BULL SHIT! Even a 5 year old Child could have told you that it was clearly a "No Goal"! Someone needs to send one of those NHL Officials to Lenscrafters because someone in the Officiating Department is in serious need of a pair of Glasses! The only thing Cindy did with the stick was to stop the puck before her Stupid Ass pushed it across as she was sliding into the Flyers Net.
I'm fucking getting tired of seeing this Mother Fucker Crosbitch getting away with murder on a consistent basis. And especially against one of the most hardest working teams in the NHL, the Flyers.
Obviously, Cindy Crosbitch would get goals like that. SHE'S DADDY BETTMAN'S LITTLE GIRL! Although it was her momentum that pushed both the puck and herself into the Flyers Net. I would want to see what would happen if Danny Briere or Mike Richards were to slide into the Penguin Net with the puck. Would they also be counted as goals?
you guys don't know what you're talking about. It's in before biron could react. listen to the commentators, they've watched a lot more hockey than any of us.
The only question about this is does sid touch the goalie without being hit into him which is yes... AKA Flyers should go on the powerplay after this play but since it was sid they let it go
@mclovintheflyers no, because if a player tries to stop, there is no call.... if you reply that he didnt try to stop, then your biased.. if your very serious about analyzing this goal, as I am, then the way I see it, there is no forward motion by his arm, he was braking long before he hit the goal, and, in addition, the puck was in the crease when contacted originated. The call made was correct.
@LexIoana The call was not correct. have you ever watched a Flyers Pens game with a non biased view?? honestly it makes me hate the NHL. the last game I went to Hartnell got crosscheck in the spine into Johnson and Harts got called .Harts was stopped and someone crosschecked him so hard he looked like a backwards C yet he sits for it. Sid in no way tried to avoid contact with the goalie which is the rule.not trying to stop.he is one of the best skaters in the game, if he wanted to stop he could,
@LexIoana you wanna know how much you have to try to avoid contact??? not skating right into the goalie... he did not attempt to avoid contact at all you dip. I know the rules better than you. He would have had to try to turn away from Biron or try to jump over him not skate and slide into him... he did not fall by accident, in no way was he touched.
@mclovintheflyers NHL Rule #69.1A: "An attacking player is standing in the goal crease when the puck enters the crease then crosses the goal line--Result is a good goal"--NHL Rule #69.3A: "The attacking player, after having made reasonable effort to avoid contact, makes contact with the goal keeper at the time a goal is scored--The goal is allowed"... Crosby was breaking well before reaching the crease, the call was correct. Learn your rules.
@ROCKETS2965 How can it be "Goaltender Interference" when the Goaltender never had a chance of fielding the Puck? Hello, Pearle Vision is calling you Dumbass!
@LexIoana What are you talking about?! Cindy was fully "In the Crease" before the puck was. So no, that would have been considered a "No Goal"!
You can't receive the puck when you're in the Crease. The Goal Crease is the Goaltender's space to either stop or field the puck. Why don't you learn your rules!
@Jiltedin2007 Ummm, go read the NHL rule book and tell me where the "Crease Rule" is then.
You're a moron, it was a clean goal. No forced movement of the arm. Good goal.
This is coming from a guy who can't stand Crosby, but it was a fair call. And you can stand in the crease all day as long as you aren't interfering with the goalie.
You need to learn the rules of hockey before you spew "Ultimate hockey knowledge" to anyone.
@SkylineBNR34 O.K. Mr. NHL Rules, why don't you look up another rule about scoring a goal by pushing the puck across the Goal Line with a part of your body because if you were to see this video clearly, you would see that Crosby stopped the puck with his stick about 2 feet from the Goal before pushing it across with his Wrist.
Tell me where it is legal to score a goal without the use of your stick.
@Jiltedin2007 lmfao you can score with any part of your body as long as there is no forward motion or kicking motion ; which is why people have deflected shots with hands, skates, pants, shoulders, even their face, for years and years of hockey.......
@LexIoana Excuse me? So, if I have a Teammate bounce a puck on my Arm and it "All of a sudden" bounced into the Goal, the Goal would count even though my forward progress is towards the Goaltender and the Opposing Goal? Mind you, the puck solely bounced off my Arm as I am sliding into the Goal. The Referees would count that as a Goal?
If that's the case, let my Teammates bounce pucks off my Head, as if we are playing Soccer, for all I care. Anything to help the team win!
@Jiltedin2007 That is correct. If you wish to be less of a pompous cocky asshole, and more of an informed intelligent hockey fan, I suggest you personnally look up the rules and/or other videos on the web which proves that point. I'm not asking you to agree with the rule, I'm just telling you what it is. The choice to remain ignorant or not is yours.
@SkylineBNR34 When there isn't any direct motion the puck can deflect off any part of the body.
Crosby's forward progression made the puck bounce off his wrist and into the net, you can clearly see there is no distinct forward movement of his arm trying to "push" the puck into the net.
Try again bucko. You clearly don't know any of the rules in the NHL then. You can score off any part of the body as long as you aren't "pushing" it in, directing it in is fine. You can score goals with your body
I'm a Flyers fan, but I can't say that this wasn't a good goal. It was a cheap goal and Biron couldn't really do anything about it, but in the playoffs, goals like these are important. The Flyers had plenty of opportunities to win this game, as they had 8 powerplays, but Fleury stole the game and stopped 45 shots. It is disheartening, considering that that the Flyers outplayed Pittsburgh from game 2-period 1 of game 6, but Pitt took better advantage of their chances.
i dont understand, you think this was a cheap goal but a good goal? whats cheap about it? he crashed the net and the puck hit off his midsection and went into the net. it was lucky but not cheap.
Well, it was cheap, considering that he slid into Biron (even though he came into contact with Biron after the deflecting the puck). It was a 'garbage goal' as they call it. I don't blame Crosby for crashing the net as it's important to do that in the playoffs...it's just that Biron was didn't really have an opportunity to make the save because of the way the puck was knocked in off his midsection. But this game was all about MAF, then the rest of the Pens, anyways...
yea i mean, i understand that its a frustrating goal to watch from your end, but like you said he made contact with the puck before he did with biron. thats all you can ask for. definitely a garbage goal, but those are the kinds of goals that win you big games. and yea, biron didnt have much of a chance. i dont think biron is that bad. i think the flyers fans treat him unfairly. but whatever. fleurys inconsistency is hard to watch, but he was nothing short of perfect in this game.
Yea, he was perfect in this game because he had to be. Biron is a capable goalie but the reason why Flyers fans got on him a lot was because of the soft goals he was known for giving up. He also struggled with his lateral movement. Fleury is inconsistent, but he seems to step his game up when it really matters, so that's good. It was a frustrating goal to watch, but it was the series on a whole that was frustrating cuz we felt we did everything necessary to win the series but we couldnt beat MAF
i know biron can let in some soft goals, but ive also seen biron keep the flyers in games they had no business bein in. MAF is tough to watch like i said, but he does step up in big games usually. so much potential, he could be brodeur but hes gotta fix his shortcomings. the series was the pens worst. they improved steadily after this. i thought we were gunna get swept by the caps but sid carried us, as usual. the flyers played a good series, but game 6 proved the flyers werent ready to move on
Yea, he's kept the Flyers in games they had no business being in (that's the way it happens with most teams). MAF is a good goalie, but I think it's a stretch to say he could be the next Brodeur. He's definitely got awesome reflexes but Marty Brodeur is a special goalie. As for game 6 i agree, if you can't hold onto a 3 goal lead, you don't deserve to win a series...although, I feel the Flyers are just as good as Pitt and could have won, but Pitt was more focused and disciplined.
in the 07-08 playoffs, fleury was damn near perfect in every game. he was so good. his reflexes, and movement are 2nd to none, but his rebound control is horrible. if he learns to eat up rebounds he can be the top goalie. as of now though MAF still gives me a heart attack watching him most nights. i dunno about the flyers being as good as the pens last year, but this year i think theyre better. the pens really played horribly though. even if the flyers were the best opponent the pens had in...
the first rd, the pens still played horribly against them. they had to pick it up from there to play near perfect hockey against the wings. i htink the caps were better than the flyers last year, but i think their dependence on ov is their downfall. theyve got some great talent on that team, but it seems like they want everyone to take a backseat to ov. varly was a beast though. and sid almost singlehandedly beat the caps, yes. as for the 3rd rd, i dunno if you can put that all on malkin...
And with your comment on the Pens playing horrible in the first round, I disagree. They just weren't able to roll over the Flyers like last season, because the Flyers were at full strength (although Richards played with two torn shoulder labrums and Carter had a seperated right shoulder). Timonen, Coburn, and Parent helped limit Crosby and Malkin's damage, even though Sid and Geno got their points. It was MAF that was the MVP and the Staal line that played the bestfor the Pens.
Well, here's where I'll disagree. The Caps are NOT better than the Flyers, this year or last, because their offense begins and ends with OV. Kimmo Timonen plays great against him and the Flyers (before Pronger came), had a much more well-rounded defense (even more so now) than the Caps. Their offense was and still is deeper than the Caps. Varlamov may have been the difference if the Caps played the Flyers and won, but I would take the Flyers any day of the week to beat the Caps in a series.
Yea, Fleury was really good last year, but the Pens played a BAD Sens team, an offensively inept Rangers team, and then an injury-riddled, though inferior, Flyers team. I think MAF shined in the Finals, especially game 5...although, I think the Pens defense was largely responsible for how well Fleury played in the first 3 rounds (like when they used the trap against the Flyers in game 3 in 2008). IF he learns to control the rebounds consistently, then yea, he can be an elite goalie (but not MB).
im not sold on the theory that the pens had an easy road to the cup last year. i mean, crosby and hossa were close to unstoppable, because even the wings had a hard time stopping them, and the rags, who can really limit a teams scoring each night with their D and lundqvist. but they were the best in the east last year (mtl would have given them a run though except for price). the caps sucked last year. they only made teh playoffs cause they won the worst div in hockey. but i do believe that...
they have some great talent on that team. their D is shaky, but every team has a weakness. the flyers really got lucky last year against them in game 7. their 2nd goal should have been called back for interference, but o well. thats hockey. as far as the pens this year, i watched them prior to the start of the playoffs, and in hte first rd they looked lazy. but i meant to comment about this earlier, staals like was huge. the flyers had no response to it. best 3rd line in hockey. they really...
controlled the puck on almost every shift. but then staals line became increasingly useless in the 2nd and 3rd rds. but made a reemergence in the cup, so i cant complain too much. not a staal fan but he played a huge part in winning the cup. his shorthanded goal in game 6 was one of the most intense moments of hockey ive ever watched
I could also make the argument that the Caps got lucky in game 1 when Thoresen was drilled with a slap shot in his jewels and play was not called dead with him lying on the ice. The Caps were already on a PP, but Thoresen going down turned that into a 5-on-3, and the Caps scored, tying the game. OV won the game later in the third. The Flyers won the next 3 games, so had the Flyers won game 1, there's a chance the Flyers could have swept the series, but we'll never know what would've happened.
I've heard mixed reviews about Staal, actually. From what I've heard, he'll have a game where he seems to dominate and scores 3 goals (like in Detroit last November), then disappears for a month. In a way, you could say he's like Lupul...only Staal's two-way presence is extremely useful to the Pens on the third line. Pens fans have told me he'd be a second line center on most teams and first-liner on some, but others say that when playing Malkin, he couldn't produce.
True, for the Caps it's their defense, the Flyers it's their goaltending (depending on how Emery turns out), and with the Pens, it's their lack of depth at wing. You could say that the the Flyers got lucky in game 7, but the rule is: If the defenseman is playing the puck and gets pushed/checked, and so happens to knock the goalie over, it's not goaltender interference. Patrik Thoresen took advantage of the situation and enabled Kapanen to score.
i mean ill say this. i watched the whole series and i really thought the caps deserved to win, but it doesnt really matter cause in my opinion neither team were as good as mtl minus the carey price meltdown. but nobody was beating detroit. flyers won, it is what it is.
true about staal, except its more like he dominates every game for like a week then disappears for about 2-3 months. hes good on the pk. but 4 mil a season for a pker? its too much. he should make more like 2.5 mil. i will say...
that he is almost unquestionably the best 3rd lind center in the league, but he doesnt have much competition. 3rd liners are never really THAT good. he would be a 2nd liner on damn near any other team. pens are stacked down the middle, but staal still frustrates me. too streaky. thats not what we need.
i think emery will just be more of biron. hes not bad, but hes not gunna win you a cup on his own. pronger will though. flyers are my pick to win the cup, but well see
That's what a lot of people believe. Even if Emery is just a lateral movement from Biron (although I think he's an upgrade in talent and athleticism), the Flyers defense has the ability to form 2 elite shutdown lines (Pronger and Timonen on seperate lines), keeping the puck away from Emery.
The Hockey News has the Flyers winning the Cup this year as well, because of stacked offense and defense, but as you said, we'll see what happens.
It's debateable. I mean, the Flyers jumped out to a 3-1 series lead and were the better team in 3 of the 4 games. Even in game 5 they almost tied the game in the last seconds of the third. The Flyers had trouble holding onto leads. As for MTL, they lost not only because of Price but because they refused to crash the net. Biron and Umberger won that series for the Flyers. As for Staal, he could be a centering piece in a package to land the Pens a bonafide no.1 winger.
yea, i mean mtl was a little too soft 2 years ago, but they had so much skill. theyve got some great players on that team, although i think they got worse this year. if they can pull it together theyre gunna be scary.
i dont know that i want staal traded. its gunna be tough to replace his minutes with a first line winger. and the depth will be gone too. i think the pens just gotta keep doing what theyve done so far, and focus on the centers. so far its worked out. sid taking 8.7 mil was a...
cap killer. he owes so much to lemieux. i was expecting him to sign for about 4 mil a year, and then malkin took the same amount. the cap really is gunna make it tough to be a dynasty.
well see if the flyers can replace the offense lost with knuble and lupul. i wanted the pens to get knuble so badly. i think he was the best forward on the flyers the last 2 years. as jonesy calls him, "mr consistency". hes top notch at what he does. washington actually might be able to beat the flyers in the...
playoffs. i think theyre the only team in the east that will be able to compete. and maybe boston. then again, the devils always manage to hang around too, dont they?
The Cap makes it tough for any team to be a dynasty, also because of how much strain a Cup run puts on a team (mentally and physically). The Pens have logged alot of miles over the past 2 seasons and will face a hungry Caps and Flyers team. I know the Flyers want to desperately beat the Pens and will play like a team possessed when they meet the Pens. And yes, the Devils are a son-of-a-bitch team. They're a great reg. season team but dont have enough talent to go deep in the playoffs.
...winger to play with Crosby or Malkin, it's going to be so much harder, even with Pronger. It's almost impossible to stop Crosby and Malkin anyways, by themselves.
I would have hated if the Pens got Knuble lol but i think he'll help WSH. The flyers best forward was definitely Mike Richards over the past two years. Knuble will be missed but I think Hartnell will thrive with more PP time and like Knuble, he goes to the net really well, but can shoot from anywhere (30g-30a in 09).
Yea, MTL has diminutive forwards on their team, although they're skilled. I think Gomez is the most overrated center in the NHL, though...
Well, if you guys traded Staal, I would rejoice because Carter would have a much easier time scoring against the Pens lol...but a Hossa-like winger puts you guys over the top. With an elite winger, it makes it so much tougher for opposing teams to stop Crosby or Malkin. The Flyers will focus on shutting down Crosby and Malkin, but if Pitt gets an elite...
yea i dont see gomez fitting the mtl style of hockey over the last few seasons. but they ditched skill guys like koivu and kovalev for north americans. well see if it works.
haha yea thats teh thing about staal. his D is good. and as a 3rd liner he doesnt play too much, but hes good enough to give malkin and sid some rest. hossa and sid were incredible to watch, but they didnt win the cup. however, you cant blame sid and hossa for not winning. they certainly did their part...
but im absolutely blown away that a flyers fan is giving credit to sid here. this is rare. pronger can shut down whoever hes assigned to. then if you want to depend on timonen to shut down malkin, he might be able to slow him down. but this is where staal comes in... if he could be a consistent pt scorer, maybe getting 60 pts or more a year, the pens could roll through the nhl. but staals streakiness can kill them.
id take knuble over richards. for his money, hes a good value...
but theres a number of guys around the league who can do what richards does. i think staal is sort of like our richards. more D minded. but somebody who can do what knuble does in front of the net is so valuable. smyth, holmstrom, maybe malone, and maybe another player or 2 im missing are really the only ones who can compete with knuble out front. its a tough assignment not everyone wants to take.
flyers, caps, bruins, devils, maybe the leafs are the only teams i see as threats in teh east.
It sound homerish, but I think Richards is going to be putting up Datsyuk-like numbers either this year or next year, cause he's still getting better each year. He's defensive-minded but has scored 28 and 30 goals in his last 2 season and 75 and 80 points....especially with the talent the Flyers have in Giroux, Gagne, Briere, Hartnell, Carter, etc..
Knuble is good value but that's only for the PP and most of his goals come from 5 feet away. Richie is one of the best all-around players.
Yea I can give credit to Crosby, even though kills the Flyers. I think Pronger will most likely be matched up against Malkin though, cause Pronger's size and reach is better suited against a guy like Geno, who isn't as fast as Crosby. Timonen would then pair up with Coburn or Parent against Crosby. Staal has the skill to become a big-time scorer but he needs more ice time and needs to shoot the puck more. He could also stand to have better wingers playing with him...
i dunno who you think is better between sid and malkin, but im not much of a malkin fan myself. i think sid is way better. if malkin had showed up in the final 2 rds of the 08 playoffs then maybe itd be a different story, but that was his 2nd postseason where he sucked and id had enough. but he really helped this year. sid shoulda been playoff mvp but o well. the cup was more important. id rather have pronger on malkin cause pronger could kill sid if given the chance, but timonen doesnt have...
that size, although sid might be able to just blow past pronger too, so youre probably right about the matchups.
staal would be better with better wingers (who wouldnt?) but you cant really focus on getting better wings on a 3rd line. im more worried about getting sid a realy line first.
well see about richards. briere doesnt scare me too much. he might be able to up his numbers but well have to wait and see. hockey season is right around the corner
I'd rather have Pronger on Malkin because of that possibility, that Crosby could skate by Pronger. Still, I think Pronger would be fine against Sid because he has a really long reach and would simply back up more to keep Crosby in front of him.
Yea I think Richards is ready to take the next step by eclipsing 90 points this season. Briere will play on the right wing and I feel will have a bounce-back season(80+ points). Briere will have a lot of work with this year (with Gagne and Richards).
I actually think Malkin is better than Crosby. That's just my opinion. I think is the purest goal scorer in the NHL and a premier playmaker. Crosby needs to shoot the puck more (and score) for me to put him ahead of Malkin.
Timonen's true value is in his positional play. He wont put up 50-60 point seasons but he's consistently putting up 40+ over the last 7 or so seasons. Timonen was a major reason why the Flyers beat the Caps in round 1 of 2008.
yea, like i said, malkin doesnt rank too high on the team with me, but he still was part of the cup team and i appreciate every single thing he did for the pens en route to the cup. but i like crosby better, and i think crosby leaves it all on the ice every night. malkin not so much. and sids D is better despite the takeaway #s for malkin in 09. i saw every game, dunno where those #s came from haha.
timonen is an intelligent player yes. im not big on finnish players, so i dont think hes that...
much better than average, but fins work hard. timonen is no exception.
if pronger was on sid, he could really kill him, like i said, but sid could also abuse him on an off ngiht. but pronger doesnt have many of them and hed do just fine. hes probably the best Dman in the league. id take him over anyone. its gunna suck having to play him 6 times a year.
until briere learns to deal with physicality he wont do much. the pens shut him down i nthe playoffs 2 years in a row now. hes gotta do better
Timonen is one of the most underrated defensemen in the NHL. As for Malkin, I can't believe you said he doesn't rank too high on the team. If that's the case, trade him to the Flyers for Jeff Carter, a prospect, and picks lol. I hope would kill to have Malkin play for Philly. Him setting up Giroux and Gagne would be the most dynamic line in the NHL.
hes good, better than most everyone on the pens, but i like many players better than him. hes expensive too man. youd have to cut a player or 2 just to fit him. i woudlnt relaly want carter on the pens though. hes too one way, all offense no D. but yea i get what youre after here. malkin would be a huge step up for the flyers, yea.
Carter has come a long way, defensively. It shows in his plus-minus (+23 in 08/09). Plus, Carter is one of the purest goal scorers in the NHL, as he finished second only to Ovechkin. Malkin's cap hit is 8.7M, so we would definitely cut a couple players, but it would never happen anyways. I figured you would really love Malkin, considering after him and Sid, there's a severe dropoff in point production and talent from the rest of the forwards. Same goes in D, after Gonchar.
yea, youd guess id like malkin, and like i said, i appreciate what he did to help win the cup, but other than that hes not near the top of the team on my list of favorites. dont expect to see me with a malkin jersey anytime soon. but im open to changing my mind, as of now though, not really a fan.
theres a huge pt dropoff on the pens after malkin and sid, which is why staal needs to pick it up. at 4 mil a season hes gotta do more than PK.
hope letang starts puttin up 60 pt seasons soon on D
i don't know if you coiuld say that the first round was the worst for the Pens...the Flyers were just the toughest opponent they played in the first 3 rounds (Varlamov was the only reason that the Caps won the first 2 games). As for Sid carrying you guys, that certainly was the case after the first round, and then Malkin in the 3rd. I think the Flyers were surprised, though, with how effective Staal was with defending against Carter and killing off penalties. The staal line and MAF made the diff
I feel ashamed of Flyer's fans when they even try to tell Penguin fans that the Flyers are actually good. The Flyers will never win a Stanley Cup, and that seems almost fact to me.
The Penguin's went from 10th place in February to winning the Cup in June, as a 4th seed. How can you hate on that? Simply amazing if you ask me, GO PENGUINS!
the penguin always get good players like lemieux malkin jagr crosby fleury thats cause pittsburg is always in last place so they get franchise players
flyers came in last place in 07 for like the first time ever in a long time and they were gonig to pick up patrick kane but they didnt get first pick so flyers didnt get lucky like pittsburg does
but now flyers have pronger and emery so pittsburg better watch out cause in 2 year pittsburg once again will not make in the playoff for a long time
wow, why doesnt all the flyer fans stop complaining? WHO WON THE STANLEY CUP? yaa, exactly, thats what i thought. THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS. not the philadelphia cryers. and it wouldnt have mattered if that goal counted or not.. we still would have won.
Wow, I love how you're going to tell me what I do all the time. I didn't know you stalked me, you fucking loser. Next year won't be the same results, I promise you that. Fuck off
Oh and MY team blows? Thats why Crosby only had 33 goals, while on MY team Carter had 46 goals. Whos more talented? Yeah I thought so, you fucking stupid shit.
yeah and he had 70 assists too. wow if you score 46 goals you are obviously talented, but it doesnt matter if you cant make to the 2nd round of the playoffs. dont worry though, if you suck carters dick, then you might get a few more goals out of him.
hahaha hey buddy we did somethiing this offseason. We got better. you did something this offseason. You got WORSE! You lost a decent amount of talent my friend. Suck on Chris Prongers dick for me
That was a good goal, but Crosby is Bettman's pet now. That is the only reason they won the cup this year, bettman had the refs calling crap the whole series, he had the finals start a week early because Detroit had just come off a 7 game series. Bettman needs to go, no one likes him
oh and btw, i play hockey and it should have been NOOOOOOOOOOO goal, since no one realized you cant go into the blue goalie area, and prohibit him from stopping a save. so ACTUALLY it was no goal, and us "philly" fans were right.
Well since I don't play goalie i dont give a shit what its called. and xmodzx it wasn't going in anyway, he was half way into the net and it hit his stick and slid in underneath of him. it wasn't a fucking goal.
figures that a dumbshit like you would say he plays hockey.... then calls the crease "the blue goalie area"....... then says philadelphia is the best sports city ever. so if anyone wants to know how to play hockey with a stick up your ass, just ask a philly fan.
figures that a fucking idiot like all of you thinks thats a goal. the only reason you mother fuckers got away with that cheap shot was because it was lil baby crosby that did it. make me sick.
its too bad pittsburgh fans are just stuck up bitches.
talk about philly again, don't forget our phil's are champians, and your lil pirate fruitcakes are nothing. Philadelphia is the ONLY city in the whole country with all four pro-sports in the same area. So hop off that its a horrible city cause its one of the nicest sportswise. so get the fuck outta here
does the bettman whining ever quit with flyers fans? jesus, just learn to lose...haven't you gotten used to it by now? just accept it...your team may be "tough" but they suck year after year.
I gotta say, crosby is a genius. What he did is a textbook definition of the word "cheap". He is a very strong skater- he doesn't fall unless he wants to or unless he's strongly tripped. He intentionally slid in because he could then redirect the puck in with his sliding body (a lot bigger than just a stick) without having the goal disallowed. There's no rule against slipping, and Crosby, who is very good at diving, was able to sell his "slip", score, and give the Pens a series-changing win.
... This is why I hate Crosby, but at the same time it was a genius move. He isn't the most sportsmanlike player on earth, but he gets the job done. Subtle strokes of genius like this are one of the reasons why he's better than any other player in hockey today- and possibly ever.
no, personally i try to add some kind of facts or stats based on plays, games or teams. so how did i become the lucky recipient of your nonsensical banter? "talk shit homie"?? whats that mean? i dont speak ebonics, sorry. is that a taunt to talk shit after we lost? do you know what hockey is or did you happen to notice the scores during a basketball game..how bout them spurs!!
Ah yes, the typical change in subject when someone, like yourself, is being simply outclassed in an argument.
The Spurs have won FOUR titles this decade, while the flyers have won ZERO titles in over three decades. Nice comparison I'd say, not for you though dickweed.
outclassed? yeah all the childish namecalling is classy. and your first two comments? really witty man...profound even..anyway, youre right, we lost again.. and i dont know shit about basketball so i dont know why i even brought that up.. still dont know why ya picked me for your shit anyway
Is anyone else tired of reading all of konank666's comments?
Anyway, there's no reason arguing about this now. Nothing's gonna change it. It was a controversial goal, but it's not like posting 20 million comments about it is going to make any difference.
Rule 78.5 Disallowed Goals Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons:
(i) When the puck has been directed, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick.
I'm not sure if this counts as that, but if there was any reason to disallow it, this would be it. Either way it was called on the ice it would have stayed that way.
your a moron Feanaro konank is correct because it hit birons glove it made the puck a " REBOUND" or "LOOSE" allowing for incidential contact to be allowed.
Lets not forget the fact that because Biron tried to stop the puck with his glove he was out of postion and he wouldnt have been able to save the puck anyway. The only thing that hit him was crosbys leg rigjht as the puck was crossing. Get the fuck over it
Incidental means "Of a minor, casual, or subordinate nature", & "not of prime or central importance" like the incidental contact between Brodeur and Jokinen. Unlike Biron being prevented moving across his crease to get at the puck by Crosby.
"If an attacking player enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeepers ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed."
Keep making a fool of yourself by trying to argue that wasn't just what happened.
The guy who stopped at the first definition of incidental instead of finding the definition that actually applies to the NHL's "incidental contact" is the the ignorant one here.
And konan, I am a Level 4 USA Hockey ref and have officiated hundreds of games. I think I know what a shot and rebound are. What are your credentials? Let me guess: "YOU MORON! You obviously don't know what a shot is from your last post! I guess Crosby shot the puck into his own dick, right? Go buy some Kleenex you retard!"
I have actually HEARD that one before, only it was a level 3 USA Hockey referee instead. Do you really think that anyone is dumb enough to believe you? Beyond the fact that it's the internet and it's not hard to make up your supposed qualifications, you lack even the slightest precepts to the game. You don't even have a clue. There is just no way that you are an official of anything except maybe Captain Crunch & cigarettes.
Haha. That's funny because I really am a Level 4 official. Started at Level 1 in 1999 officiating Mite and Squirt games. I go to the seminars for the Atlantic District at Lawrenceville Prep School. Been Level 4 since 2004 and have undergone Level 4-specific seminar training every September since then, including more than the one required in-game evaluation per season. I do mostly HS and Midget games in the central-NJ area. Also, pretty creepy that you're Googling posters on here. Awesome.
From what I've seen on all internet comment boards, it seems Pens fans do an awful lot of whining about how much Flyers fans whine. If this is how much you cry and rant when you're WINNING, I'm going to hate to see how much you boo-hoo everybody when you're losing. I came on here with a solid and non-offensive stance and got called a MORON, RETARD, CRYER FAN, DUMB, on and on and on. Wow. You Pitt fans sure know how to out-class your opponents. Will be back to see you squirm in later rounds...
So are you whining about the Pens fans whining about the Flyers fans whining?
And who on here is whining & crying other than the Flyers fans? People pointing out the actual facts of the case & not some delusional homer driven slant with made up bullshit, isn't whining or crying.
Beyond that, you didn't come on here with a solid stance at all, you made shit up. You are either really dumb or you are being willfully ignorant as to both the rules of the game & the English language.
No, I'm not whining at all. I think you're just making yourself look worse with every post, so I encourage your participation in, well, whatever this debate has become.
The puck isn't loose, fuckwad, Crosby has it on his stick and then on his body. He has possession of the puck, and makes contact with the goalie in the crease.
And the contact isn't incidental anyway, he clearly pushes Biron away from the puck with his legs, so still should have been disallowed.
Incidental contact is what Jokinen did to Broduer, this is clearly different to all but myopic cunts like yourself.
As abusive as he is, konank666 is 100% correct. Because Biron touched the puck first (this is not debatable, freeze the video at 2:14, he clearly touches it with his glove as it crosses the crease, which re-directs it before it hits Crosby's stick) the puck becomes a REBOUND. Even though contact is made with Biron, under rule 69.6 (the .6 being the important part), it is a legal goal. The fact that Biron touches the puck first makes all the difference.
I've tried to explain it before, but I still don't think that you get it. Biron touching is inconsequential on this play.
If a puck is loose in the paint, players are allowed to try & play the puck. If in the process of doing so, he incidentally bumps the goalie while getting possesion/putting it into the net, it's considered to NOT be goaltender interference & a good goal.
It doesn't matter the puck hits the goalie, if the the puck is loose & in the paint, players are allowed to try & get it
i didnt realize they were playing baseball. hes a goalie not a catcher, players cant slide feet first tryin to knock the puck loose. goaltender interference?? ref shouldve called it no goal in the first place. and it wouldve stood when reviewed
How about reading the rules? It's only been posted already on this video like at minimum 10 different times now, i.e:
69.6 Rebounds and Loose Pucks - In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed.
Like noted above, it's probably best to find a new excuse.
rebound? loose puck? it was a pass off crosbys stick into his torso and he slid in the net? the only way Biron wouldve stopped it is if he caught crosby..anyway, i never said that cost us the game.
Who was in control of the puck? No one was and therefore it was a loose puck. Or is your argument that Crosby was actually in control of that puck at any time let alone when he inadvertently bumped Biron?
How many times do I have to explain this before someone intelligent understands it? Watch the video again and freeze it at 2:14. BIRON TOUCHES THE PUCK FIRST WITH HIS GLOVE as it is moving across the crease. It glances off his glove and hits Crosby's stick as he is falling in the crease. According to rule 69.6 (read the whole rule), that is a REBOUND and CONTACT WITH THE GOALTENDER IS ALLOWED in that situation and any goal scored is a legal one. End of argument.
crosby is in the crease before the puck is even there. wheres your "loose" puck? or does loose mean the puck is directed in the general direction of crosbys contact with Biron?
Crosby is allowed to be in the crease with or without the puck, there is no rule against it. There used to be that rule, but they did away with it years ago now.
And again, "loose puck" refers to a puck that is not in any teams possession, which was quite clearly the case here. It's pretty simple

Pittsburgh penalty to #87, Sidney Crosby, 2:00 for Interference.

Jiltedin2007 6 months ago
What ever happened to the "In The Crease" rule we had back in the 90's?
Jiltedin2007 1 year ago
@Jiltedin2007 if the pucks there first then its okay. and you can be in the crease as long as it isnt obstructing the goalies movement.

@gnrfreak25
Yeah, well Cindy was clearly in the Crease long before the puck came to her.

I'm fucking getting tired of seeing this Mother Fucker Crosbitch getting away with murder on a consistent basis. And especially against one of the most hardest working teams in the NHL, the Flyers.
Jiltedin2007 1 year ago
Obviously, Cindy Crosbitch would get goals like that. SHE'S DADDY BETTMAN'S LITTLE GIRL! Although it was her momentum that pushed both the puck and herself into the Flyers Net. I would want to see what would happen if Danny Briere or Mike Richards were to slide into the Penguin Net with the puck. Would they also be counted as goals?
Jiltedin2007 1 year ago
you guys don't know what you're talking about. It's in before biron could react. listen to the commentators, they've watched a lot more hockey than any of us.

Lol, when it's the golden child it's a goal, anybody else that would be called back. Typical NHL.

The only question about this is does sid touch the goalie without being hit into him which is yes... AKA Flyers should go on the powerplay after this play but since it was sid they let it go
mclovintheflyers 2 years ago
@mclovintheflyers no, because if a player tries to stop, there is no call.... if you reply that he didnt try to stop, then your biased.. if your very serious about analyzing this goal, as I am, then the way I see it, there is no forward motion by his arm, he was braking long before he hit the goal, and, in addition, the puck was in the crease when contacted originated. The call made was correct.
LexIoana 1 year ago
@LexIoana The call was not correct. have you ever watched a Flyers Pens game with a non biased view?? honestly it makes me hate the NHL. the last game I went to Hartnell got crosscheck in the spine into Johnson and Harts got called .Harts was stopped and someone crosschecked him so hard he looked like a backwards C yet he sits for it. Sid in no way tried to avoid contact with the goalie which is the rule.not trying to stop.he is one of the best skaters in the game, if he wanted to stop he could,
mclovintheflyers 1 year ago

@ROCKETS2965 How can it be "Goaltender Interference" when the Goaltender never had a chance of fielding the Puck? Hello, Pearle Vision is calling you Dumbass!
Jiltedin2007 1 year ago
Never had a chance of fielding it because Crosby was busy running his ass over.
ROCKETS2965 1 year ago
@LexIoana What are you talking about?! Cindy was fully "In the Crease" before the puck was. So no, that would have been considered a "No Goal"!
You can't receive the puck when you're in the Crease. The Goal Crease is the Goaltender's space to either stop or field the puck. Why don't you learn your rules!
Jiltedin2007 6 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 Ummm, go read the NHL rule book and tell me where the "Crease Rule" is then.
You're a moron, it was a clean goal. No forced movement of the arm. Good goal.
This is coming from a guy who can't stand Crosby, but it was a fair call. And you can stand in the crease all day as long as you aren't interfering with the goalie.
You need to learn the rules of hockey before you spew "Ultimate hockey knowledge" to anyone.
SkylineBNR34 3 months ago
@SkylineBNR34 O.K. Mr. NHL Rules, why don't you look up another rule about scoring a goal by pushing the puck across the Goal Line with a part of your body because if you were to see this video clearly, you would see that Crosby stopped the puck with his stick about 2 feet from the Goal before pushing it across with his Wrist.
Tell me where it is legal to score a goal without the use of your stick.
Jiltedin2007 3 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 lmfao you can score with any part of your body as long as there is no forward motion or kicking motion ; which is why people have deflected shots with hands, skates, pants, shoulders, even their face, for years and years of hockey.......
LexIoana 3 months ago

LexIoana 3 months ago
@SkylineBNR34 When there isn't any direct motion the puck can deflect off any part of the body.
Crosby's forward progression made the puck bounce off his wrist and into the net, you can clearly see there is no distinct forward movement of his arm trying to "push" the puck into the net.
Try again bucko. You clearly don't know any of the rules in the NHL then. You can score off any part of the body as long as you aren't "pushing" it in, directing it in is fine. You can score goals with your body

shadoofbaby2009 2 years ago
I'm a Flyers fan, but I can't say that this wasn't a good goal. It was a cheap goal and Biron couldn't really do anything about it, but in the playoffs, goals like these are important. The Flyers had plenty of opportunities to win this game, as they had 8 powerplays, but Fleury stole the game and stopped 45 shots. It is disheartening, considering that that the Flyers outplayed Pittsburgh from game 2-period 1 of game 6, but Pitt took better advantage of their chances.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
i dont understand, you think this was a cheap goal but a good goal? whats cheap about it? he crashed the net and the puck hit off his midsection and went into the net. it was lucky but not cheap.
goat6668 2 years ago
Well, it was cheap, considering that he slid into Biron (even though he came into contact with Biron after the deflecting the puck). It was a 'garbage goal' as they call it. I don't blame Crosby for crashing the net as it's important to do that in the playoffs...it's just that Biron was didn't really have an opportunity to make the save because of the way the puck was knocked in off his midsection. But this game was all about MAF, then the rest of the Pens, anyways...
Crawford1987 2 years ago
yea i mean, i understand that its a frustrating goal to watch from your end, but like you said he made contact with the puck before he did with biron. thats all you can ask for. definitely a garbage goal, but those are the kinds of goals that win you big games. and yea, biron didnt have much of a chance. i dont think biron is that bad. i think the flyers fans treat him unfairly. but whatever. fleurys inconsistency is hard to watch, but he was nothing short of perfect in this game.
goat6668 2 years ago
Yea, he was perfect in this game because he had to be. Biron is a capable goalie but the reason why Flyers fans got on him a lot was because of the soft goals he was known for giving up. He also struggled with his lateral movement. Fleury is inconsistent, but he seems to step his game up when it really matters, so that's good. It was a frustrating goal to watch, but it was the series on a whole that was frustrating cuz we felt we did everything necessary to win the series but we couldnt beat MAF
Crawford1987 2 years ago
i know biron can let in some soft goals, but ive also seen biron keep the flyers in games they had no business bein in. MAF is tough to watch like i said, but he does step up in big games usually. so much potential, he could be brodeur but hes gotta fix his shortcomings. the series was the pens worst. they improved steadily after this. i thought we were gunna get swept by the caps but sid carried us, as usual. the flyers played a good series, but game 6 proved the flyers werent ready to move on
goat6668 2 years ago
Yea, he's kept the Flyers in games they had no business being in (that's the way it happens with most teams). MAF is a good goalie, but I think it's a stretch to say he could be the next Brodeur. He's definitely got awesome reflexes but Marty Brodeur is a special goalie. As for game 6 i agree, if you can't hold onto a 3 goal lead, you don't deserve to win a series...although, I feel the Flyers are just as good as Pitt and could have won, but Pitt was more focused and disciplined.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
in the 07-08 playoffs, fleury was damn near perfect in every game. he was so good. his reflexes, and movement are 2nd to none, but his rebound control is horrible. if he learns to eat up rebounds he can be the top goalie. as of now though MAF still gives me a heart attack watching him most nights. i dunno about the flyers being as good as the pens last year, but this year i think theyre better. the pens really played horribly though. even if the flyers were the best opponent the pens had in...
goat6668 2 years ago
the first rd, the pens still played horribly against them. they had to pick it up from there to play near perfect hockey against the wings. i htink the caps were better than the flyers last year, but i think their dependence on ov is their downfall. theyve got some great talent on that team, but it seems like they want everyone to take a backseat to ov. varly was a beast though. and sid almost singlehandedly beat the caps, yes. as for the 3rd rd, i dunno if you can put that all on malkin...
goat6668 2 years ago
i think a sweep is more of a team effort
goat6668 2 years ago
And with your comment on the Pens playing horrible in the first round, I disagree. They just weren't able to roll over the Flyers like last season, because the Flyers were at full strength (although Richards played with two torn shoulder labrums and Carter had a seperated right shoulder). Timonen, Coburn, and Parent helped limit Crosby and Malkin's damage, even though Sid and Geno got their points. It was MAF that was the MVP and the Staal line that played the bestfor the Pens.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
Well, here's where I'll disagree. The Caps are NOT better than the Flyers, this year or last, because their offense begins and ends with OV. Kimmo Timonen plays great against him and the Flyers (before Pronger came), had a much more well-rounded defense (even more so now) than the Caps. Their offense was and still is deeper than the Caps. Varlamov may have been the difference if the Caps played the Flyers and won, but I would take the Flyers any day of the week to beat the Caps in a series.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
Yea, Fleury was really good last year, but the Pens played a BAD Sens team, an offensively inept Rangers team, and then an injury-riddled, though inferior, Flyers team. I think MAF shined in the Finals, especially game 5...although, I think the Pens defense was largely responsible for how well Fleury played in the first 3 rounds (like when they used the trap against the Flyers in game 3 in 2008). IF he learns to control the rebounds consistently, then yea, he can be an elite goalie (but not MB).
Crawford1987 2 years ago
im not sold on the theory that the pens had an easy road to the cup last year. i mean, crosby and hossa were close to unstoppable, because even the wings had a hard time stopping them, and the rags, who can really limit a teams scoring each night with their D and lundqvist. but they were the best in the east last year (mtl would have given them a run though except for price). the caps sucked last year. they only made teh playoffs cause they won the worst div in hockey. but i do believe that...
goat6668 2 years ago
they have some great talent on that team. their D is shaky, but every team has a weakness. the flyers really got lucky last year against them in game 7. their 2nd goal should have been called back for interference, but o well. thats hockey. as far as the pens this year, i watched them prior to the start of the playoffs, and in hte first rd they looked lazy. but i meant to comment about this earlier, staals like was huge. the flyers had no response to it. best 3rd line in hockey. they really...
goat6668 2 years ago
controlled the puck on almost every shift. but then staals line became increasingly useless in the 2nd and 3rd rds. but made a reemergence in the cup, so i cant complain too much. not a staal fan but he played a huge part in winning the cup. his shorthanded goal in game 6 was one of the most intense moments of hockey ive ever watched
goat6668 2 years ago
I could also make the argument that the Caps got lucky in game 1 when Thoresen was drilled with a slap shot in his jewels and play was not called dead with him lying on the ice. The Caps were already on a PP, but Thoresen going down turned that into a 5-on-3, and the Caps scored, tying the game. OV won the game later in the third. The Flyers won the next 3 games, so had the Flyers won game 1, there's a chance the Flyers could have swept the series, but we'll never know what would've happened.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
I've heard mixed reviews about Staal, actually. From what I've heard, he'll have a game where he seems to dominate and scores 3 goals (like in Detroit last November), then disappears for a month. In a way, you could say he's like Lupul...only Staal's two-way presence is extremely useful to the Pens on the third line. Pens fans have told me he'd be a second line center on most teams and first-liner on some, but others say that when playing Malkin, he couldn't produce.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
True, for the Caps it's their defense, the Flyers it's their goaltending (depending on how Emery turns out), and with the Pens, it's their lack of depth at wing. You could say that the the Flyers got lucky in game 7, but the rule is: If the defenseman is playing the puck and gets pushed/checked, and so happens to knock the goalie over, it's not goaltender interference. Patrik Thoresen took advantage of the situation and enabled Kapanen to score.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
i mean ill say this. i watched the whole series and i really thought the caps deserved to win, but it doesnt really matter cause in my opinion neither team were as good as mtl minus the carey price meltdown. but nobody was beating detroit. flyers won, it is what it is.
true about staal, except its more like he dominates every game for like a week then disappears for about 2-3 months. hes good on the pk. but 4 mil a season for a pker? its too much. he should make more like 2.5 mil. i will say...
goat6668 2 years ago
that he is almost unquestionably the best 3rd lind center in the league, but he doesnt have much competition. 3rd liners are never really THAT good. he would be a 2nd liner on damn near any other team. pens are stacked down the middle, but staal still frustrates me. too streaky. thats not what we need.
i think emery will just be more of biron. hes not bad, but hes not gunna win you a cup on his own. pronger will though. flyers are my pick to win the cup, but well see
goat6668 2 years ago
That's what a lot of people believe. Even if Emery is just a lateral movement from Biron (although I think he's an upgrade in talent and athleticism), the Flyers defense has the ability to form 2 elite shutdown lines (Pronger and Timonen on seperate lines), keeping the puck away from Emery.
The Hockey News has the Flyers winning the Cup this year as well, because of stacked offense and defense, but as you said, we'll see what happens.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
It's debateable. I mean, the Flyers jumped out to a 3-1 series lead and were the better team in 3 of the 4 games. Even in game 5 they almost tied the game in the last seconds of the third. The Flyers had trouble holding onto leads. As for MTL, they lost not only because of Price but because they refused to crash the net. Biron and Umberger won that series for the Flyers. As for Staal, he could be a centering piece in a package to land the Pens a bonafide no.1 winger.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
yea, i mean mtl was a little too soft 2 years ago, but they had so much skill. theyve got some great players on that team, although i think they got worse this year. if they can pull it together theyre gunna be scary.
i dont know that i want staal traded. its gunna be tough to replace his minutes with a first line winger. and the depth will be gone too. i think the pens just gotta keep doing what theyve done so far, and focus on the centers. so far its worked out. sid taking 8.7 mil was a...

cap killer. he owes so much to lemieux. i was expecting him to sign for about 4 mil a year, and then malkin took the same amount. the cap really is gunna make it tough to be a dynasty.
well see if the flyers can replace the offense lost with knuble and lupul. i wanted the pens to get knuble so badly. i think he was the best forward on the flyers the last 2 years. as jonesy calls him, "mr consistency". hes top notch at what he does. washington actually might be able to beat the flyers in the...

playoffs. i think theyre the only team in the east that will be able to compete. and maybe boston. then again, the devils always manage to hang around too, dont they?
goat6668 2 years ago
The Cap makes it tough for any team to be a dynasty, also because of how much strain a Cup run puts on a team (mentally and physically). The Pens have logged alot of miles over the past 2 seasons and will face a hungry Caps and Flyers team. I know the Flyers want to desperately beat the Pens and will play like a team possessed when they meet the Pens. And yes, the Devils are a son-of-a-bitch team. They're a great reg. season team but dont have enough talent to go deep in the playoffs.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
...winger to play with Crosby or Malkin, it's going to be so much harder, even with Pronger.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
Yea, MTL has diminutive forwards on their team, although they're skilled. I think Gomez is the most overrated center in the NHL, though...
Well, if you guys traded Staal, I would rejoice because Carter would have a much easier time scoring against the Pens lol...but a Hossa-like winger puts you guys over the top. With an elite winger, it makes it so much tougher for opposing teams to stop Crosby or Malkin. The Flyers will focus on shutting down Crosby and Malkin, but if Pitt gets an elite...

yea i dont see gomez fitting the mtl style of hockey over the last few seasons. but they ditched skill guys like koivu and kovalev for north americans. well see if it works.
haha yea thats teh thing about staal. his D is good. and as a 3rd liner he doesnt play too much, but hes good enough to give malkin and sid some rest. hossa and sid were incredible to watch, but they didnt win the cup. however, you cant blame sid and hossa for not winning. they certainly did their part...
goat6668 2 years ago
but im absolutely blown away that a flyers fan is giving credit to sid here. this is rare. pronger can shut down whoever hes assigned to. then if you want to depend on timonen to shut down malkin, he might be able to slow him down. but this is where staal comes in... if he could be a consistent pt scorer, maybe getting 60 pts or more a year, the pens could roll through the nhl. but staals streakiness can kill them.
id take knuble over richards. for his money, hes a good value...
goat6668 2 years ago
but theres a number of guys around the league who can do what richards does. i think staal is sort of like our richards. more D minded. but somebody who can do what knuble does in front of the net is so valuable. smyth, holmstrom, maybe malone, and maybe another player or 2 im missing are really the only ones who can compete with knuble out front. its a tough assignment not everyone wants to take.
flyers, caps, bruins, devils, maybe the leafs are the only teams i see as threats in teh east.
goat6668 2 years ago
It sound homerish, but I think Richards is going to be putting up Datsyuk-like numbers either this year or next year, cause he's still getting better each year. He's defensive-minded but has scored 28 and 30 goals in his last 2 season and 75 and 80 points....especially with the talent the Flyers have in Giroux, Gagne, Briere, Hartnell, Carter, etc..
Knuble is good value but that's only for the PP and most of his goals come from 5 feet away. Richie is one of the best all-around players.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
Yea I can give credit to Crosby, even though kills the Flyers. I think Pronger will most likely be matched up against Malkin though, cause Pronger's size and reach is better suited against a guy like Geno, who isn't as fast as Crosby. Timonen would then pair up with Coburn or Parent against Crosby. Staal has the skill to become a big-time scorer but he needs more ice time and needs to shoot the puck more. He could also stand to have better wingers playing with him...
Crawford1987 2 years ago
i dunno who you think is better between sid and malkin, but im not much of a malkin fan myself. i think sid is way better. if malkin had showed up in the final 2 rds of the 08 playoffs then maybe itd be a different story, but that was his 2nd postseason where he sucked and id had enough. but he really helped this year. sid shoulda been playoff mvp but o well. the cup was more important. id rather have pronger on malkin cause pronger could kill sid if given the chance, but timonen doesnt have...
goat6668 2 years ago
that size, although sid might be able to just blow past pronger too, so youre probably right about the matchups.
staal would be better with better wingers (who wouldnt?) but you cant really focus on getting better wings on a 3rd line. im more worried about getting sid a realy line first.
well see about richards. briere doesnt scare me too much. he might be able to up his numbers but well have to wait and see. hockey season is right around the corner
goat6668 2 years ago
I'd rather have Pronger on Malkin because of that possibility, that Crosby could skate by Pronger. Still, I think Pronger would be fine against Sid because he has a really long reach and would simply back up more to keep Crosby in front of him.
Yea I think Richards is ready to take the next step by eclipsing 90 points this season. Briere will play on the right wing and I feel will have a bounce-back season(80+ points). Briere will have a lot of work with this year (with Gagne and Richards).
Crawford1987 2 years ago
I actually think Malkin is better than Crosby. That's just my opinion. I think is the purest goal scorer in the NHL and a premier playmaker. Crosby needs to shoot the puck more (and score) for me to put him ahead of Malkin.
Timonen's true value is in his positional play. He wont put up 50-60 point seasons but he's consistently putting up 40+ over the last 7 or so seasons. Timonen was a major reason why the Flyers beat the Caps in round 1 of 2008.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
yea, like i said, malkin doesnt rank too high on the team with me, but he still was part of the cup team and i appreciate every single thing he did for the pens en route to the cup. but i like crosby better, and i think crosby leaves it all on the ice every night. malkin not so much. and sids D is better despite the takeaway #s for malkin in 09. i saw every game, dunno where those #s came from haha.
timonen is an intelligent player yes. im not big on finnish players, so i dont think hes that...
goat6668 2 years ago
much better than average, but fins work hard. timonen is no exception.
if pronger was on sid, he could really kill him, like i said, but sid could also abuse him on an off ngiht. but pronger doesnt have many of them and hed do just fine. hes probably the best Dman in the league. id take him over anyone. its gunna suck having to play him 6 times a year.
until briere learns to deal with physicality he wont do much. the pens shut him down i nthe playoffs 2 years in a row now. hes gotta do better
goat6668 2 years ago
Timonen is one of the most underrated defensemen in the NHL. As for Malkin, I can't believe you said he doesn't rank too high on the team. If that's the case, trade him to the Flyers for Jeff Carter, a prospect, and picks lol. I hope would kill to have Malkin play for Philly. Him setting up Giroux and Gagne would be the most dynamic line in the NHL.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
hes good, better than most everyone on the pens, but i like many players better than him. hes expensive too man. youd have to cut a player or 2 just to fit him. i woudlnt relaly want carter on the pens though. hes too one way, all offense no D. but yea i get what youre after here. malkin would be a huge step up for the flyers, yea.
goat6668 2 years ago
Carter has come a long way, defensively. It shows in his plus-minus (+23 in 08/09). Plus, Carter is one of the purest goal scorers in the NHL, as he finished second only to Ovechkin. Malkin's cap hit is 8.7M, so we would definitely cut a couple players, but it would never happen anyways. I figured you would really love Malkin, considering after him and Sid, there's a severe dropoff in point production and talent from the rest of the forwards. Same goes in D, after Gonchar.
Crawford1987 2 years ago
yea, youd guess id like malkin, and like i said, i appreciate what he did to help win the cup, but other than that hes not near the top of the team on my list of favorites. dont expect to see me with a malkin jersey anytime soon. but im open to changing my mind, as of now though, not really a fan.
theres a huge pt dropoff on the pens after malkin and sid, which is why staal needs to pick it up. at 4 mil a season hes gotta do more than PK.
hope letang starts puttin up 60 pt seasons soon on D
goat6668 2 years ago
Anyone who doesnt think malkin is better than crosby really isnt a hockey fan... just a fan of what they hear. Also MAF is the MVP of that team
mclovintheflyers 2 years ago
i don't know if you coiuld say that the first round was the worst for the Pens...the Flyers were just the toughest opponent they played in the first 3 rounds (Varlamov was the only reason that the Caps won the first 2 games).

Kevohgotskills 2 years ago
the penguin always get good players like lemieux malkin jagr crosby fleury thats cause pittsburg is always in last place so they get franchise players
flyers came in last place in 07 for like the first time ever in a long time and they were gonig to pick up patrick kane but they didnt get first pick so flyers didnt get lucky like pittsburg does
but now flyers have pronger and emery so pittsburg better watch out cause in 2 year pittsburg once again will not make in the playoff for a long time
simongagne33 2 years ago
I'm surprised you think Pronger and Emery are going to save your team. Pronger = Penalty minutes. Emery = Almost no talent.
Kevohgotskills 2 years ago
no way the refs and bettman and everybody involved in the NHL all pulled for them to win.
hotwireauterus 2 years ago
wow, why doesnt all the flyer fans stop complaining? WHO WON THE STANLEY CUP? yaa, exactly, thats what i thought. THE PITTSBURGH PENGUINS. not the philadelphia cryers. and it wouldnt have mattered if that goal counted or not.. we still would have won.

That was a good goal, but Crosby is Bettman's pet now. That is the only reason they won the cup this year, bettman had the refs calling crap the whole series, he had the finals start a week early because Detroit had just come off a 7 game series. Bettman needs to go, no one likes him

Isis2219 2 years ago
I gotta say, crosby is a genius. What he did is a textbook definition of the word "cheap". He is a very strong skater- he doesn't fall unless he wants to or unless he's strongly tripped. He intentionally slid in because he could then redirect the puck in with his sliding body (a lot bigger than just a stick) without having the goal disallowed. There's no rule against slipping, and Crosby, who is very good at diving, was able to sell his "slip", score, and give the Pens a series-changing win.
hebrewman9 2 years ago
... This is why I hate Crosby, but at the same time it was a genius move. He isn't the most sportsmanlike player on earth, but he gets the job done. Subtle strokes of genius like this are one of the reasons why he's better than any other player in hockey today- and possibly ever.

BigBossWhitey 2 years ago
your a moron Feanaro konank is correct because it hit birons glove it made the puck a " REBOUND" or "LOOSE" allowing for incidential contact to be allowed.
Lets not forget the fact that because Biron tried to stop the puck with his glove he was out of postion and he wouldnt have been able to save the puck anyway. The only thing that hit him was crosbys leg rigjht as the puck was crossing. Get the fuck over it
Crosbyisapimp 2 years ago
Incidental means "Of a minor, casual, or subordinate nature", & "not of prime or central importance" like the incidental contact between Brodeur and Jokinen. Unlike Biron being prevented moving across his crease to get at the puck by Crosby.
"If an attacking player enters the goal crease and, by his actions, impairs the goalkeepers ability to defend his goal, and a goal is scored, the goal will be disallowed."
Keep making a fool of yourself by trying to argue that wasn't just what happened.

Go buy some Kleenex you retard!"
jon6810 2 years ago
You are a level 4 USA hockey referee? LOL!
There is just no way that you are an official of anything except maybe Captain Crunch & cigarettes.
konank666 2 years ago
Awesome.

konank666 2 years ago
From what I've seen on all internet comment boards, it seems Pens fans do an awful lot of whining about how much Flyers fans whine. If this is how much you cry and rant when you're WINNING, I'm going to hate to see how much you boo-hoo everybody when you're losing. I came on here with a solid and non-offensive stance and got called a MORON, RETARD, CRYER FAN, DUMB, on and on and on. Wow. You Pitt fans sure know how to out-class your opponents. Will be back to see you squirm in later rounds...
jon6810 2 years ago
So are you whining about the Pens fans whining about the Flyers fans whining?
And who on here is whining & crying other than the Flyers fans? People pointing out the actual facts of the case & not some delusional homer driven slant with made up bullshit, isn't whining or crying.
Beyond that, you didn't come on here with a solid stance at all, you made shit up. You are either really dumb or you are being willfully ignorant as to both the rules of the game & the English language.
konank666 2 years ago
No, I'm not whining at all. I think you're just making yourself look worse with every post, so I encourage your participation in, well, whatever this debate has become.
jon6810 2 years ago
No you're not wining. LMAO!
Maybe you should make up some more lies to try and boost your online resume. Right Mr. Level 4 USA hockey ref?
konank666 2 years ago
The puck isn't loose, fuckwad, Crosby has it on his stick and then on his body. He has possession of the puck, and makes contact with the goalie in the crease.
And the contact isn't incidental anyway, he clearly pushes Biron away from the puck with his legs, so still should have been disallowed.
Incidental contact is what Jokinen did to Broduer, this is clearly different to all but myopic cunts like yourself.
Feanaro5503 2 years ago
Crosby had possession of that puck and it wasn't loose?
Good lord, you are even dumber than I thought.
And again, you do not have the slightest clue as to what the word incidental means. I already posted it here twice, do I need to do so again?
konank666 2 years ago
As abusive as he is, konank666 is 100% correct. Because Biron touched the puck first (this is not debatable, freeze the video at 2:14, he clearly touches it with his glove as it crosses the crease, which re-directs it before it hits Crosby's stick) the puck becomes a REBOUND. Even though contact is made with Biron, under rule 69.6 (the .6 being the important part), it is a legal goal. The fact that Biron touches the puck first makes all the difference.
enantiodrome 2 years ago

konank666 2 years ago
I've tried to explain it before, but I still don't think that you get it. Biron touching is inconsequential on this play.
If a puck is loose in the paint, players are allowed to try & play the puck. If in the process of doing so, he incidentally bumps the goalie while getting possesion/putting it into the net, it's considered to NOT be goaltender interference & a good goal.
It doesn't matter the puck hits the goalie, if the the puck is loose & in the paint, players are allowed to try & get it
konank666 2 years ago
i didnt realize they were playing baseball. hes a goalie not a catcher, players cant slide feet first tryin to knock the puck loose. goaltender interference?? ref shouldve called it no goal in the first place. and it wouldve stood when reviewed
LetsGoFlyers2009 2 years ago
And you'd be wrong twice.
konank666 2 years ago
hows that? sliding feet fist, untouched, isnt interference?
LetsGoFlyers2010 2 years ago
How about reading the rules? It's only been posted already on this video like at minimum 10 different times now, i.e:
69.6 Rebounds and Loose Pucks - In a rebound situation, or where a goalkeeper and attacking player(s) are simultaneously attempting to play a loose puck, whether inside or outside the crease, incidental contact with the goalkeeper will be permitted, and any goal that is scored as a result thereof will be allowed.
Like noted above, it's probably best to find a new excuse.
konank666 2 years ago
rebound? loose puck? it was a pass off crosbys stick into his torso and he slid in the net? the only way Biron wouldve stopped it is if he caught crosby..anyway, i never said that cost us the game.
LetsGoFlyers2010 2 years ago
You never answered the question.
Who was in control of the puck? No one was and therefore it was a loose puck. Or is your argument that Crosby was actually in control of that puck at any time let alone when he inadvertently bumped Biron?
konank666 2 years ago
How many times do I have to explain this before someone intelligent understands it? Watch the video again and freeze it at 2:14. BIRON TOUCHES THE PUCK FIRST WITH HIS GLOVE as it is moving across the crease. It glances off his glove and hits Crosby's stick as he is falling in the crease. According to rule 69.6 (read the whole rule), that is a REBOUND and CONTACT WITH THE GOALTENDER IS ALLOWED in that situation and any goal scored is a legal one. End of argument.
enantiodrome 2 years ago 2
100% correct, more philly fans crying in their beer, as usual.
spursdynasty4 2 years ago
crosby was in the crease before it touched Biron. if they could review for intereference it wouldve been no goal
LetsGoFlyers2010 2 years ago
Continuing to keep repeat the same bullshit nonsense does not make it anymore true. Sorry.
The fact that the rules have been clearly noted on here several times and you refuse to acknowledge them, makes it even worse.
konank666 2 years ago
crosby is in the crease before the puck is even there. wheres your "loose" puck? or does loose mean the puck is directed in the general direction of crosbys contact with Biron?
LetsGoFlyers2010 2 years ago
Crosby is allowed to be in the crease with or without the puck, there is no rule against it. There used to be that rule, but they did away with it years ago now.
And again, "loose puck" refers to a puck that is not in any teams possession, which was quite clearly the case here. It's pretty simple
konank666 2 years ago
nope interference, no goal. no loose puck. would have stood if it was called
LetsGoFlyers2010 2 years ago
Feel free to cite the NHL rule that says that players are not allowed to enter the crease.
Also, I will again ask you tell me who was in possession of this puck if it wasn't loose. I've asked you this several time before to no avail.
I'll wait again.
konank666 2 years ago
How is that interference?!? That was a bang-bang play at the side of the net. If that was a Flyers goal that would've counted too.
