the streets where the chase scene was filmed. God, the suspension damage for a Mustang GT 390 Fastback and a Charger would have been murder (if you have seen the film, you know what I mean.) Movie bugets during this time must have been worth it. It was for this film.
Yes, thank you! Where did you find the original soundtrack of Bullitt? There's another "original" soundtrack that's being sold, but it's really also just a different version of it. I would like to know where you bought this, if you don't mind. Thanks!
@TheAntiquarian The film version of the soundtrack was finally released just a few years ago, unfortunately according to my copy it was limited to just 3,000 pressings so it's going to be more expensive. You can still find it on Amazon, though, if you search for "Bullitt (Complete Original Tracks)". Don't worry about the first review, the first disc is the re-recorded versions, but the second disc has all the original film versions of the songs.
THANKS SO MUCH! Been looking for this for a long time, even did a remake of the actual movie music to fill in the parts covered by the movie sounds, then... after months of searching and after all the hard work I find THIS! Liked and favorited!
This and Lalo's score to "Dirty Harry",are his finest,in my opinion.Mind you,his score(very different to these)to "The eagle has landed",i think ranks as one of his best as well.
An absolute legend, and my dad had the fortune to meet the guy

The 1 dislike must be from Walter Chalmers because Bullitt wouldn't give him his witness. ;)

@TheAntiquarian I actually got it from someone who seems to have access to lots of scores, but I don't know how. He's a composer, though.
