I'm not condoning their violence by anymeans...I just think that people need to understand BOTH sides of the issue before they jump to conclusions.
And yes rationlizing horrendous acts of violence to impress people is my FAVORITE passtime.

and seriously, have you ever wondered what all these ships are doing so close to the somali coast? they have agreements with the corrupt somali "government" that allow them to fish at the coast, taking away the livelihood of the somalian fishers.. if brithish ships started fishing in portuguese waters all of the sudden, they'd be punished.. but nobody cares if it's an african country..

Sharpton says they call themselves Coast Guard and then says "that may be more apt"...meaning, of course, that he feels that term is more suitable for them.
These ships are gettting hijacked 200-400 miles off the coast of Somalia. Hijackers overtake larger ships and then use them as a "base" to operate from.You think that's too close to shore? You think cargo ships full of containers, military supplies and oil are there to fish??

i agree with you reagarding the ships that are getting hijacked at the moment.. what i meant was how the situation developed in the first place.. tthese "pirate ships" formed to protect their livelihood and back then the term coast guard might have been apt.. i am with you, it has gotten way out of hand and most of the pirates are nothing but criminals, but one has to understand where they are coming from..

Ships are dumping their ballasts and other wastes off the coast of Somolia which will potentially destroy whats left of their fishing industry. If the US had no government, I'm sure you'd see Green Peace, Militia groups and Native Americans going after Chinese and Russian ships doing illegal business of its waters.
