That brainbuster on Mutoh was the most brutal brainbuster ever. Oddly enough, Mutoh got up and won the match (after about 2 minutes of not moving much).
@egg64 Of course they applaud for such a major move! It means the match is finished or nearing a climax. They applaud and cheer for the specialness of the move in context with Pro Wrestling psychology, not because it's dangerous and it's cool to see people people get messed up.
In short, they show appreciation for the performers.
Ah ok. Got that confused, because Kawada had beaten Mutoh for the belt like a year or two earlier, I had thought it was Mutoh-Kawada-Hashimoto. Alright, thanks
The one at 0:16 is like the equivalent of Hulk's slam of Andre at WM III. Takada vs Hash was probably the biggest match in puro history ever. But whereas Hulk's slam was technically crappy, Hash's brainbuster was a work of art. Look at how Takada completely crumples upon impact!
I always loved how Takada would never fully co-operate with the traditional pro-wrestling moves and always make them look worse since his opponent was almost always dead lifting him up. Hashimoto was the man. Long live the Fat King, Hashimoto!
A brainbuster is a professional wrestling throw in which a wrestler puts his/her opponent in a front facelock, hooks his/her pants, and lifts him/her up as if he/she was executing a vertical suplex. The wrestler then falls onto his/her back so that the opponent lands on his/her head while remaining vertical.
Mutoh... The Poor smeggar... His head Almost Went Through The Mat The Way An Ostrich's Head Goes Though The Ground... And He Recovered?!?!?!?!?

Hashimoto had a passion and fire that few in Puroresu could match. The closest, I think, were Misawa, Kobashi, and Mutoh.

Is the clip of the first match from Hashimoto's win over Kawada for the AJPW Triple Crown?

It is that match, except Kawada beat Hashimoto for the belt.

I'll bet Mutoh regrets kicking his legs like that... Hashimoto wouldn't have dropped him directly on his head!

Hashimoto's brainbuster one of the few things that could make a Japanese crowd pop like when WWE marks pop for when Cena or Batista.
Daveshappell 4 years ago 2
Japanese fans pop for loads of things.........Not just big moves like this.
theredraven 4 years ago
@Daveshappell: How is that relevant? The styles and the cultures are far too different.
What's odd is that in Japan the move we in the U.S. call a vertical suplex is called a brainbuster.
