@asteroidrules It is because the creator of the mod (who was also hosting the match) accidentally handed the code over to Valve. Since they knew the map really well, and since they know the code for HL2DM and now the code for that version of HL2CTF, they instantly became really good at it.

@Amaroqdricaldari That is about the exact opposite of what happened. To prevent the hl2ctf dev team from cheating, Valve asked that they host the match and have access to the game's source code. The dev team agreed, the valve team decided to have some fun in the second match and created what you see happening here. Giving themselves things like unlimited rapid fire rockets and godmode, or becoming a player controlled energy ball destroying everything, and obviously boosting their score.

Can anyone tell exactly what they did? These is what I could find: When it said "(X) is transforming into (Y)!", person X would apparently die, their body wouldn't appear, and Y would teleport exactly to where X had died. They also spawned the Overcharged Gravity Gun which had enough power to throw an APC as well as kill any NPC. T N T went nuts with the rocket launcher, so i'm guessing he had a health boost.The Disintegrator seems to have turned himself invisible and AoE vaporized everyone.

I'm confused as to how these hacks/exploits got into the hl2ctf game. Valve didn't develop hl2ctf, the people they're playing against did, so how is it that valve managed to activate these hacks in a game that they didn't develop?

Granted valve developed the game that this is modded from, but I doubt these are part of hl2dm, otherwise we would have seen them in other videos.

Hopefully I haven't missed the point here somewhere.

In regards to the source engine, I don't think there would be a load of cheats hidden in the source code that are generic enough to work on a mod created without those cheats in mind, or, if there was, then there should be videos of them all over the internet, along with methods on how to utilise them.

They could of had installed their powers in an update at some point. Valve also ain't just your average modders/gamers, they make damn games, and some of the best ones ever at that.
