  • I picked up Pabst Blue Ribbon one day on a whim, because of the price. At the time, I didn't know it was a trendy "hipster" beer. I took it home, drank it, and liked it. I've bought it many times since learning that it's a hipster beer. I'm tired of that hipster stigma. It's so silly, and pointless. Who gives a shit, though, right? You like what you like. Drink what you like. I do. I'm finishing off a 12 pack of Blue Ribbon right now. :) Cheers.

  • @WehrmachtLuftwaffe I agree. People should drink what they like and not worry about what other people like. I only brought up the hipster thing because that is an important part of the resurgence of Pabst Blue Ribbon.

  • It's so good it has a ribbon on it

  • @hctimhtims Just one of many reasons for its awesomeness.

  • Its a shitty beer but it gets u drunk!

  • @plainoldstickfight Most of them do if you drink enough.

  • I like Pabst a lot for what it is. I know there are obvious stigmas to the beer as it was adopted by the counter culture of Portland, Oregon back in the early part of last decade, and morphed into this underground sensation after being considered left for dead in the 80s and 90s. But it's good. I have no complaints. And all my cool friends drink it. Ha! I do agree that the price is slowly rising, but the reasons are as much economical as anything else.

  • @spewintothis I don't crave Pabst these days, but I would never turn one down - wait - I never turn any beer down.

  • After many years of AAL lagers I decided to give good old PBR a try and I'm glad I did, hands down it has better balance and is more drinkable than the others, and I can actually taste some hops in there.

And as far as price is concerned, I picked up a 12 pack of PBR for the same price as a 6 pack of the others. As far as AAL's go...its blue ribbon for me.

  • im white trash and im in trouble! :D

  • I think it's a typical American mass-produced beer. If it's $1-$2 at the bar, I'll definitely choose it over a BMC product. However, I've noticed the price has been inching up lately, and now it's comparable to most mainstream lagers for the price. Too bad.

  • @jackrm That was thing I read when I was doing my research. This beer is definitely getting more expensive.

  • Seriously, I don't mind this beer. Goes good with Domino's pizza. FUGG YEAH!

  • I give it a 7....out of 100. Hah!

  • @CJBegnaud More like ...out of 1000. Hah!

    That's ten times funnier. :)

  • but doesn't this beer turn you into white trash? (south park)

  • I am a big fan of Pabst Blue Ribbon, I have been drinking it since I was a youngin. When it comes to a cheap and GOOD lager. Pabst is the way to go!

  • hieniken is hipster beer pbr is over all classic just like coca cola.....so i like pabst and lucky strikes but im no hipster

  • old style over pbr any day it tastes better and just as cheap

  • @BootyFreak69 Where do you buy Old Style? State? I haven't seen it in a while.

  • @AgileHProductions old style has been and will always be all over the chicagoland area you can find it just about anywhere over here great after work beer plus its kraeusened whatever that means. looking forward to more reviews try some brews from goose island and three floyds please

  • Perfect! Haha, I love the passion (not the beer). If I'm going for something cheap, which tends to be an adjunct lager of sorts, I'll almost always choose PBR. For what it is, it's not half bad. Rather entertaining video.

P.s. I appreciate your dick opinions, Mark.

  • The name of the beer sounds like a grandpa beer but it's pretty good and about $2 a 24 oz can ;) that's what I love about it.

  • This is my go to cheap cheap ass beer, though I rarely drink it (because I try to avoid cheap beer at all cost). But if it were between PBR, Miller Lite, Bud Lite or Coors its PBR every time.

  • i work in a liquor store and the people that buy PBR are either old as dirt, white trash, or young people that just want a cheap drunk. i've had this beer and it was far below average even to BMC standards. i would rather be sober than be stuck drinking PBR. anything less than craft usually won't get the time of day from me, but that's just my beer snob coming out. cheers!

  • @MrDonamus Does the liquor store you work at have a good beer selection?

  • @AgileHProductions yes! we have the best selection on this side of town. not in the city, but we have a lot of the craft beers (bell's, founders, st bernardus, chimay, rochefort trappiste, etc). way too many to list. just makes my heart sad that someone would drink PBR and nothing else thinking that it's probably the best there is lol

  • The one comment I find funny is Chef saying that of he asks his wife for a beer he would like this as he doesn't want to tell his wife a style.... Hell, I would take ANY style over adjunct. Obvously I still like the BBA and will continue watching, but some of the comments are just weird to me. Don't blame me for my snobbiness, blame Stone Brewery for training me. :(

  • @pizzaman123 We welcome the snobs with open arms. They just have to tolerate the weird comments. :)

  • MARK SMITH, LIKE A BOSS.

  • Just an overall pleasant beer. Nothing wrong with it. Just do not like how the popularity has driven the price of it up and Hipsters who are anti establishment have made it establishment. Which is something I cannot figure out considering it is contract brewed by Miller/Coors. How is that anti-establishment? I would have Schlitz Gusto or Genny Cream Ale over this

  • I would like to apologize to BBA for my nasty review. I was fresh off of watching Marquez/Pacquiao 3 last night on Hbo and was incensed by the robbery on the cards and then watched this video. I like all the fellas that review the beer, but I was just steaming when I wrote the comment. Please forgive my outburst. Having said that, I still rate Pabst as shit. The reviewer who rated it highly, showed poor standards by rating it so high. Speaks more of him than the beer.

  • @CraigKramer No worries. I hope you will continue to watch. We have come a long way in our beer journey, but still have a long way to go.

  • Okay. Not quite. I was trying to fit all of my thoughts into the amount of space allowed. AB-INBEV. I was being sarcastic because Bud is foreign now. I DO like other foreign beers, but I have boycotted any and all AB-INBEV products. Not necessarily because they are not American owned but because I don't like AB, their business practices, nor do I like any of their beers. The entire company is just one big commodity company. So... Yes I do like foreign beers.

  • @brandon0409 Got it. Thanks for the explanation. I would hate for you to miss out on some of the tasty imported beers.

  • Life is too short to drink watery shit like this.

  • @albedo0point39 I'm surprised at how much this beer has divided everyone. People seem to love it or hate it.

  • @AgileHProductions You can't buy it in the UK. I'm a fan of Dennis Hopper and had to try some, so I had a case shipped in from Germany so that I could try it.

I can appreciate why it appeals as a 'session drink' (and it's better than Bud), but it's really thin and pretty tasteless. There are so many other more tasty beers out there... I can't see how this could get a 6 or 7 on any scale.

Personally I prefer bitter as a session beer - London Pride or something like that.

  • @albedo0point39 Shipped from Germany? That's dedication. This is just a so-so beer, but it is a decent session beer for a tailgate or something like that. Do you "tailgate" in the UK?

  • I like PBR.... not on a daily basis, but every now and then I will drink it.

  • @Cowboylikeme I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but I wouldn't turn it down either.

  • I can't believe you guys still drink this crap

  • @pizzaman123 "You guys"? Are you lumping us all into that comment. I'm not saying I won't drink it, but Chef & Scott are the ones who said they would buy it. Mark said that he has never bought it before. However, overall we are pretty laid back. We'll usually drink whatever you put in front of us as long as it starts with a "b" and rhymes "deer".

  • @AgileHProductions Well I guess I sounded a bit harsh there. But I just think it is so weird that you guys even review adjunct lagers... I mean they all taste almost exactly the same and in my opinion are almost not worth spending money on when you can grab anything else.

If I was at a lame party and thats all they had, then sure I would drink it, but the ratings seem a little high when compared to some of the stuff previously reviewed like Chimay, lol.

  • @pizzaman123 You have to remember that when we started the show none of us had any beer experience. Our mission wasn't to promote craft beer. It was to talk about all different beers whether we liked them or not. However, in the course of trying all these beers we've discovered tons of craft beers that we love and our tastes have changed a lot. And, we've turned a lot of fizzy, yellow beer drinkers into craft beer drinkers because they like our laid-back unpretentious approach.

  • Great review to style for an AAL, nice!

  • @CheertoBeers Overall, we don't know enough about styles to really rate every beer by style. However, we do have some background expertise in the American Adjunct Lager category. :)

  • There is a bar in town that sells this beer for $.50 on Monday nights, $2.50 for a pitcher. So awesome.

Plus this beer is WAY better than almost every other American Lager.

  • @RHCPDMBxxx33 For that price, almost any beer would earn my business.

  • @AgileHProductions For real, it being PBR and not Natty light is just the icing on the cake.

  • Hipster AND white trash beer. ;)

Good timing doing a review of this after the latest South Park episode. I've actually never had this beer before.

  • @StumpyJoeJr I'll have to go check out the latest South Park episode. Was it about PBR?

  • @AgileHProductions Sort of. It plays a role in the episode. You can watch it southparkstudios.

  • I loved sipping beer as a toddler! I think P.B.R. is one of the better beers, as per American-style lager.

  • @ronaldtheriot It had a decent taste. I wish they hadn't closed their brewery though. It makes them lose a little street cred.

  • @AgileHProductions Union trouble. So, they solved that issue by outsourcing. It's more efficient, anyway.

  • drank 9 of these last night. woke up feeling fresh.I love it

  • @millerhighlife2112 What? You weren't drinking living the High Life?

  • thanks for the review... excellent show!!!

  • @SNQHShow Excellent comment! Keep them coming!

  • Review Earthquake High Gravity Lager.

(can't wait to see that one...)

  • @IsThisSumBattleToads Is that a really cheap beer? I don't much about it. It sounds like a malt liquor.

  • It's a good basic party beer. I just wish Pabst.inc would distribute and promote PBR and Schlitz classic 60's in Texas better. They are always hyping the weaker Lone Star Beer here.

  • @wildbilltexas When I'm in Texas I'm drinking Shiner.

  • @AgileHProductions Oh hell ya! LOL, Shiner Bock has been my favorite go-to beer for 20+ years. But if you're having a backyard BBQ for a lot of freinds PBR is a good backup beer.

Pabst.Inc is trying to hype Lone Star Beer like Shiner with billboards all over Texas and promoting local shows and concerts. It may be a "legendary" beer but it's not very good.

  • After watching the review it makes sense to rate beer in categories or styles. But how to fit this in your format this late in the game? Very good review overall! My go to is Yuengling Black and Tan.

  • @257milo Rating by style is definitely one way to go. We don't have enough experience to do that very well.

  • Definitely a N(one) A(thletic) S(port) C(entered) A(round) R(ednecks) beer. I would take this to a race. But as Mark said, I would probably grab (an Icehouse first, due to it actually having a flavor. Then...) a Miller or Coors (but not bud) before I grab this one. And in that order (yes. the B in bud is lower case. Foreign companies don't get respect in my beer categories). PBR is definitely the bottom of the barrel. But I would buy it over any Budweiser any day.

  • @brandon0409 You don't respect any foreign beer companies? Tell me more.

  • Comment removed

  • If I'm looking for a quick fix, I usually grab a 24oz-er of Icehouse. Bi-Lo (local grocer) usually has them on Bonus buy for $1.19/24oz can. For a while my go-to adjunct lager (for 12 or 24 pack) was Yuengling. But ever since I found out that they use fake ingredients and additives (like colors and crap). But if I were to pick up a 12 pack of PBR, it would only cost around $6 bucks. So economy beer-wise, then I would definitely start looking at this. But Corn Syrup? Really? Not even real Corn?

  • @brandon0409 I thought that was odd too. That's why I pointed it out.

  • ha ha ha just saw this one on south park lol

  • @XtianFreak I need to check that out. Was PBR a big part of it?

  • Pabst puts the junk in adjunkt beer.

  • @khunopie I like your play on words.

  • Horrible Beer.

  • @WiiAreSIN A lot of people agree with you.

  • "Pabst Blue Ribbon and white trash. It’s a deadly combination that can lead to prison time and children being taken away from their homes.” Thats from a new episode of South Park which had a dig PBR drinkers.cheers

  • @gez1308 I need to catch a replay of that.

  • Try Schlitz Classic 60s formula. Solid adjunct lager!

  • @ilovefastcars89 I drank a lot of Schlitz in college - mainly because it was cheap.

  • not so much!

  • @SoLiDJinZo Thanks for watching the whole episode!

  • How bout "enjoyability"? That should be the metric. I give it a solid 3 rating. Fuck Pabst.

  • Drinkability?? Of course its drinkable. It tastes like goddamn water.

  • Pabst is a shit beer. Its the definition of American post WW2 mediocrity and politically correct spinelessness. That first reviewer is a typical limpwristed hipster faggot contrarian who shot down Chimay Blue only to pretend that Pabst is something other than mediocre shit lager on the level of Budweiser. He's a goddamn troll.

Pabst is one step above piss and shit.

  • @CraigKramer Are you a big Chimay fan? You seem to have taken that one really personally. I think Chef may have been a little off on that one, but he is not a bad person.

  • PBR is good, but I noticed it went up in price.

  • @HeyJoeHaze Yeah. I think it has. It's not the cheapo beer it once was. The hipsters raised the demand for the product.

  • My favorite cheap beer!

  • @Livelifechill What's your favorite expensive beer?

  • @AgileHProductions That's probably a tie between warsteiner and lienenkugel original. I know those aren't really expensive but they are like 7 or 8$ for a six pack by me where as PBR is like 12 or 13$ for a case of 30.

  • @Livelifechill Ultimately the best beer is one that you enjoy drinking, but doesn't make you poor doing so.

  • Lol did you guys look up hipster terms for this video?

  • @FTWbiology I was surprised that they knew what skinny jeans were. They must get out more than I do.

  • Pabst Blue Ribbon Is One Of My Fav Beer, Cheap And Tasty, I Buy A 6 Pack 16oz Once A Week!!!!

  • @40ozkingcobra Not King Cobra?
