  • Wheres the cinematic part?

  • @kotg0903 (Nevernumd i didn't watch enough lol) but take out the standard 4:8 side bars!!!

  • this is a much better before/after video than anything else ive seen

  • the original unedited footage looks better. The color "corrected" footage looks like shit, and certainly doesn't look like film.

  • The colors look like crap and it needs a tripod... or slider

  • Not only good editing. There's also good camera work and lighting. 5*

  • I noticed ppl who bootleg crop the video from their camera's. What idiots. Its already wide screen. I want my five dollars back for these five pieces of crap Bootlegged movies I bought.

  • r u using a (blue) colour filter for that enhancing tinge or is it an effect filter??

  • Hey, here's an even more efficient method of making your projects look more "cinematic",

    ....shoot film!

    Duh.

There is only one thing that looks as good as film. Film. And guess what, ANYONE can use it. Funny how only a few do though. Well, not "funny", actually.

  • @eggbertsmith I don't know if you know this but film would still need to get color corrected. Film itself only helps footage look better with the 24 fps framerate and the kodachrome.

  • @eggbertsmith Film is dying out and its hella expensive besides that it takes a long time to develop and edit it.

  • wow, thats good! how did you do it?

  • uuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • lol making digital look cinematic: add widescreen, make everything green.

  • is this footage from a movie you made?

  • good job:) imma be doing that soon.

  • very effective!

  • really creepy sound huh.

  • it looks like digital tried to turn into cinematic...

  • colouring looks like film...motion does not.

  • DAMN FASCINATING!

  • How about a HOW TO

  • Amazing what a little color correction and aspect ratio can do. Good job! :^)

  • 1:11 clip from the rod blagojevich biopic

  • holy shit that was good

  • how do you get that blue scary look, is that secondary color correction work??? wait, its vegas 8 O_O

  • go video fx color curves

and make that straight line a bit like a s looking thing

That will do something similar to this

or u could use color fix

  • Nice slide shot.

  • your first test remids me of the scene in teminator 1 with the 3 guys at night

  • or use stabilisize motion ;d

  • props to the editor, great coloring. it does a great job at making your film look cinematic

  • who the hell uses sony vegas ewww

  • @PenlegProductions wow that was rude! what do you use then?

  • Garbage day!!?

  • @yoleez8 yup

  • Still need to change the speed of the video to 24fps

  • Excellent camera work.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • Good job! It looks much more cinematographic with this color correction. Congrats!

  • not too bad but this is not cinematic at all

  • this is amazing! cool camera work! it really looks like a film!

  • is this shot in 24 fps

  • @spartan349 nop.. Still playing at 30fps...

  • Amazing ...I really need to learn this ...loved the part @ 0:50

  • This is amaizing, I didnt know oyu could do this with Vegas ! Thnaks a Mili !

  • whats a dolly?

  • I don't know why, but at 1:06, that scene speaks to me. I saw this video a while back, and I come back to it more and more... Good work bud!

  • What camera are you using?? please..

  • Today I've been looking for different ways to create a film look.

So far, this clip has been the best in my opinion! ^^

  • welll this was awesomeee... really.... suprb!!

  • The classroom shot looked amazing with the after effects

  • this is amazing! thank you hahaha :D

  • just because you cut the top and bottom and change the colour a bit, its not going to be cinema like :)

what about depth of fields etc

  • if you like to see the cinema history watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy.

  • Wow, very good job. Which would you recommend sony vegas or final cut pro?

  • @ZeroNineOverride vegas is for windows and final cut is for OSX... and After effects/premier is both

  • I love what you did with the coloring. How did you so that?

  • this is the best cinematic look iv seen by far, thanks alot man.

  • i really enjoy this, this gives me motivatoin.

  • i would say that it is maybe to green at some points which is good but it is dependent on the genre and/or feel you want to convey

  • damn it man this is so radical!!! i wish i could do this shit

  • this is awesome and the music really suits the mood... keep it up (:

  • what program did you use, it looks so good

  • cool

  • I'm blown away. Are you proud of this? I'd be impressed if this was for a junior high extra project, but you let us know off the bat that you're using $4000 camera. You're like those golfers who can't break 100 but spend heaps of money on clubs. Keep it up kiddo. Also, eat shit.

  • Ladies and gentlemen..if I told you I was an oil man i would think that you'd agree

  • very fincher looking.

  • amazing

  • Where can I watch the finished film?

  • Tuturiool:)

  • this is amazing!

  • fantastic

  • Have u ever tried Big Fx? I use to use that on my old premiere 6.5 but now they got new version that works with CS. There's some cool color templates like the color settings that's been used for movie Saving Private Ryan. I've used that once, b4 youtube went wide, just filming around the city from inside the car and the results were amazing. I will post it later so you can have a look. I think it's really great to use. Thanks.

  • off course the result looks great but i think that the raw footage already looks pretty good.

so it's wrong to think that you can make every footage look that professional by simply add color correction and others to it.

  • It still isn't going to cut it.

I still miss something on which i can't seem to put my finger on.

    Looks good though!

  • Hey good job!

  • WOW. such a simple thing makes such a huge difference.

Cannon XL2? I can't blow thousands of dollars for that though... Haha.

  • Lol why do they all look like Horror Movies!. Lol and wow this is amazing!.

  • how can you create that atmosphere? amazing

  • good stuff. but i do wanna point out that depth of field cannot be achieved using this method. peace. :)

  • dude waht software does this??? please need to knwo

  • Hey @okerwebcam

It is sony vegas 6.0. Next time you should see the intro, before asking such questions!

  • what are you doing with your sat, contrast and brightness? like increasing contrast?

  • good job. love it

  • How do you make the shots so smooth?

  • use a tripod! or build a dolly!

  • @cptmx

how exactly does one build a dolly? I'm kind of into making movies, but I'm having a hard time shooting fancy dolly shots and stuff…

  • @cptmx do you use the typical diy dolly, so what do you use, can you show us a video

  • @buttpork smoothcam final cut pro works, too!

  • @buttpork get a dolly! :)

  • @buttpork the answer is: use a steadicam, or glidecam. A dolly will also work.

  • yes how please

  • show us how master fx person

  • Awsome!

  • 1:2.35 aspect on some of those? Cool.

  • No, it doesn't look anything like film.

  • Thank you for not killing the credibility of the footage by using ridiculous amounts of contrast.

  • thats incredible man huge difference

  • 1:00 - 1:15 are the best 3 to me... the phone one is also great.

  • awesome!

    good work man ;)

  • niceeee

  • you have a good feeling for colors,

  • THIS IS AMAZING

  • 0:42 the biggest difference i think

  • colors effects are very good we r cutting about 50% of the scene , not acceptable for most of us

  • This is the best "movie look" I've seen so far! Thanks!

  • Cool vid. it's a nice fix for bad footage. Nothings beats a properly lit scene though.

  • please make tutorials!

  • yeah you gotta be careful with the cropping but it seems like he planned for it so when he went to anamorphic it framed everything really well

good job on the lighting 90% of the time I could actually see your actors eyes most of the time

think of reuploading in a better format tho so we can see the quality better

    but good job man

and way to go in not over contrasting every SINGLE LAST FRAME

  • fcking cool! Wide screen looks always cinematic xD

  • Always come back to this one....

  • Excellent examples. Nice work. :)

  • amazing what two black bars can do.

  • wow great film look ...

  • how did u do that?

  • The difference give the scene a whole nother feel to it. Its impressive!

    Great Job!

Love the first example and the one on 1:12

  • damn u really can see the dif. :)

  • um i think u had a handy cam and then a $50,000 camera

no jk but if i didnt no i wuld def say tht its crazy

  • wow, some shots have turned out to be so good! Keep up the good work!

  • is the raw footage really that grainy or is it youtube messing it up allot?

  • cool

    so professional

  • the original footage is very good though... it isn't that hard to get a film look when you start with awesome footage. either way this is as good as it gets. good stuff

  • Retail ready! EXCELLENT!

  • cool

  • interesting concept

  • nice

  • wow!wonderfull color!what filter use???

  • awesome mate some good inspiration

  • lol

video about 2 black stripes )

  • that shit is awesome... :)

  • PLEASE MAKE A MOVIE!!!!

  • how do you do that?

i guess a lot of it is just color correction.

  • Love the look at 42 seconds....very very nice!

  • very nice. it really gave it a legitamate cinematic look. good job

  • that was very good.

  • awesome makes me not want to shot on a RED

  • Not bad, would have been better if it was shot in 24p.

  • What music did you use for this?

  • Nice. Shooting with a good camera gives it a bigger plus

  • Nice!

  • absolutely awesome! Now we know hollywood is all about post-processing! haha...

  • Great job!!

  • good !!!!

  • dude thats sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, very nice :D

  • WTF!?!!? are you guys talking about.. This is awesome...!

  • I would definitely stay away from cropping your footage. If you don't plan for it, you an easily crop out someones head etc.

  • @Silenthawk98

I dont think this person had a problem with that. Cropping can be scanned (at least in FCP 6, so you can adjust for poor planning. I think it looks beautiful. This person should make a demo for canon.

  • @Silenthawk98 But it really adds to the film look. You just have to keep the crop in mind when you shoot, eventually you get used to it when you're filming something.

  • @Silenthawk98 There's a cheap way to avoid that issue, just put tape on the monitor edges during the shooting and the director will have an idea of how the movie will look after cropping.

  • You guys are really proffesionals!

  • Damn. VERY nice work. What camera did u shoot with?

  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiice :D i liked the lest clip the best...camera used?

  • I don't know what these douche bags are saying, this was extremely effective.

  • that's awesome

  • try harder this is terrible.

  • are you kidding me? i think this is A LOT better than what most people have here on youtube. this might be the first or second vid that doesnt have overkilled contrast.

  • @DADEISM

Post your work and lets see something great. I own an xl2 and I am really impressed with this. I would like to take some lessons in color correction from this person.

  • hater!!!!!!!!

  • do you even watch movies?

  • Finchspielberg yeah i watched your mom getting gang banged by skinheads last night

  • What type of camera did u use this this clip?

  • Best Cinematography I'd ever seen, Also Professional Camera positions Means a LOT

  • me gustaría ver esta película...

    it seems interesting..

    .oxk

  • oh my god the difference is incredible it looks completely amateur before and completely professional after

  • @thegreatbrandony I wouldn't say completely amateur before. Do you see amateurs make these kind of video-angles?

Or at least having descent actors who take the shots at least some seriously?

  • Cinematography looks pretty good here but I can't tell what this film is about.

  • @ptc5010, that's just a bunch of segments

  • Oh it is? In the info it says "footage from newest film in production." That's odd then.

  • i believe that there is no chronology.

  • To surfergrl9695, watch movies you relate to, not just in story but in many of the different departments involved; editing, cinematography, sound, acting, and so on. Get movies out from your local library as opposed to renting. You'll model your 1st movie strongly after the movie you strongly connect to. Always experiment with the shots; plan ahead & test shoot to finally settle on the angle, range (close/far), and final composition. Always experiment w/friends & family; they're free.
