This is my hood yall are talking about. And i came up in 1990. When Brightmoore was the heroin haven of the westside. I agree with the the urban farming they plan on doing. There really is no other reasonable resolution.

I know a family that owns over 100 rental properties in this area. They have owned them since the 70s. It has been a warzone for many many years. I have not been to this area since 1990.

Thank you for the glimmer of hope. I grew up there. What I am wondering is where is that garden?? I visit the area sometimes and I have never heard of it, or where it is located. The neighborhood looks like Rouge Park area. I don't know if that is considered Brightmoor.

@Muunlite1 I tend to think along immediate lines and things I can do with my own two hands...if a hundred of us got together, knocked down abandoned houses and the city came and took away the remnants, we could install apple orchards, pumpkin patches, fruit trees of all kinds, cornfields, vegetable gardens of all kinds. All available for the community....who's in??? Seriously, let's do this. There are blocks in brightmoor that have all vacant lots with maybe one vacant house left standing.

Through the early 80's I went to Redford Lutheran on Grandriver, now gone. Alot of the students were from Brightmoor. These were hard working, blue collar families. Mostly two parents in every house. We can come up with all kinds of reasons for the change,but the neighborhood wasnt neglected like this. people were more responsible for the children back then. they owned lawnmowers, even if they were renting. Everyone holds everyone else responsible today. Thats not my job, is all you hear.
