Cyd Charisse is the one and only. Beauty, elegance, talent her name is Cyd Charisse. It sadness me to know and see that Hollywood does not even come close to what used to be. This is when Hollywood was pure magic and full of real talented people because now a days it is a joke.
Instead of spending all this effort removing music from videos which people are trying to watch and enjoy, why don't companies like WMG whichever this one is make the barest attempt to bring quality like this back on screen?
I love this movie; it's a musical adaptation of "Ninotchka." Astaire and Charisse have some lovely numbers in it. It's sad that the music had to be replaced. The original music is wonderful: throbbing, soulful strings.
@infinitelee It really is. A while back I was searching Amazon and was amazed and delighted to discover the original music, straight from the film's soundtrack, on a multi disc MGM CD. I downloaded and bought it on the spot, dropped it into my MP3 player, and listen to it all the time now, visualizing Cyd's lovely ballet as it plays.
@pincus22 It's the "Silk Stockings Ballet" by Cole Porter, and it's quite beautiful and fits her sensuous movements perfectly. You can actually download it at iTunes or Amazon for 99 cents--and watch for the movie to be shown on TCM and enjoy the whole glorious original. It's (she's) breathtaking!
The best example of what made her "beautiful dynamite," as Fred Astaire described her. Watch for two moments: at :28, she makes just twirling around in a transparent slip both graceful and sensuous, and later at 1:35 she is preening like a sexy peacock. What a babe!!
She's so talented! Every move she makes is graceful! I first heard of her in a book I read where the main character was named after Cyd Charisse. ^.^ The fact that Cyd was a dancer made me take interest in her. She's so beautiful and her dancing is enviable.
Yes, this is beautiful. Fred Astaire called Cyd the dance partner he ever had--and well--he had all the greats in his day. Her background as a professional ballerina made all the difference.
hi sexy

Breathtaking. But I'd give a lot to see somewhere on YouTube the original dance in its entirety with Porter's lovely score.
