When I'm down, I come watch this video and then I get a huge ass boner. This is the most badass sounding truck I have ever heard in my life. I can't believe you sold this.
Hey I got true dual with super 44s and I have no cats and I am planning on putting some magnaflow high flow cats on would it make my truck any quiter?
Gutting the cat is just referring to the act of removing all of the internal components to a catalytic converter. If you were to take your cat off and look down it, it would look like a bee's nest. To remove all of that material using a dremel bit on a powerdrill is a good way to tear it up. If you do gut your cat, it's a good idea to put a piece of pipe down the middle of it though so it doesn't cause an akward flow of velocity in the exaust system.
alright thx. lol, 1 more question. how much of a pain in the ass was it to install. im worried about the stock manifold bolts and breaking them. how did you do it??
Not a problem. As far for the install, I wouldn't know personally because I hired an exhaust shop to put them in. From the impression I got from the installer, however, it sounded like he had a pretty difficult time getting the old bolts out and even cracked one off inside the head but was able to get it out. If you do it yourself, it's very wise to spray a product called PB Blaster all over the bolts and let them soak a couple of days in advance before the project.
Yes, the sound did change with the headers. If you look through my videos it lists the modifications; you can see how it gets a little more raspy after they were installed. As far as power gains, they weren't substantial but it definitely set the truck away from the pack. I routinely could beat other dodge ram trucks with comparable drivetrains.
hi. i have a 2000 ram 5.9. i also bought the pacesetter long tubes but havent put them in yet. how does that work with emissions? do u pass even with the headers? a shop told me i couldnt unless the headers came with a CARB certification badge
Your emissions will not be effected by the longtube headers, however, you may run into some shops that are picky about the headers. Technically they are considered for offroad use only, but not all shops care or will even notice them. I didn't have any issues getting an inspection sticker.
Yeah, my brother ran a true dual set-up on his 460 big block with the dynomax bullets, and I did not like them at all. They are essentially just resonators. The 40s won't snap around as much, but they will drone probably worse since they are a cased muffler. What kind of set-up are you running currently? Vehicle?
i have a 2002 dodge ram 1500 5.9. i have pacesetter longtubes, no cats, and the 3 in exhaust with 3 in bullets. there's a vid of it on my page. what your saying about resonators is right, i heard it with open headers and the only difference now is that its a little quieter
i could watch all the videos of your dodge all day. i hope my 93 360 ram sounds like this i have a hollowed out cat theres a video on my page from my buddy
can u tell tht it somewhat looks liek the pipe on the rite is angled a bit more? still doesnt effect how fn badass this sounds. im thinkn bout gettin the same setup... do u have a gutted cat? is it just one muffler or 2
In this video it does have a gutted cat. It's running a single in/dual out flowmaster super 44 muffler as well. I no longer run this set-up anymore. I've put back on a magnaflow cat, and a flowmaster 40 muffler. Sounds just as loud and much better.
Well, the headers I bought from Pacesetter came with a matching y-pipe. So all I did was install the headers and y-pipe and connect it into my existing 3" exhaust system.
the 44 is just one of the many "series" flowmater makes. each one has a little bit different sound than the other. the 44 is supposed to be the deepest and most aggressive sounding of all of the mufflers they make.
damn those longtubes make a HUGE sound difference compared to your other vids without em. i didnt know it was possible to make it sound more of a monster.
in this video did you have a gutted cat or have a piece of pipe through it?

basically it wont change anything but power and noise but some shops just like 2 be jerks... most wont care or notice tho
