  • Good tone on the cheap for sure, nice job. I am a musician on a budget myself and have found that there are lots of good tones inside cheap gear, it's really up to you and your hands to unlock it ;)

  • Really love your playing, thanks for the tip on a good rig!

  • Get a hair-cut.

  • real good playing.

  • Your best vid in my opinion, tone and playing are both excellent. Where did you find the Strat? Ebay? I've always loved 80's Squires.

  • @mattchurchill

thanks Matt. I picked up when I was looking at a Tele from a guy on gumtree. I didn't buy the Tele but I bought this Squire as one of my students needed a decent guitar and only had £200. We got a guitar for £100 and a Fender solid state red knob deluxe (in the video also) for £90. The overdrive is from a Boss blues driver.

I was amazed at how well the whole rig sounded for such little money. Yet we all get caught up in the expensive 'must have stuff'. Makes you wonder...

  • Been awhile since I last saw you post a video, and as before, very much enjoyed the guitar work you do. Thanks for posting.

  • I've found that most inexpensive amps follow the same design philosophy as boutique amps in that they succeed really well at one thing and they suck at everything else.

My favorite inexpensive amp is my 4 watt Vox. ACTV4 I think? Makes for good rock, blues, and slightly overdriven metal (with a decent pedal). I've yet to find a low watt amp that will give me a metal tone that isn't full of fuzz and buzz.

  • I am sure you can make any guitar sound good!

  • It's in the fingers! I had an 80's Squire Strat that was better than just about any higher dollar Strat I've played. I gave it to a friend of mine's kid as his first guitar. He started a band with that guitar a few years later. Excellent playing and tone!

  • @Noitpure

OK swop you my solid state Fender 85 Deluxe for your Reinhardt! LOL!! Only joking. Nice to hear form you again. You tone is wonderful and pure as is your playing. Thanks for the comments.

  • Really awesome playing!! I think that the most important thing is the musician rather than the material =)

  • @EdgarBeja

Thanks very much. I guess what I was thinking was that if you look hard enough there is some great gear out there at silly prices on Craig's list / Gumtree etc. You don't have to go broke buying the latest 'Boutique Bullshit'.

I got caught up in buying all the latest 'Top of the line' stuff. Everyone told me no matter what I plugged into it always sounded the same (more or less). We get seduced by glossy mag ads. That's marketing for you!

  • @chooseyourblues You´re totally right. There are people who spend all day and night thinking how they´re gonna make money... They make hypnotize us with marketing campaigns and stuff like that just to make money!!

You´ve heard that the Squier Classic Vibe series of guitars are awesome and many people like them more than mexican made fenders !!

If you have time, check out my channel. I also love stratocaster tones ;)

    Have a nice day !
